They won’t touch that with a dirty rusty shovel, even ignoring that the sets are 95-99% based on the movies  Something tells me a set depicting a magical school employing slaves that are happy to be slaves wouldn’t go over so well. The filmmakers were wise to cut that particular subplot :laugh_hard: And the be whole Winky thing was just needlessly convoluted in the book, so her being cut was a good idea as well in my opinion.

Yeah i remembered the whole slavery stuff after my post (at this point and after Rowling scandals i just keep being attached to good memories about favorite HP-characters and keep forgetting some stuff that was in the books). Dobby's arc is amazing but knowing that he considered weirdo by other elves for his believes and how Kreacher acts in the movie, and how Winky was very miserable and depressive... i don't think we will ever get any of those.

That is where we differ. I think it means that we will get locations that haven't been done before as part of the castle system (i.e. the Hufflepuff common room) or that have been missing from previous iterations (i.e. the Owlery and troll bathroom which haven'tbeen done since 2001) in addition to the staples (which include the Chamber of Secrets and likely also the Forbidden Corridor). Even if a lot of these lications are done as sparsely as possible if the Hufflepuff common room is any indication.

We will get old and new locations for sure, but we will not get every location they already made either. I would guess we will get some part of the Philosophers Stone challengers, but whether we get Fluffy is just uncertain.

Based on what we’ve seen already across one large exterior set, two small exterior sets, and one small interior set, I think it’s safe to say the focus of the current line is not on scene specific rooms. The Owlery, great hall, classrooms, common rooms, and bathrooms are all a permanent part of the castle and apart from the smashed sink in the bathroom, they could all be from any of the movies (although I can’t remember any other films where we see the Owlery). We know we’ve got a few more classrooms coming and apart from the rest of the common rooms I’d expect to see stuff like Dumbledore’s office, staircases, the library, and a version of the room of requirement. One off rooms aren’t entirely off the table, we got the troll in the bathroom and we’re getting the dueling club, but I think those are generally going to be the minority. The trial rooms and the chamber of secrets could happen, but I don’t think they’re guaranteed.

I completely forgot they only revealed DA one day prior to its release :laugh_hard: Crazy. Fingers crossed they don’t repeat that!

The Chamber of Secrets is 100% guaranteed. It's the main focus of an entire movie and far more important to the series than, say, the dueling club from the same movie. And LEGO-wise it's been in every iteration of the castle system so far that actually had an underground section (and even the 2018 one which didn't still had the basilisk!). It's also big and therefore expensive, which LEGO likes. Leaving it out would make no sense whatsoever.

Agreed, it’s too much of a big ticket item to skip. And I think it’s kind of ridiculous to claim that the new system isn’t doing scene specific sets when there are only 4 sets in the new system with 3 of them having very scene specific elements to them and half of them only having one movie appearance each. And January promises to continue that trend with the Dueling Club and Flying Lessons being very scene specific with only Charms Class possibly being more generic like this year’s Potions Class.

In any case, I find it much more interesting to think of how they’ll construct the Chamber in this system. The nice part about the last one was the ability to combine it with Polyjuice Mistake so characters could open the secret trapdoor and slide down into the Chamber. The question is if they’ll make it so a trapdoor could be placed in different locations in the new system as well. The current modules are slid into the set with nothing underneath them, but they’re also all at ground/subterranean level. With the upcoming Flying Lesson set almost certainly covering a more generic multistory castle section than the Great Hall, I’m interested to see what sort of support structure upper story module slots will have, and if it will be compatible with putting rooms with trapdoors wherever we like.

I agree about "100%". Chamber of Secrets is basically a part of a castle's architecture... And they showed us that they were definitely doing the lower level of the whole castle structure. That's my most awaited part of upcoming detailed hogwarts. So curious how they will do the whole segment and how the new Basilisk will look like. The stone Godrik's head will probably be more detailed and brick built. So many expectations.

I wonder if they will chain movies to each Hogwarts part... The Great Hall is obviously a 1st movie inspired with the appearance the Fat Friar ghost, Quirrell and Troll. And next year we getting the (second movie inspired?) Dueling Club and probably a Chamber of secrets? (but it's a wide long section - isn't the next hogwarts part is that thicc giant tower?)But that's just random thoughts. It's so fun th speculate and be excited for this thing. (i'm just thinking about the new Fluffy build. If they will leave the first movie in The Great Hall set then we won't see the cerberus in further sets but I hope i'm wrong)

According to exabrickslegogo_ our predictions for the Weasley Clock GWP were indeed right and it's made of metal like the Star Wars coins and exclusive to purchasers of the Burrow, apparently releasing September 1st.

I assume an official reveal wouldn't be that far of now, probably next Friday or something.

Makes sense. Star Wars has been doing non-Lego promos for a while, and even the classic themes have gotten collectible coins and recently magnets as VIP/Insiders redeemable rewards. Harry Potter is getting up there in popularity so it was only a matter of time until they tried out the concept with this theme too.

I’m actually interested to see what it looks like. It will probably involve a clock face that’s larger than minifig scale, and it could be really cool to see an illustration of the Weasley clock Lego-fied at a level of detail they could never do in an official set.

A better look at the front of the box has been released with one of the designers holding it. Seen on Twitter.

Do we know how many bedrooms and rooms in general we are getting?  I've heard a bit of conflicting information.   I have to say on a sidetone though I'm a little disappointed we didn't get some form of garage build.
