Hello, occassional visitor here!
I consider myself a big HP fan (mostly the novels) and collected most of the 2001 HP LEGO series and none of the recent series starting in 2020 (I believe?), but man!
Every time I see pictures of upcoming sets I am so impressed with the details and styles of the sets, and in general what LEGO choose to pick as sets -as in, not just Hogwarts and related rooms or buildings, but now Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley as well- it's just... :wub_drool:

Now, with the recent list of leaked upcoming sets, they all sound fabulous.
The Flying Lesson sounds funny to me, 'cause I remember original version which was very small and cost about ten bucks (max) and now they're making an $80 version
I'm very intrigued with Malfoy Manor. I've always had a fascination with the Expert Creator modular buildings and always hoped they'd make a manor, so maybe this one will come close to it
Regarding the Diagon Alley Wizard Shop; as with the Hogsmeade sets, these are always the ones that are hardest for me to resist. I love the winter village feelings some of the Hogmeade sets give me and those, as well as the Diagon Alley sets always seem more generally usable than just for HP-related scenes/environments/what-have-you's to me.
On the outside that is :innocent:  obviously the interior of at least this set will be a bit less generic.

Anyhoo, that was my 'rant' for a moment

Regards,
Mitch

I doubt it. A modular building would have well over 2000 pieces. A modular building of a manor (a house with more width than height) should have even more (the Natural History Museum had over 4000 pieces). And it would be more expensive too! I'm pretty sure we're looking at an open-backed dollhouse style building here.

Or I don't think we've ever had a Great Hall without a fireplace, but this one lacks it - but hey, you can add the fireplace from the advent calendar! When that should have been included in the first place.

While this is true, I actually watched the movie again recently, and the fireplace is on the opposite wall.  So the new Great Hall is "technically" more accurate, since the fireplace should be on the right-side wall, rather than the left-side wall.

Yeah, I suppose that is more probable.
Or, maybe close-backed house that folds open?
I thought I read something like that somewhere, but I can't remember if that was about Malfoy Manor or something entirely different..

That's unavoidable, in my opinion. No way, I think, that LEGO will sell a set with an empty space. So any set will be complete on its own, like the Great Hall with Troll bathroom and Hufflepuff common room. Plus there will be sets like Potions class that could be put in the model instead of something else.

In the end, we'll probably have all common rooms, a good amount of classrooms and some iconic scenes and need to decide what to put in the model (of course, anyone can at his pleasure modify the model to accomodate everything). At the moment, if you think about it, we have two spaces under the Great Hall and three sets that can go in those spaces. So one of them need to be excluded.

I'm happy to buy the extra classrooms and modules because I expect this Hogwarts to only be the main portion and then I can MOC the Greenhouse side and use the extra modules to fill it in.

I think you mean the UCS Burrow.

Aaahh, yes, of course!
That one I'm also looking forward to :sweet:

Agree, there's a lot to do for people who wants to create their own Hogwarts castle.

It will be really interesting to see it put together. I am planning to get a glas table in my living room that works as a display case, when it is done (like some people did with the ucs Falcon

I see some rumours that the diagon alley shops might be micro scale, is there anything to back this up?

Personally I’m hoping to expand on the recent two shops sets and carry on at the same price a couple more times. 200 for system scale is rather high for me but if it’s got about 6 shops in it and lots of great figures, without repeating WWW or Olivanders then I might go for it.

Yes, the original source of the rumour (exabricks) and Jedijacpenguin both report it being microscale :classic:

Hagrid's Bike and Sidecar is something I would really appreciate as a small set - 20$ - the reference to sidecar means this is taken from DH escape from Privet Drive... now, just some thinkings aloud... a scene with only Hagrid, Harry and the motorbike is something with not much sense, but a scene with Voldermot, maybe even with a death eather, wouldn't be name as Seven Potter Battle or somethin similar with a reference to the battle and the action scene? My conclusion is that Hagrid's Bike and Sidecar is what the name suggest, a 50$ model of the motorbike, with no brick-built Hagrid or Harry, but only a Hagrid variant with googles. Not my cup of tea, in the case. It's true that it could be something like Ford Anglia, but how could a motorbike have 204 pieces while the Ford Anglia has 165?

I would expect the bike and a little sidebuild, like a lantern and a road sign of privet drive.

There is no way they can do the class in a way that does not absulutely suck for 20. I say it will be about the level of the potions class + inflation for 50. Maybe it will have a little technic mechanism to fold out the students seats, when opening it.

The set will have 617 pieces for 50$, while Potions class was 397 for 40$, so no idea where you see inflation here, without even seeing it first. Given the price and piece count (and given it is actually the charms class) I could see this beeing not just a module but also a part of the castle included here.

It probably depends on what else will be included, since at this price point it will be a part of the castle too and I would think that this won´t be emtpy.

