The split was made earlier this year Unlicensed stuff is either in boxes or in the living room But yeah, I’ve never looked at a DC set and thought it wouldn’t be worth it. Sure, the 4+ sets aren’t exactly my cup of tea, but I still buy them since they have nice prints, the minifigs often have something exclusive about them, and I can’t stand gaps in my collection Another question then — why do you buy some sets (unlicensed, as you said) just to keep them in boxes? Are you saving them to make a profit someday? Quote

Not interested in reselling. I do have duplicates of some sets that I could sell if I wanted to, but it’s not worth the hassle to me and I have no intention to join the dark side The only set I ever sold was a second copy of the 2020 Burrow, and I did so to a friend of my sister‘s for the original retail price. I have 1072 sets according to Brickset ( though I might have forgotten to log some of them) though a lot of them are quite small ( median part count of around 190ish) and that does include stuff like CMFs and magazine gifts. ( Though CMFS are the ones I forget to log most often). DC specifically I have 83, which consists of 26 DC comics sets, 9 TLBM sets, 3 Dimensions sets, 14 DC CMFs and 31 TLBM CMFS. My largest DC set is the 2013 arkham and my smallest is tied with the Shazam polybags and TLBM CMF Orca. Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 I’m feeling like a peasant now. Tbh I only have about 5 DC sets in total. + a few CMF characters. My measly Justice League is made up of Batman, TLBM Commissioner Gordon, GL (Simon Baz), Shazam, Metamorpho and Green Arrow. My Villains are: TLBM Mr Freeze, Joker, TLBM Penguin, Harley Quinn and Deadshot. This is why I want a cheap Superman set next year. With Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Superman, Lex and maybe Supergirl. RedHoodPug Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 What's the threshold for set? Are we counting the CMFs and the figures in polybags? Quote

I don‘t count CMFs, because as @Agent Kallus points out, every individual CMF figure counts as its own set on Brickset, rather than the whole series If we counted those too, I‘d have over 5000 sets Polybags do count in my book. I ain’t a scalper Preface- while it's not my actual job, I do some reselling so I can afford to buy sets. Primarily things I used to own, or purchasing bulk ebay lots and building the sets within them. I don't think reselling is dark side, I think it's if anything beneficial to the community. Scalping by buying a ton of copies of a currently-in-production set to try and force people to buy scalped copies instead of retail ones is scummy, as is buying up all the supply of a secondhand item to artificially inflate the price, but generally speaking, reselling helps fans get sets they missed at the time. I know I'm happy I was able to get sets like the 2014 star destroyer years after retirement. Even when prices go up, if they do so naturally, I don't see an issue. I personally try to have my sets and figs be the cheapest ones listed on BL in my country at the time (though many sellers do, so oftentimes I'll have to go back and reprice a shelfwarmer), but if someone wants to list a generic stormtrooper for $50, it's a pretty dumb move as it's probably not going to sell, but unless you buy all the others to make yourself the only option, I don't think it's dark side. 1 hour ago, legoturtle said: What I just read ... I honestly feel like Lego has no faith in the theme that they'll just put everyone in 1 set instead of Marvel which spreads characters through different sets because they know for sure it'll sell since it's Marvel, example:GOTG 3 Sets Actually I'm expecting too much with that, We'll be lucky to get Superman,Lex and Lois at this stage Quote

Gunn used it in his slate presentation video last year. It’s not concept. Where is Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl?! We’ve now got images of Lois Lane. And they actually went with the Purple shirt!! The Actress looks perfect for a comic accurate Lois. Gunn definitely cooked with the casting. Quote

Obviously, haven't seen him in the role yet, but judging by his acting abilities, looks, and my expectations, I am beyond excited to see him in this role. Quote

Only thing I miss about the DCEU is Ben,Henry and the Knightmare timeline, other than that nothing really,I like Zack Snyder but I'm actually open to this reboot and I hope it does well, would love to see a Justice League movie that has the characters getting on well together like the JL Animated Series, I think they should have a balance of light and dark tones, I wouldn't want Batman to be light toned unless they do it well when he's with the Justice League, I fear Superman will fail at the box office. Fingers crossed Superman makes 600M$ or more so it breaks even or is a success, it has to make money to be successful, that's what decides if it'll get a sequel and the story of the universe continues. Let‘s hope Gunn is cooking with Supes, because otherwise the DCU is cooked, and the DC theme with it So far, everything looks great in my opinion, so I‘m not worried yet. The general buzz seems to be positive too, however, the deciding factor won‘t be us fans, but general audiences. I think the time is right for a optimistic, positive take on Supes after Mopey McSadface (no shade towards Cavill though, he did well!) And for the love of Batman, no Jesus imagery this time! Twice was already two times too many. Thanks. Edited June 26, 2024 by BrickBob Studpants Quote

Twice was already two times too many. Thanks. Wait did Returns or the Reeves films have much of that? I don't mind the Jesus imagery- while it feels a little egotistical on the director's part (and I say that as a fan of the Snyder cut movie), in-universe it does kind of make sense for people to have a similar reaction, especially if he's one of the first heroes around. Though given there seems to be an established amount of heroes in this movie- even if they're not a league yet- I think it won't show up this time around, which is also perfectly fine by me. I dunno why we aren't talking about Caped Crusader. That trailer and poster are both absolute peak-in-the-making. If it sticks with the TV-PG/light TV-14 tone it seems to have (It seems to be a fairly mature story and they use realistic-if not modern-guns, but I don't see any blood), and kids tune in, it's got the potential to be the cartoon that brings DC back. legoturtle Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Well, . . . . . . the art style in BCC is a bit simple. Similar to the Batman animated movies in (Apple TV). It looks computer made NOT hand drawn. BUT over all this TV show looks very interesting. Actually I want to see the trailer RIGHT NOW! Again... that means something. Spoiler A lot happening in DC world. Spoiler Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 @legoturtle, I’m sorry to inform you that there appears to be some sort of Magic Spirit featured in the Caped Crusader trailer. So my condolences for the loss of your desired *realism.* Anyway, the plot synopsis for Lanterns has been revealed. “The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland, I’m a bit concerned about this for a few reasons: 1) If John’s going to be a new recruit and Hal’s going to be older it might mean that Hal might become Parallax in the season finale, and John once again steals Kyle’s storyline. 2) Tom King is on the writers team, he can either be excellent with GL like with Hal’s Darkseid War one shot, or terrible like the time where he made Hal say he doesn’t know what will is. 3) The show takes place on Earth, Green Lantern is primarily a cosmic hero, so why the Kriff are they not using space where the best parts of GL lore are. At the end of the day, I’m sure I’m just nitpicking. And I’m just happy to be getting GL content. Quote
