One can only hope. The set would definitely be very popular if they did that! :excited:

Given it’s getting released in a month and some change, I assume leaks are imminent

Yes I've been lurking on here and insta a bit more often just for a leak!!! I'm so keen yet equally worried. I hope that they keep all originally included minifigures. I would love an updated Ariel, Aladdin, ans Elsa in addition to Belle! I could cope with them not repeating existing minfigures (I've already swapped out heads for Ariel and Elsa to better match the recent style of Disney minifigures), but if Belle is out... Yeah, I dunno' how I'll feel haha.

I have a thought on Belle and the Beast .. I wondered if when the new Disney Castle retires ( and yes I realise it will be a long while yet ) would they do the Beast’s Castle, obviously include Beast in both forms, Belle in more than one outfit, the objects ( new moulds please ) and also their human forms. One of the main rooms would be the ball room .. with doors tat open to reveal the dance floor, with a facility yo make them dance together, perhaps motoriseable with hidden magnets somewhere ?

I have neither the space, nor the money, for two big Disney castles. I was able to justify getting the most recent iteration on sale, but I don't think I could do it again just for Belle and the Beast. Maybe if it was at a smaller scale I could make it work - but other wise, no dice for me.

If that is the case, it would be very funny that Target has been the lone source of Beauty and the Beast material minifigs, since Gaston was with the exclusive Villain Icons set. If it has Belle and the Beast, and is around that price range, I'll keep it on my radar.

If we want to use the Viking Village as a comparison, we knew the part count/price in late July and had official photos at the end of August (August 31st, to be exact). So, I imagine we will get more info very soon - I'd guess sometime next week, unless Lego needs to promote something else instead. I'm also not going to expect much in the minifigure department - I think at most there will be four, and probably no new molds (like Villain Icons). And I think there's a good chance Stitch might take a slot and be reused in the Lilo and Stich house next year (he's also in the initial design, and the Evil Queen was reused in the Snow White Cottage shortly after).

Yeah I'm ready to expect about four minfigs as well, and while I have my ideal selection, I have a feeling two slots will definitely be taken up by Pinocchio and Stitch. I have my doubts about the last two slots being both princesses, and my guess is Aladdin will be the third, leaving Ariel or Belle as a fourth. I just have this looming feeling that Lego won't do two princesses or more. Not sure as to which one, but both have more accurate hair pieces, particularly Ariel who has a brand new design. Bye bye Elsa... 😬

I can see them picking Ariel, again for the new hair, and Lego can avoid the bigger dress piece that you'd would expect for Belle. I can also see them picking Belle seeing that she was given more easter egg attention in the castle and granted that we have Gaston already.

That's my pure speculation though. I would love to have them all included.

I think the Magic Set might replace the original Pinocchio with Moana and reuse the minifigure from the 100th anniversary train while keeping the idea of a "boat character". Stitch seems possible to be included and later reused at the Lilo house set. If the set keeps Cendrillon's carriage, I feel the original Belle could be replaced by Cinderella from the Castle. The fourth minifigure could be Aladdin (hopefully in his Prince Ali costume!). Maybe, we could get either Dumbo or Bambi from the camera set too. In all, we would have Dumbo/Bambi and Cinderella from old Disney and Aladdin, Stitch and Moana from "recent" Disney. I can't wait for the reveal though!

Apart from Prince Ali, I think the rest would send me into tears 🥺

Kidding, kidding - however, it would not surprise me if that's the stunt Lego decides to pull...

Keeping expectations low can't hurt but I agree. With the piece count being much higher than the hard line 800 limit on the contest, it wouldn't shock me some minifigures were cut to save some money.

The theme is called "Ideas" for a reason, all they have to do is to adapt the general idea of the fan project, not any of the specifics unless they're absolutely necessary for the set to work. The general idea of the winner is a buildable Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey with multiple vignettes surrounding him, so them changing the vignettes to accommodate minifigs that are still in production as you suggest here is not outside the realm of possibility.

Then again, the Ideas team usually stays pretty close to the fan designs and cheapening out by replacing so many of the vignettes just so they can recycle currently available minifigs seems not like something they would do  Ideas has a sizable budget now and they went all-out with the 100th anniversary sets last year, so it would be a weird development.

It's been used in other places - it was in a Build a Minifig at Lego stores recently, and it'll be with the Harry Potter advent calendar this year. And, oddly enough, they used that piece in the Disney camera image of her and the Godmother, so they may wait and do that variant later, maybe in some $60 carriage with her, the Fairy Godmother, and the pumpkin carriage.

