Good point, that‘d be rather inconsistent. I‘m glad they still gave him the scars though I was about to say that means they‘ll likely reuse the print for a DH set, but then I remembered Gabrielle‘s sleeping faceprint that was never used for a lake task set Either way, we now have a Bill minifig that can easily double as his DH version with a different hairpiece, even if they never include him in a DH set.

That’s literally not a claim I made though. I just said that scene specific interior rooms seemingly weren’t the focus this time around and that they were focusing on rooms that are a permanent part of the castle. Aside from the destroyed sink in the bathroom, all of the rooms in all of the 2024 castle sets are implied to always exist in those forms and get visited regularly by the characters both onscreen and offscreen. When it comes to new sets charms classes and flying lessons are both things that happen regularly and we can assume the builds will be things that are permanent parts of the castle. The Hufflepuff common room isn’t ever even seen onscreen and has no scenes but gets included because it’s a part of the castle that is always there even if it’s offscreen. The dueling club seems more like an accessory pack to me on the level of this year’s advent calendar and probably won’t include an actual section of the castle. Even if it is, scene specific rooms are still the exception in this castle. The exterior of this castle is trying to be the opposite of the last one with modularity and interchangeable designs generally being abandoned in favor of a more accurate exterior. The interior is similarly going the opposite way with permanent parts of the castle like the classrooms and common rooms the last system ignored getting prioritized over the scene and story specific rooms like the stone challenges and Sirius’ prison cell .
mark1991t Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 Designer George Gilliatt has an video on his insta where he shows off the Burrow. There is a little comparison between the 2024 and 2020 Burrow. But something that hasn't been seen till now: You can easily place the pigpen to the front of the Burrow, to accurately show of the Chamber of Secrets version.

Yeah that's pretty cool, and the fact that the two halves are built completely detached from each other, so they can be built by different people. But I'm still bummed there's no living room in which to reenact Ginny feeding Harry a pie.
Jaromir Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 In overall, I like the new Burrow and most likely I will get it when it will be discounted. Like the fact it is much cheaper than the other D2C Harry potter sets, but at the same time I don't like it. I think they could use more parts and raise the price by 100$ and make it bigger and more detailed. We are still missing living room and the kitchen in my opinion is less detailed and smaller than in the old Burrow. Bedrooms do not look bigger, maybe little bit more detailed, but it is nice that they have added more bedrooms. The exterior looks amazing though.
mark1991t Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Reviews are out, like this one: Not so much new info, but it shows the second face-print of Molly and Ginny.

Molly’s alt face being angry shouting for her “Where HAVE you been!” speech. The neutral smiling face was already an upgrade from the reused Hufflepuff head but this just makes it perfect. I want a spare so I can make her shout “not my daughter you b*tch” in my Battle of Hogwarts set.
Big_Daddy Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Question for the experts (meaning you all): how does this new version hold up to older versions? I don't have the Burrow yet and I think it would be a nice present for my wife. But there's also the option of buyin the the one from 2020 MISB for about 100 euros compared to 260 euros for this one.

I think the Collector’s Edition is very much the definitive version of the Burrow. It’s got more rooms than the playset version and it includes every Weasley (plus Harry) which will likely never happen anywhere else. Actually, the minifig lineup in the 2020 version is pretty milquetoast - the only ones of any note are the only Fenrir Greyback since the reboot and the only brunette variant of Tonks we’re likely to get. People have actually been complaining for years about the reused heads and lack of skirt printing on Molly and especially Bellatrix. Most of the people here who say they’re not interested in the new version either A) already have an older version and can’t justify the Collector’s Edition budget wise, and/or B) aren’t that interested in the Burrow in the first place. The new version ultimately has significantly more interior room, is more detailed, has a better minifigs, and closes up to make a much better display piece. And for all that some people complain about the floo fireplace taking up a lot of room in the living room - the 2020 one did as well, to only reason it feels different is because the back was open so they could put in a hinge to open up the front of the ground floor so you could see everything behind the chimney better, and the fireplace wasn’t big enough to actually put a minifig inside to use the floo, it just switched between green and orange flames.

As @Accio Lego said, simply comparing the two sets the new Burrow is by far better than the old one. It's bigger, it has more rooms, it has a lot of references - stickers, but that's simply LEGO strategy - and details, it has all the Weasley family in an interesting variant - and Molly is an truly update version of her past minifigures - and from a collectors' point of view and it's also good to expose. If you're into Weasleys, this is probably a must have. Of course, any LEGO buyers can have its own reasons to not buy it - I won't, for example: it could be too big to expose - depending on how much free space you have or how you want your Harry Potter LEGO collection to appear; it could be too expensive; it could be not interesting, if you're not so much into the location or the Weasley family; it could be useless, if you already have the previous Burrow and most of the Weasley, you're not so interested in having new variants and you're good with what you have; and so on (in my case it's a mix of this reasons). It has some minor issues, like the nearly absent living room compared to the old Burrow and the ghoul in the attic and gnomes in the garden tragically absent considering it's a collectors' and definitive edition (but those aren't also in the old Burrow, this is just a personal complaining). There some interesting characters in the old Burrow - Greyback and Tonks, but nothing you couldn't easily find on second hand market. In the end, considering what you say in your question, I would suggest you to bought the new Burrow.
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 If I’m not mistaken, this marks the first appearance of an electrical outlet in LEGO form: (Taken from the review on brickset: https://brickset.com/article/112740/review-76437-the-burrow-collectors-edition) Brits, be proud of yours being the first I wonder if they plan to use it in other upcoming sets. It is a print after all!

mark1991t Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 The sticker for the Weasley-clock in the Burrow has a spellingmistake. Instead of 'School' it says 'Shcool', as pointed out by a commenteer on the Brickset-review.

Virginia_Bricks Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Built the Owlery yesterday and pleasantly surprised. It was my least favorite of this year's modular castle sets from pictures, but it stands up well and when it is 20% off it is a good deal. Might be the first set I get a duplicate of to MOC a more complete/taller Owlery.

One would think quality control would be a little bit better on these things, definitely when it's marked as the definitive version. Looking at the Daily Bugle this will probably never get fixed, which is a shame. If they could change an entire figure in a star wars set (75188) you'd assume a simple sticker would be easy as pie. Oh well, it's upside down anyway, so it wouldn't be too noticeable I suppose.

And the OE had printed pieces, which means they might be pretty valuable one day since the pieces with the correct spelling will end up being far more common.

Arjo Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Speaking of which, anyone knows what is the platform 9&3/4 small set that appeared on brickset today? Is it an adfitional gwp?

How long did it approximately take for them to change it? Pretty cool they changed it, although the fact it happens so often in these big sets is slightly worrying. 10 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: And the OE had printed pieces, which means they might be pretty valuable one day since the pieces with the correct spelling will end up being far more common. There was also an error in the Hogwarts Icons set on the big letter head tile. It should be titillandus, but said titillandos to start with. That error was also corrected, but I'm not sure how long it took. There was also technically another error which we know thanks to designer Marcos Bessa. The Wormwood bottle sticker has the number 349, but apparently it was meant to be 394 in reference to Snape entering the classroom and telling the students to open their books to that page.

Don't forget the printed DeLorean Flux Capacitor panel misspelling "Shield" from way back when. (Was that really over a decade ago?!?)
