I remember hearing about the commotion regarding Lasseter but didn't realise if had so many internal implications. In addition to the new team and artists, I wonder how much of the strictness and extreme care put into avoiding any relationship/romance stuff has to do with what he did now that you've mentioned it. I don't know really know what people expected with the classic Aurora. Like you said, if you actually pay attention to who she and the story she does have heart and character. She has always been a good character in my opinion, and its definitely ironic that her live action counterpart had more time but had little development. Honestly I found Fanning's Aurora even weaker and straying further from the character in Maleficient 2 with her lack of compassion and voice of reason being completely absent. For me she came across as a bit arrogant - so much for an "improvement". I do feel that everything that Emma does comes from a good place - I truly. It's just a case of my sense of creativity and ideas of meaningful character/story development differing from how she chooses to execute her own visions. I do think though, respectfully to Emma, she should be a little more lenient with accepting the craft of others. Considering her value for being vocal and speaking out, you'd think she's apply that to experts and talent individuals in the film industry. I agree that Zegler is not someone with the same standing to make the remarks and choices she does, nor do I think they should be made at all. I agree that Disney is responsibile in many ways for allowing her to go about things so horribly, but honestly I don't understand how any individual wouldn't feel embarrassment of shame for intentionally upsetting people. I get that some people do take on such a reputation to boost their fame, but I don't know if this is or isn't the case for Zegler. For whatever her reasoning is, Disney has fueled her perception with their established direction with the live-action films - probably to get more clicks and attention for the film. I will give the key chain a go if I can't find an affordable Goofy - I don't mind if he doesn't perfectly match the one in the train set, having the classic fit is enough to make me happy. Dang I honestly didn't know how well the original train set sold, but if it didn't do so well I guess I'm better off making a MOC if I can learn to do so at that sort of a scale. I didn't realise the castle hair was Rapunzel's - I honestly thought if was Mulan but was never sure because although she too cuts her hair, it's maybe a bit more sensical to be Rapunzel considering she is a character known for her hair lol. Yeah I'm kinda slowly moving away from Lego Disney. I'll still going to look out for stuff and buy stuff that I'm keen for, but my excitement for it has started to dip as Lego has kinda ditched designs that had me so intrigued and made certain shortcuts. While I'd like to hope the upcoming set could be one of those amazing ideas you've described, I'm just going to hope that whatever it is will at least get me back into the property. That's all right, real life always comes first and I wasn't expecting a prompt response anyway. Pixar still has romantic relationships in their films, like Elemental, so I think it's not a completely Disney-wide decree because of Lasseter. Especially since Lasseter was more tied to Pixar than Disney animation. I think Disney animation (and by extension, the live-action remakes) are where Disney is most hesitant about romantic relationships because those are the movies that have received the most scrutiny in the past. Hence the need to correct those films with such an extreme stance now. I wonder if Elle Fanning's Aurora being even worse in the Maleficent sequel was because it came out specifically in the era when Disney was hyperfixated on "fixing" their princesses like in the live-action BATB and Aladdin. The first Maleficent, along with Frozen, started the trend of overturning classic Disney tropes but actually rewriting the classic princesses only started afterwards. In general, I've found most of the live-action actors don't always have the best sentiments about the Disney movies they're remaking. Even Keira Knightley, a favorite of mine since her POTC days, made same rather tone-deaf comments about Snow White and The Little Mermaid while she was promoting The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. In contrast, the lead actress for Nutcracker, Mackenzie Foy, was very sweet and said Cinderella was her favorite princess. She deserved a better film. I really think in Emma's case it was Disney's attempts at bending over backwards to get her to do the movie. And hoping that with her feminist status, they could deflect criticisms of Stockholm Syndrome for Belle since Emma did address that in promotion. We know they tried to get her for Cinderella so clearly they had an interest in working with her long before BATB. I also remember reading that when surveys were conducted of BATB audiences for the number one reason they watched the movie, 30% of people said it was for Emma Watson. That number might seem low but generally speaking, 10% is the highest percentage of audiences that go to see a movie for a particular actor. So this was a case where it seems Disney and BATB needed Emma more than the other way around. Which is ironic now because I don't think Emma would have that same pull for any other movie. It seems like BATB, as big a success as it was, ended her career. She might have been wiser in the long run to have picked La La Land over it since she was first choice for that. I do remember that so much of the hype for this particular remake seemed to revolve around Emma being cast so that 30% sounds accurate to me. As beloved and nostalgic a film it was, I do feel there would have been less hype and less of a box office had it been any other actress cast. It was the Emma/BATB combination that seemed winning on paper but artistically and creatively, didn't quite work. If Emma was ruined by BATB, it can be argued that was reciprocated by BATB being ruined by Emma. From people who have followed Rachel Zegler for a while now, they say she has a tendency to be very brash and sometimes rude in her opinion, so I imagine she doesn't really mind offending people with her views on Snow White. Particularly with how criticisms of this being the "PC" Snow White is something she's proud of as she feels it was needed. Honestly, someone like Mackenzie Foy from the Nutcracker movie, would have been a better choice for Snow White in the long run, but my personal guess is that it wouldn't be the Snow White the Disney of today wants to make. If your minifigs for Mickey and the gang are basically the classic versions from the CMF, then the keychain Goofy is a better match for them than the Disney Parks versions from the original castle. Donald is the only one who strangely enough didn't get his Disney Parks outfit for the castle. They reused his classic look from the CMF series. He's got more of a sailor inspired outfit with white accents in the parks. It might be easier to find the train and only the train being sold online. I wonder if it would be cheaper in the long run to get the station separately as well, if you want the station too that is. Yes, the instruction booklet for the Disney Castle showed which movies were referenced in the easter eggs and Tangled is cited for the hair. Pocahontas and Mulan had no presence in the original castle. I never understand why they used black hair for Rapunzel since her hair turns brown. Maybe they don't have that hair available in any shade of brown so it was easier to just use black. I had high hopes for the Lilo & Stitch set but based on the price point and piece count, there's no way they can do that full house justice. And while I'm happy with the upcoming Belle minifig, the lack of attention on Geppetto and Lilo has been disappointing. I don't expect Geppetto will get a new figure anytime soon (if ever) to warrant legs with actual printing on them and I don't see why they couldn't have given Lilo dual molded arms to portray her sleeves. There's not much variety for her skin tone in Lego so there aren't any viable options. So I definitely feel what you feel that the new Lego Disney sets have been pretty disappointing and I don't expect that trend to change anytime soon.