Maybe in the future then, but after not getting a Sleeping Beauty minifigure set and the Frozen D2C set also being a minidoll set, I feel Disney is mostly going to keep the princess sets minidoll themed. Snow White was an exception because it's historic but I don't see Cinderella getting anything beyond minidoll treatment if it got its own set.

Out of the hundreds of designs submitted, Lego specifically chose only five designs with this one being the one they clearly wanted to have win since it was the only one that featured a range of Disney movies rather than focusing on just one. Based on that, I think Lego probably felt this concept was one they felt comfortable being fairly accurate to without major changes so I'd be more surprised if the final set departs from any of the movies in the original submission.

I also don't expect to get more than 1 character per film. If we're lucky enough to get Belle, I don't see us getting the Beast too.

I just want some costume changes. Like Ariel as a human (although that wouldn't really work with the set design of her swimming), Aladdin as Prince Ali, and Elsa in her Frozen II white gown. I know this isn't ever going to happen but would be neat to get Pinocchio with his donkey ears and tail too.

I adore this!!! I want some variants alongside character additions *cough cough - blue dress Aurora too please - cough cough*

I would love a human Ariel in addition to an updated mermaid Ariel too, but yes a mermaid Ariel would be better suited to the set design. Theoretically though, if we do get a human Ariel, you can just take the head and hair of human Ariel and pop onto her CMF mermaid body.

If Lego does produce an updated mermaid Ariel then would we be expecting changes like the CMF TNBC and ideas sets?

I would think it would make sense if they did. Particularly with female Disney characters, they have what I would describe as 'Lego movie faces', where their mouths/teeth do not use black lining and an open smile is simply depicted as red and white. If you look at recent Disney female minifigures, they use the black lines. I'll upload a photo in a minute to better describe what I mean.

**Edit**

Okay I've included a photo. The left side is what I mean by a very 'Lego movie face' versus on the right the most recent and typical design for minifigures. I've even gone and updated my Ariel's headpiece with Kate McCallister's to have all my minifigures share the same style in face printing. Can share photos of this for anyone who wants to know if it looks good and try doing so themselves.

The Maleficent set and mini Sleeping Beauty castle set were the best chance for a blue dress Aurora.

Since we haven't had an animated Ariel minifigure since 2016, I think it's more likely we'll just get a new version of that like we got with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell last year. For people who didn't catch the mermaid Ariel minifigure back then.

Besides the face, there's also the fact that I think Ariel's hairpiece from her 2016 minifigure hasn't been used again since then. They did bring back the Alice hairmold last year so they could presumably bring back Ariel's but I could also see them reusing the minidoll hairpiece instead.

I didn't notice the black lines on the mouths were new! Thanks for sharing that because I wouldn't have caught it. The Kate head does look similar to Ariel's and is a good substitute although the one thing I'll say is that Ariel has very dark brown eyebrows in the movie whereas Kate has orange eyebrows.

Alice also has brown eyebrows in the movie though so her blonde ones aren't super accurate even on the official minifig. And Snow White was known for her pencil thin 1930s eyebrows so I don't know why they went with such thick eyebrows.

Yeah that's the only thing with the Kate head, the eyebrows are orange instead of dark red. From a distance you don't really notice until you take a closer inspection. I think I might send a photo when I get home because it is a good substitute to continue recent facial printing trends nonetheless. I love the alternative shocked face too, as I often pose her with Ursula with a small build of her "voice orb". That face works perfectly for capturing her reaction to the voice exchange in the film.

I've always wanted Alice but the face always seemed too off, and in fact I think it's the eyebrows now that you've mentioned it. I would love a new one where this is fixed. As for Snow White, I would say her eyebrows are thicker due to modern depictions.

SW minifigs always gets bespoke molds and the recently released DnD CMFs got really good prints. Makes me wonder why Lego flounders so much when it comes to Disney minifigs.

My complete guess, from a business point of view, why would you put as much effort into a new line of sets that basically share the same concepts as the more established and confirmed profitable Disney princesses line but just features minifigures.

A case I think is relevant to this is the Maleficient diorama. They wanted a "play set", but apart from a doll house castle I'm sure dragon Maleficient would still be able to be posed and you had a setting suited to acting out the Philip and Maleficient battle during play. You could have still thrown in Aurora too if there was a concern that children would not think it was a Sleeping Beauty set as she was missing - simply add a small side build of her bedroom similar to the coffin in the Snow White set.