The 2021 system had shades of this (like the slide in the Chamber of Secrets that needed to be combined with the trapdoor from the Polyjuice Potion Mistake), but with this new Iteration it's just becoming obvious to me that even the EUR 200 flagship set can't stand on its own nor is meant to be. It's just a very expensive starter set for the available upgrades.

Yes, this is precisely why I got out of collecting system scale sets for HP. For awhile I was a completionist, then it got out of hand with the "soft reboot" paired with some interesting builds and I started getting more selective. It's since turned into a massive re-reboot with lots of neat but expensive sets that requires around $1000/year to keep pace. I decided to sell all my system scale sets and focus on either D2C's or random sets I think are interesting/fun like the Sorting Hat. Part of me misses the excitement of seeing the next wave and getting excited to add a lot of new sets, but a bigger part is relieved to save money and enjoy a leaner collection.

The 2018-2020 is "my" Hogwarts and at this point I just buy the new whole sets in the theme that offer something different that I'm interested in, or source some of the most interesting new parts/figures individually. And I don't even have all of those first wave of castle sets, just the big three - Great Hall, Clock Tower and Astronomy Tower.

They are doing figures to a really high standard in the latest iteration, especially the teachers, and Hogwarts-wise that's all I need.

I think there is still time for me to dodge the bullet and just buy the "Polyjuice Potion Mistake" and "The Chamber of Secrets" combo and be done with it (i like how they look and there is a fun playable feature with a bathroom tube). The upcoming huge modular castle is so tempting but so space/money consuming. Even if I never had any Hogwarts completed (just smaller sets from each line) I don't have space for that final build.

My idea from the very beginning was just having Hagrid's hut+Forbidden Forest around it on display and keeping everything in boxes till i figure out the best space for it.

But i can't imagine how cool it's gonna look if you for example add lights to it. And how impossible it will be to get everything after sets get discontinued.

Totally likely, we'll see.

Coming back to this, while I'm also sure the manor will be open backed, it could still be quite a good manor building. It has only slightly fewer parts than the 10937 Arkham Asylum for instance, which has an excellent exterior and decent interior as well.

On the other hand, Malfoy Manor is far more memorable and important for what happens inside than outside, so they could decide to focus on the interior with only a basic exterior.

Time will tell.

I am curious how Lego will deal with another segments of Hogwarts Castle and fillers. We got the Hufflepuff common room and it would not make sense if we are not getting other houses common rooms. Also, they should be about the same size to maintain the some kind of proportions. For sure other classrooms would also be released in same manner, more or less. How about iconic locations? Dumbledores and Umbridge offices, room of requirements, chamber of secrets, hospital wing. Do you think they will be done for this edition of the castle?

I have about half the sets from the 2021 system and honestly, the Chamber of Secrets and the Polyjuice Potions Mistake are by far the best. The Room of Requirement has been, for me, a surprising third place.

Also, these three together already make up a pretty decently sized castle (or even just the two you're thinking of getting). There's no need to be a completionist about every subset of every theme, and your proposed setup with the Hut and Forest sounds lovely.

I'd expect the Chamber of Secrets to be next year"s EUR 200 flagship set, and for the Slytherin common room to be included. The other two should come with towers, though I guess maybe they just shoehorn them in where it fits thematically, i.e. the Ravenclaw common room with a library or something.

As for classes, the Charms Class should give us a good idea what to expect and if they're keeping the Potions Class format going forward.

In my opinion, in the end we'll have all the common rooms, probably already inside segments of the castle.

Charms class should give us suggestion on how the upper switchable sections will be, considering that in theory it's not located in the undergounds and untill now we had only undergound locations (Troll bathroom, Hufflepuff common room, Potions class).

As for Dumbledore's office I think it could be put in the Grand Staircase Tower upper part... while the lower part could have a movable stair.

One of the ways i could see them do the hagrid’s motorbike set at the 50€ mark would be by including some night sky scenery (similar to the peter pan flight set)… would it be necessary? Totally not! But they people want the motorbike so i could totally see them trying to find a way to get a quick buck out of the concept

I don´t think that other sections will be any different from the ones we had in the great hall to add the modules there. A different size won´t make sense since we already have two different ones and if they would make more now, that would kinda work against the idea of making them switchable at all.

Aside from that, we don´t really know if charms class will even be a Module, it could aswell be a part of the castle and the class is made like the great hall - though something like potions would make more sense given the place needed for it and the fact that the great hall itself is already quite small there won´t be more space in other parts of the castle.

But in the end I don´t really know how they would fit any of those Modules in any tower without having it look out of scale, if I look at the great hall I don´t think the towers will fit much inside, really.

Someone wears a new pointy hat, but can't see who at the moment, could be Arthur.

If I watch closely, the outfits are from chamber of secrets when they arrive at the burrow. Those outfits could have been in the ford anglia earlier this year, so I'm happy they appear in this set.
