If you like your LEGO sets as facades, that's of course fine. I personally don't. But I also don't see how what we get here is worth EUR 150 or 1.600 pieces. In my mind I compare it to, say, the 2021 Chamber of Secrets, Grimmauld Place, or the Hidden Side Haunted High School. All of those were cheaper (at least originally) and had fewer pieces, in some cases considerably fewer (and both Grimmauld Place and the High School had in-built mechanisms that needed extra pieces/space) but still looked at least as impressive. That's what I really mean by LEGO being cheap - I don't so much mind the price point but I just don't see the value here.

Chamber Of Secrets is overpriced, thankfully it's on sale at a few places but only for 120 euro

I love how you can connect them

I wish they didn't make that new Great Hall, it looks so much better, and I'm not even a fan of Harry Potter, I love the sets though, movies are good too

Oh, absolutely! But it still looks like a better deal to me than that Manor, so that should tell you something. ;-)

What do we think the next Diagon Alley shops will be?

I feel like Diagon Alley is done now, idk, it feels like all the main shops have been made (I know nothing about Harry Potter tbh) Would it really sell well making shops that are less memorable than the ones we got ?

Wouldn't mind getting more though, it's a nice display, I love Lego sets when they can connect to others and have expansions

Do we know if there's anymore Hogwarts expansions in January like the Boat House to connect to the Great Hall ?

Well there's something missing that could deserve a set and something that could return (as Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes or Ollivander):

1) Leaky Cauldron - this is a main location in the Wizarding World and we missed it also in the 75978_Diagon Alley set;

2) Flourish & Blotts is another location with a scene both in Chamber of Secret book and movie; it appeared in 75978_Diagon Alley set with Lockhart and Lucius Malfoy; I don't know how much it's possible considering that Lucius will appear in Malfoy Manor and Lockhart, likely, in the Dueling Club set.

3) Borgin & Burkes while not in Diagon Allet but in Knockturn Alley is another important location.

4) There are also minor shops that were in the past set, like Quality Quidditch Supply, Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour, Daily Prophet, Scribbulus that could serve as a secondary shop in a set.

5) In the far future, it would not be impossible in my opinion to see a smaller Gringotts remake.

As long as I know we have no info, but I think that the bigger winter set - Flying Lesson - could be an expansion. And Charms Class could be a switchable set for higher floors as Potion Class is in the undergound section.

If we look at the names of the rumored sets, we might be able to assume that anything with "Hogwarts Castle" in the set name will be part of the "Most Detailed Hogwarts" collection.  That would mean Dueling Club, Charms Class, and Flying Lesson.  Where these sets will go or connect is yet unknown.

I think that Charms is the cheapest, Dueling Club is a bit more expensive but with fewer pieces, and the Flying Lesson will be the largest addition.

There are some connection points on the back of the new Great Hall, so I would be curious to see if Dueling Club extends out from the back of the Great Hall, or if the Grand Staircase connects there.

I was talking about the D2C Diagon Alley stuff not the playscale

I wonder if Dumbledoor's Office,The Bridge and the Clocktower will be redone ?

Oh, I misunderstood what you were writing about :look:

In my opinion LEGO will not produce the other section of the street because it would appeal only a percentage of people that already had the D2C Diagon Alley: shops missing,  are, by far, a lot less interesting than the ones we already have, with only small scenes taking place in it (basically Harry buying is outfit at Malkin's - and this shop it's on shelf nowadays - and Hermione purchasing Crookshanks at Magical Menagerie).

Probably the only really appealing location missing from D2C is Leaky Cauldron and this is a set I'd like to see... of course, I could also create my own moc :snicker:

Exactly. The individual smaller sets work on their own, also because they each include a well-known shop. A D2C extension wouldn‘t work on the same level unless you already have one or both of the other D2C sets. The missing shops simply aren‘t iconic enough to warrant another ~$400 set:shrug_oh_well:

Besides, we now have a fourth version with the upcoming microscale one! Kinda crazy we have three different systems available all at once (though the latter isn‘t really a system per se because it‘s already complete)

Just got the new Ollivanders’ with all the gorgeous wand pieces. I love them, so much potential. Are there any characters who want/need their wands updated with any of the new ones from that set?

German LEGO News Blog zusammengebaut has a review up of the Wednesday dorm set. In case anyone wants to get a look at the gargoyles that will also be used for Malfoy Manor: LEGO-Wednesday-76781-Wednesday-and-Enids

I don´t think that they would skip Dumbledores Office, it is just such a important and also iconic location, would be surprising if the most detailed Hogwarts wouldn´t have it included. And sure they will not include every location and even very likely not all of the important ones, but I just don´t think that they would skip that one.

Unrelated to Harry Potter but those Gargoyles would probably show up in the D2C Arkham Asylum if rumors are true

It all depends on how LEGO would make the Grand Staircase Tower, but I don't think it will be unlikely to see the Dumbledore office occupy a floor in the upper part of the tower.

Wouldn't mind getting a new Dumbledore based on Michael Gambon, I think the year 1/2 versions of a lot of these characters are a little overrepresented in Lego compared to their later appearances

We haven’t gotten a Gambon Dumbledore since the Yule Ball based Clocktower in 2019. At this point the designers need to use him again or risk his hat and beard molds going defunct.

Agreed! I love Gambon‘s version and it‘s really baffling he was only included in one set and as a CMF, despite appearing in 3 times as many movies as Harris‘ depiction  Sure, he doesn‘t have that many costume variations, but I‘d take a redesign of the CMF one too! Or better yet, the HBP version with the cursed hand!

To be honest I just want one perfect version of each character. Dumbledore with Fawkes from the cmf is that to me.^^ I'd wish we get a better Flitwick with bald hair-beard-Combo.

Or the version with the hat! We‘re almost guaranteed to get another Flitwick in January, but I doubt it‘ll be much different from the one in the AC :shrug_oh_well:

I´ll take that one, too, to be honest... The stud on top of the bald head bothers me at the exsting version^^´

Do we know which of the new wands from the olivander store is meant wor wich character? The snake one is Lucius Malfoys, but in wrong colours, isn´t it?

Im kinda happy "it's just a facade" (naive me was seeing something similar to 10229 because The Burrow and Gringotts were complete building sets) - we have so many HP-sets and with that "the most detailed Hogwarts" being in the process (at the end of this line we gonna have an insane amount of sets, i'm not sure how people manage to buy everything and have space to display it), i'm glad i will save up some space. It's funny that we're at that point where you're glad you won't buy another set.

If i understand europan Amazon correctly, you will be able to get Malfoy Manor for around ~120eur eventually.

I know what you mean. I am glad I only bought the cute little Aragog-set a few years ago and limited my purchases besides that to the best special pieces like printed books, some cmfs, especially pretty versions of characters, animal moulds and so on. It will be interesting how large the most detailed Hogwarts will be in the end. From the preview in the instruction I expect it being about three times as large as the new great hall set in the end.