They just knew they would get a guaranteed sale with the disney princess line and could save on creating new prints and new minifigures with an existing Philip doll while recycling a pink Aurora as the set is not attempting to completely replicate the movie scenes or concepts (Aurora would have to be blue). With the Disney princess line, it prevents the risk of selling a set for Sleeping Beauty and younger children not recognising the property because she isn't included or she's not her typical pink portrayal if included, it allows bright colours to attract children, it is not outright based on a scene which avoids complaints of inaccuracy, and it saves money for using old designs for exisiting dolls.

Just got home. Here's a photo of Ariel with the Kate McCallister head. You can definitely tell the eyebrows are orange when this close but, even by being just a bit further away, the shadow of her fringe darkens them enough to appear like they are of a deep red colour.

The shadows from the fringe of her hair helps to cover the color of her eyebrows. It really is a suitable face for Ariel even if her scared face has lines underneath her ages which slightly age her.

Love the idea of using the scared face to pose with Ursula stealing her voice.

Since Wendy and Alice have the same face (and voice actress), an alternative would be to give Alice the head that Wendy has. But even Wendy's head is a reuse of Cinderella's head so you'd have three identical looking characters.

Yeah I can certainly agree that the eye lines do age her a little haha.

I find that having Cinderella's head being used on Wendy slightly unfitting - ages her too a bit. Nonetheless, I wonder how the head would look with Alice's hair 🤔

Wendy with Alice's face and Alice with Wendy/Cinderella face. I think it works for Alice but Alice's face looks a bit too oddly spaced on Wendy's head.

Well, Lego always thought that their products are for kids and they even went into financial trouble until SW came along.

Case in point, Lego has always made Disney as '...little girls' toys...' but grown ups also would like to collect Disney but in minifig form.

I actually like the Alice head on Wendy. Makes her look younger.

The Cinderella/Wendy head looks too mature for Alice. Like a grown woman instead of a little girl. The eyebrows are technically the right color but they stand out too much here especially since these brows are much thicker than Alice's from the movie.

I think the Cinderella head does look better on Alice than it does Wendy, however, yes I agree that she looks like an adult rather than a child. But, as for those darker eye brows, chefs kiss! Definitely confirms for me that it must be the eyebrows of the actual Alice head piece that throws me off. Speaking of the Alice head piece, swapping it on Wendy works too and, while I think it is very much just the lighting, it isn't as jarring to me when used on Alice. Thank you though for sending us a photo Ottoriver 😁

100% - I understand Lego's philosophy to an extent but yes they need to acknowledge that adult fans do exist and will buy their products if they make minor adjustments that cater to them. I think the Disney Princesses line still has it's place though.

And surely there is a benefit to appealing to adults even if adults might not buy the set themselves. Take a parent who has nostalgia for Lego, I would think if they come across a set that they think "wow I would absolutely love this set" and they have a child who has the potential to be interested in Lego if only they were introduced to it, they would be more inclined to buy it for their kid.

We’re getting Belle, Lilo, Geppetto, Bruno, and a minifig scale Simba?! *huh*

Holy moley this is awesome!! They knocked it out of the park! Now if only we had Beast and Mirabel (or other Encanto characters) as well

Kinda funny how Bruno is the only Encanto minifig and yet the only main character without a minidoll :laugh_hard:

Ok so after the shock that we’re actually getting Belle has subsided slightly I’ve had a better look at this. It’s good, very good. It’s minifigures for a start Simba is a “Friends’ mould, 🤔but I can understand that choice. Gepetto looks wonderful and I can see people adding Pinocchio too. Lilo looks great, i like how they’ve achieved her height with the 1x2 printed brick, is she using the Pocahontas hair thoughThe Fantasia brooms .. perfect Bruno .. strange choice ( to me ) I like that he’s a minifig, but he’ll be the only Encanto fig that is. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Flounder and Sebastian are a nice touch, but without Ariel seem misplaced. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Now to Mickey, it’s good. Is it as good as the original submission .. no. When you look at the original picture though you realise from the parts they used the MIckey build would have been huge. Lego have reduced the size, but it’s made it look very blocky. The roundness of the gloves on the original and the roundness of the face, hat etc gave it a classic Disney look. I’ll be buying it of course. It’s a solid 7/8 out of 10 for me. I think the only way they’ll ever achieve a Beast figure is by making him a ‘big fig’