I do not disagree with you on that! However, disappointing is better than nothing at all (no fig produced). Or worse, it is the wrong version (tsk, tsk, remake version of the Little Mermaid). Here's to hoping we see more minifig sets! I wonder how soon they might consider another CMF???

I'm constantly seeing merchandise for that remake marked down as much as possible because it's still not selling a year later. Much like the Lightyear toys before that. I'm guessing 2026 would be the earliest for another Disney CMF. But it'll probably be 12 minifigs now. I'm sure the last one only got 18 figures because it was the centennial. 4 hours ago, Bobdapeach said: I don’t rly ready much here but I remembered there’s a lilo and stitch house set coming?? OttoRiver Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Given how classic sets seem to be on the table for Lego Disney's future, I feel like CMFs would be better suited to showcasing characters that we would not likely see in a set in the future. Example: Ariel in human form and Eric would make sense for a small Kiss the Girl diorama but King Triton doesn't have an obvious scene that translates. It would be better to put King Triton in a CMF and save Ariel and Eric for an actual set then.

I think CMF in the past has focused on main characters simply because there wasn’t an official minifig line. I agree that moving forward, they could do a mix if they keep up with minifig sets. I know people have complained about CMFs repeating into sets… but I wouldn’t complain if that’s what it takes to maintain 18 CMFs.

Would love to see the entire Tremaine family plus the Fairy Godmother as we're seriously lacking in Cinderella minifigs. Similarly, would want to see Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather along with Prince Phillip. I feel Oogie Boogie is very likely due to all the negative feedback about his exclusion from TNBC set (RIP Ken Page, Oogie Boogie's VA who just passed away). I can see him being paired with either Dr. Finkelstein or Jack in his Sandy Claws outfit (I'm assuming the latter will be unlikely if they keep him with the long legs). The Hunchback of Notre Dame characters are #1 on my wishlist though: Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and Frollo. Would love to see Phoebus and Clopin too, but the first three are a must. 6 hours ago, OttoRiver said: Given how classic sets seem to be on the table for Lego Disney's future, I feel like CMFs would be better suited to showcasing characters that we would not likely see in a set in the future. But King Triton is definitely a character better suited for a CMF series. Edited October 2, 2024 by JeanGreyForever

The current Ideas set captures most of them. The one obvious one would be Oogie Boogie’s lair, giving us Oogie and Jack as Sandy Claws, along with Sandy Claws himself. Outside of that, the only likely way to get them would be a CMF series(Oogie, Jack as Sandy Claws and Dr.Finkelstein), or some type of Villains 2.0 set.

They were part of the original Lego Ideas submission but didn't make it into the final product. I can maybe see Dr. Finkelstein's Tower getting its own set...a big maybe on that. It's the only other building outside of Oogie Boogie's lair that gets any merchandise. I think the same was true for Snow White and Winnie the Pooh's sets but I don't remember clearly for those. Winnie the Pooh was also a set I thought was a best-seller with guaranteed future sets, especially since the Lego designers mentioned plans for expansion sets, but none of that ever materialized.

Maybe the Pooh and Sesame Street sets weren't as successful as they appeared?
jjr_2009 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 I think we'll definitely see more minifig-based Disney sets in the future, but I highly doubt it will ever match the output of the Disney Princess mini-doll theme. And that's okay in my book--as long as we get some minifigures! I think all of the previous Disney CMFs have sold relatively well (particularly the recent series) so I would expect to see those make a comeback at some point (probably not until at least 2026 though). I'd love to see them fill out a few character rosters (by giving us Meg from Hercules or Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty, for example) as well as feature films that haven't previously gotten minifigures (like The Sword in the Stone or The Jungle Book). There are also tons of Mickey & Friends variants that could easily be made.
Jarreth2 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Have people seen the new upcoming Cinderella polybag ? Her hair is a much more appropriate colour for Cinderella, I’m just unsure if it’s the same mould that the minifigure from the Disney Castle has ???

Yes, that Cinderella hair really does look way more accurate. It doesn't look yellow like Aurora's hair but something darker with more of an orange tint. It's definitely the same hairpiece though. I'm curious if the blue of her headband and earrings is the exact same as the light blue old hairpiece or if they're a darker blue too. From the pic, I can't tell if the blue just looks darker because of lighting. The minidoll wears a darker blue so maybe they did adjust the colors of her headband and earrings along with her hair, but I hope not. The light blue from the original minifigure was accurate enough. I was hoping for the Cinderella hairpiece to be released in a dark blonde/golden brown color so this might be it. Even Aurora now has her hair in bright light yellow instead of regular yellow in one of her latest minidoll sets so it'll be nice if both princesses have accurate hair colors.
