People seem to forget that new things captivate audiences all the time. If it looks good (even if it looks bad, see the Acolyte) people will flock to it and like it.

Batman's great and all, but other heroes need to get the spotlight. I don't think current storytelling climates would stay true to classic shows, so a continuation of previously cancelled works, while exciting on paper, wouldn't mesh all that well in actuality. For a tame example of this, X-Men 97, while great, doesn't match the original show's tone. For a more egregious example of this, Young Justice. Season 3 was tolerable, but Season 4 completely lost the plot, AKA the show's storytelling structure went out the window.

So, while I'd love to see all of Bruce Timm's Lantern plans to come to fruition (and I always imagined GLTAS and BTB sharing the same universe), I'm afraid it wouldn't be the same.

Sure, new things can captivate audiences, but for a franchise on the ropes, especially when the best way to reinvigorate the brand is a children's cartoon, you either need to come in from SUPER off the wall (Transformers with beast wars) or come out with your strongest asset (batman). I dunno what sort of complete reinvention they could do for DC, as the supehero genre is so well-populated that the superhero PARODY genre is starting to get a bit crowded. An Ambush Bug series with immaculate writing could probably outdo a mediocre batman one, but if I wanted to try and get a new generation of fans into DC, and I didn't have Timm or Dini on deck, I know which hero I'd choose.

 

That latter paragraph is something I agree with and was actively attempting to point out- continuing previous works isn't a exactly the best way to draw in a new audience.

No, it'll be marketed as a batman show with no hint of green lantern. At the end of the first episode, Bruce is killed by a crashing spaceship... one that pilot Hal Jordan finds.

Welp, I guess it's safe to say we won't be getting any Batman sets besides the 66 Batmobile until June 2025 again, somehow this thread will still be active from now until then, see you guys until June 2025 when they release the long awaited UCS Batmech that can fit a buildable figure inside including an exclusive Doctor Light Minifigure (this unknown villian's crimes are worse than Homelander's)

-Actually, I'm not quite sure if that's the case. I only have one built right now- the 2021 tumbler- but I feel somewhat confident that at some point as a kid I bought a DC set or two, and they just got disassembled or lost over time. 

Generally speaking, with the superhero themes I'm more interested in figures and/or scene representations rather than vehicles. My only currently displayed marvel sets are the Bugle, NWH final battle, and a few Halls of Armor (2019) for an iron man display. As a result- and since I don't really want to buy multiple similar and increasingly expensive batmobiles, I don't have much of a DC display.

Apologies for going off-topic, but I have been watching BtAS for the first time and it absolutely lives up to its reputation!
We definitely need more sets based on the series (Batwing, Batcave, and maybe even a 4+ set if it includes a unique character), as well as a CMF (since there are only so many vehicles and location playsets that can realistically be made).

That's one of the most on topic comments here in all fairness. And yes, it is host to several characters, scenes and vehicles that would look good in brick.

I mean Joker is also implied to have committed that particular crime once or twice. But he's done so many things that it's not going to be the first thing that shows up when a kid googles "jonkler batman villain" or whatever. It's probably the most well-known Dr. Light story at this point, which is why it baffles me so much that they were like "yeah, let's put him in our lighthearted, borderline brainrot kid's show"

... dude. I'm only seeing one post about that, and while immature and pretty bog-standard turtle strangeness, I don't know if it's right to just go around implying a member of the forum is that. If you cut through the turtleness of it, there's a little bit of something there. Lego has been trying to add more figures with more skin tone colors, and if they remain adamant that they're just going to do batman- and primarily movie batmen at that- there's not a ton they can do there. Now, that's probably not even a contributing factor to why we get so few DC sets, but it is kind of ironic that lego could get more diversity in their sets if they'd actually do something with the theme. (And far from turtle's first random guess as to why lego isn't making more DC sets)

Same! My only problem with a Doctor Who CMF is that there are far too many characters for a single CMF (or even one per year!) to cover! 

A NuWho-based series could work with 18 slots, covering the bare minimum of characters.

I'm surprised to hear a few of you only have 1 or 2 sets, thought people in the thread would have close to a hundred 
I'll be interested to hear what sets you have. for me, I have the 2006 Batcave, 2006 two face chase, 2006 Killer Croc set. 2013 Arkham. 2017 Clayface. 2017 joker lowrider. 2021 tumbler 2023 batwing. 2023 polybag and batmobile. as well as many minifigures like 2006 Joker, 2019 Catwoman, big fig bane
I've had more over the years like all the 2012 wave but sold them to get retired or newer sets or just money.
