£194.99 in the UK apparently.

I'm super surprised that Prince Florian was included in the set let alone the Witch. I think they could well have got away with just including Snow White and the Dwarves, so it's really interesting to see them throw in the other minifigures when they could have taken a 'you want the other minifigures, you buy the other sets approach'.

I wonder if they have been added for the additional play that it brings, with a lot more you can do for world-building around the set and the different scenarios you can play. I hope so, as it suggests that even with these 18+ sets, LEGO does always think about play and not just a cynical investor-led approach.

I couldn´t have imagined they would do this Set without the witch honestly - she is just so important for this theme. I could have seen them not including the prince but then again doing a set in this size I kinda would expect even him.

Well at least it appears to be a complete package with the Witch & Prince being included.  I can forgive them not including a few more animals like the deer.

Probably one of the most complete packages in TLG's history! Not many sets out there that include the entire cast of a movie minus one character (or two, if you count the magic mirror)  I'm pretty happy with the animals included, even though I wouldn't have said no to more rabbits and squirrels!

I could not agree more with you on that!

This is a really great set, the only person from the movie missing is the hunter who spares Snow White's life.

...

Perhaps this will be a set for another day? Wishful thinking!

Honestly, I have mixed feelings on this. The minifig lineup is perfect--zero complaints there!

I just feel like this could have been a slightly smaller set, which would have brought the cost down a bit--something more in line with #43217 The 'Up' House.

But given the fact that the set really needed at least 8 minifigures (Snow White + 7 dwarfs), maybe the higher price point was inevitable.

Smaller set = some people will complain.

Larger set = some people will complain.

I truly get you... there is value in making a smaller set for everyone. But justifying just perhaps the new face prints for seven new characters and a new beard will necessitate a large set to recoup their investment. Perhaps this is just the one set they will ever make of this fairy tale for quite some time.

This set will probably be a set they will perhaps keep on the shelves for a while because of demand, and folks can perhaps save up for it if not buying on day 1. I am comparing this to Rivendell. So big. So expensive. So worth it.

As said, perhaps this may be the only Snow White set we will be getting for quite some time, with its size and completeness. I totally get having several smaller sets in a series.

Lego is probably also testing the waters - comparing the sales of this item (based on a classic) with the much-maligned clamshell (based on the modernized/ retelling of a classic.)

Agree. I think they could have done it without the prince and just the witch. They could even have gotten away without the witch, too but I am not complaining!

Eeep, the roof looks a hot mess (imo) and with it taking up so much of the model on display it's a hard pass for me. The original submission had a much better balance. A few nice parts though, hopefully enough of them make it to PAB.

I know people were happy that the Up house was smaller and more affordable, and while that was part of its charm, I have to admit I would have preferred a larger, more expensive version just because the Up house we did get felt incomplete. It wasn't just the lack of Ellie or Kevin (or even child versions of Carl and Ellie), but the fact that so many important parts of the house were missing. Ellie's chair is so significant, especially considering the last scene of the movie, but it was omitted entirely. The mailbox lacked the handprints. Even the staircase with the stair lift that Carl uses to get up and down everyday was something I was expecting. And that's not even mentioning all the extra balloons people wanted. So I'm glad with the Snow White cottage, that we're getting one definitive version rather than a scaled down version which would have left only hopes or recriminations for a more complete set later in the future.

Based on how discounted the clamshell set is, I'm sure Lego is seeing that it was a set that didn't pay off. I'm still guessing that wasn't Lego's call as much as Disney's. I know the Up house was a bestseller (and got a lot of attention online as well) and I think the Winnie the Pooh and Villain Icons sets were too, so I'm expecting the cottage to be as well received as those sets.

My guess is that the moment they decided to include the coffin, they had to include Prince Florian. The coffin scene doesn't really work without him. It probably also helps that both the prince and witch are currently still being produced for sets on shelves so it was easy enough to throw them in there without having to rely on new molds like with the dwarfs.

Maybe the Huntsman can show up in a future CMF series. Perhaps with Snow White in her rags. If they ever did a Villains Icons set but with the henchmen of the main villains (like Mr. Smee, Horace and Jasper, LeFou, the King of Hearts, etc.) they could include him there.

While the Clamshell was a miss because of a poor pick of licensing, most of the other Disney sets and D2Cs especially have been smash hits that went OOS day one. So I'm expecting this to be similar and for us to feel the impact next year and beyond.

Well since I have the Evil Queen CMF it has the Magic mirror so that's covered for me.

Wasn’t there a rumour somewhere of the jewelled heart box the queen gives to the huntsman to bring Snow White’s heat back in becoming a set .. I imagine like a jewellery box ? Perhaps there might be a minifigure with that ? @BrickBob Studpants .. i just realised your comment is so true .. we have almost the entire cast in one set .. and the Queen / Mirror are available so only the huntsman missing from a 100% complete line up 👍🏼

The danger with cheap sets is that it will only tend to feature one angle of a structure, or depict only one or two scenes, etc. Case in point, the whole idea of the small Up House was to feature the house itself with little details. This only makes sense if you are releasing several sets in a series to complete a minifig line or show several scenes. This Snow White set features an iconic location with multiple scene possibilities. (Again, I am making a comparison with the Rivendell set where they decided to feature the entire fellowship of the ring.)

Great point about Prince Florian! Increasing the scene/ play possibilities by using an existing minifig!

It is good to see that Lego is adapting. They are adapting their adult Disney strategy and not giving up, perhaps to recoup the expensive Disney license.

I feel sorry for Lego that many have trolled that set everywhere. It is probably the only Disney minifig set that I did not buy. I could not care for it. But still, some comments on their web page were brutal. And I think the last few good reviews are sympathy reviews. LOL

Just realised .. not that you can see much as the picture doesn’t have much detail, but the image of the box art .. on the side of the box is that the back of the cottage .. it looks as though it’s open backed 🤔

Day 1 purchase for me.

Based on the roofline on the right side of the cottage, almost certainly is going to be a flush open back. That’s really the only downside to this set as I would have loved a fully enclosed cottage.

Quite anxious to see how the Maleficent set turns out

Guys, I am pretty sure that a closed-back version of this will show up on Rebrickable within a day or two of release. LOL!

Edit:

Someone posted a photo in the comments section on reddit an actual photo of the back of the box. Not only is it open, it somehow looks incomplete on the back. Nonetheless, as I said above, someone will MOC this to have a complete back wall and roof!

The back is a lot more open than expected, but the interior looks very cute and cosy to me! Love all the jewels they included here in the appropriate colours  The mining scene was always my favourite part as a kid, as I was a huge sucker for anything transparent (and honestly, still am)

Based on that image of the back of the set, I’m 99% sure there’s a hinge in the set. The top of the taller roof is at a different angle, and you can just make out the bump in one of the plate hinges. It looks like the upstairs where the beds are is exposed because that half of the thatched roof was removed, so it must be loose/fits into those panel pieces. But it’s an odd place to hinge the set, unless it’s just to get better access for playing?

Wow, this set looks fantastic. The build is simply perfect. Incredibly well done.

The minifigure selection is also excellent. Glad they included the Prince and the Witch, makes this set feel fully complete.

There's a brown squirrel as well. It's neat that they remembered the spider to use for the empty attic space. It doesn't look like there was room to feature all seven beds though which is a shame. Also is it just me or is the dining table right in front of the door which seems like odd placement?

I do like that the fireplace will use a light-up brick.

I'm curious what's in the room, behind the window and Doc inspecting jewels, featuring Snow White and Bashful. Maybe the sink or kitchen area where Snow White bakes a pie. Or maybe Grumpy's piano is set up there since it looks like Snow White and Bashful could be dancing like in The Silly Song.

It’s dark orange though, the piece doesn’t exist in reddish brown (yet)

So we have two squirrels, three birds, one butterfly and one bunny  Not as many as we would all like, but still a decent number

@nicknack116 .. yeah I can see the hinge too .. I also think that there may be a roof section that unclips to reveal the bedroom .. but they don’t tend to show that sort of thing on the box ( I don’t think ? ) 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit .. in fact of course the whole bedroom section is enclosed .. looking at all the pics .. both large sections of ‘thatch’ cover the bedroom .. they’re on the front of the box. d’oh ! 😂

But now I’ve just realised which way the hinge operates .. it ‘opens away from the viewer’ rather than towards ! So the back is flat and open.

I’m still loving it though.  I’m really liking the glass coffin section .. apart from that lavender leaf of the tree .. that’ll be going.

Some tan bunnies would have been a nice touch as that’s what colour most of them in the film were.

I imagine lots of us will be adding and customising the set 😁

Wonder if the little baby rocket raccoon they did would fit in ? I know there’s a friends one too, but they eyes 🙄

Yeah, strange place to have the hinge but I kind of like how the back looks, for some reason “feels” fuller when positioned that way

I wonder if Lego will have a designer video about this, and whether they will talk about the two submissions of hanswasyellofirst?

Perhaps Lego went back and forth on whether to release this or not, and whether to tie this in with the movie remake or not. Then the ideas submissions just got canceled in between.

I suspect budgetary issues. Ideas has gained a sizeable budget over by the years, but still. The set absolutely required fourteen new minifig prints, seven recoloured hats, and two new beard pieces to do the dwarves justice, and that may have been too much for a single Ideas set:shrug_oh_well:

Either way, I hope hanwasyellowfirst gets a copy of the set as a consolation prize :classic:

just found that image, and yes--it definitely hinges open, and the side-thatching of the roof comes off for easier access to the upstairs.

it's a shame they couldn't find a way to include the staircase, but I get it--staircases take up a lot of space and pieces, and there is already a lot going on here.

I'm guessing that Grumpy's organ will be included underneath the bedroom in the space that's not visible in the image.

overall I really like it. I'll just have to determine if it's worth saving up for the whole thing, or if I would be better off just BrickLinking some of the figures (I'm definitely leaning towards purchasing the whole set).

Had this same thought, curious to see how much the dwarfs go for, anything more than like 10 a piece and i feel I might as well just buy the set
