Jesus, that costume's terrible!  I like Kendra's though, very street, very tough.

I should clarify, Guy's costume isn't bad for a DC character, it's just not a Lantern uniform, and definitely not Guy Gardner.

Also, that wig makes Nathan look like a Grandpa (or an ex-president ).

All of the suits (Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl) have Maxwell Lord's logo.

Pretty sure the suits are leather-y and overdesigned on purpose.

Guy Gardner leaked.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

Hawkgirl is also not looking that good. I like the helmet and Mace though.

It is a terrible design for Guy, and Nathan Fillion somehow doesn't look good in the photo. I assumed he'd get something but that's a rough wig (also, it's not even a ginger wig? Why are we giving Guy a wig if not to make his hair the right color?)

It's a set photo and not a true reflection of what we'll see on screen. The online uproar and mockery is on par with the photo of Superman putting his boots on, and all of that was proven wrong.

The photo of superman putting his boots on was mocked more for how it was shown off than the suit itself, at least where I saw comments on it. These suits are seen from multiple angles here and look pretty bad in my opinion.

That'd be a funny critique of modern superhero suits, but at the same time I'd much prefer Superman to dispute other modern films just by... being a good superhero movie that doesn't have to be meta.

Either way, they've given Guy an odd wig that's not even the right color, which is still my main gripe. You're literally giving the actor a wig, you can't be bothered to make it the right color?

Ginger is loosely defined these days, so I'm not too bothered by the color, It's "ginger-esque" which is good enough. The wig itself is just plain bad.

Ditto on the meta thing, though.

That's a lazy excuse, considering the other two look great. Mr. Terrific is basically ripped from the page, and Hawkgirl's outfit at least suits her personality. Besides, that'd be a stupid idea for a Green Lantern costume to not be designed by the wearer (and thus created by the ring). Lord should have no input on Guy's costume (and Guy wouldn't let him, come on).

And before you say "but he's powered down", the costume is not a physical uniform. It's never a physical uniform. It is always a construct in and of itself.

It seems pretty blond to me for a character who's usually got orange hair. I get that redheads never get translated to screen anymore (Even Daredevil, the best superhero show of all time, missed it) but if we're going to the extent of giving the guy a wig, why not go for accuracy?

I agree that Mr Terrific's outfit looks good (His jet...exoskeleton? is odd, but I'll grant that it probably will have some CGI on it), but yeah, Lord's influence doesn't salvage Guy's suit. He wouldn't throw in with Lord to that extent.

My point being that it wasn't from the final product and was still unceremoniously roasted.

In a previous life I was an extra in films. One of them was directed by Spielberg who required a certain sky so there was an awful lot of waiting around. I spent my time talking to the props team, who had previously worked on Saving Private Ryan, the Harry Potter films, and Hellboy II. One of their ongoing issues was historically accurate props not looking realistic on film. I was shown a board featuring different sutures that were screen tested for SPR, including the cat gut sutures that were actually used by US Army medics on D-Day. The one chosen was anachronistic but looked better on screen. Those guys hated the nerds who slagged them off on WWII forums for being crap at their job. They had to sign the Official Secrets Act prior to watching a little seen film of D-Day casualties to get inspiration, and nearly all of the ones they witnessed and interpreted with prosthetics ended up on the cutting room floor because of the disbelief in early screen tests. Hence the casualties seen in the final film are gruesome but not as gruesome as they could easily have been. I can guarantee you that the wig sat on Fillion's head was not the first one they found, nor was it one they settled on, and that you'll never please all of the fans all of the time.

You guys are discussing costumes, not noticing how bad the filming process is overall. They aren't even trying to create something decent. Even if the costumes were OK, the movie wouldn't have been.

We live in the franchise-killing epoch, when everything significant, created throughout the XX century, is being destroyed by artistic incompetence and lack of creativity. Even those who created the masterpieces we love understood that the main source of profit is not the piece itself - it's goddamn merch, that people will buy no matter how bad the creation itself is.

This is the reason why Disney is ruining Star Wars, and DC are ruining themselves, with both not being afraid of the consequences - merch will never let them feel the repercussions of their utter lack of respect for fans' feelings.

Disney is Disney. AND I have heard that enough is ENOUGH. Kathleen Kennedy will be moved away! (WOKE)

DC is a bit different. Marvel = Disney and now there is Marvel guy in lead ... so my worst nightmare is that they try to copy what Marvel did. Think about what kind of amazing Batman movie things we have:

- 1966

- Burton era

- Schumacher era

- Nolan trilogy

- The Batman

- The LEGO Batman Movie

- Batman the Animated Series & Mask of Phantasam

- Batman: Caped Crusader

Success after success for me. What can go wrong... well Justice League and Batman v Superman tried. For me ok movies both. Do I like guy who can fly, laser eyes and invinsible. No,,, hell no!! BUT is it Disney trash like SW or Marvel. Ouhhhh God give us some mercy.

To any LEGO DC designer that can read this message: send help. Your fanbase is losing its Ole Kirk mind.

I demand one new Daily Planet D2C as compensation for the current duress undergoing the participants of this thread, and a 1 year moratorium on Batman and Joker only sets. Put Harley Quinn on ice too, for a bit.

Please, kind DC Designer, hear my plea, save us, your collective fandom, who buy thy sets and contribute to thy bonus!

I thought people on this forum were above calling things woke when they dislike them. What a sad world we live in. Anyways to step away from this foolish discussion, can we expect any TDK trilogy sets? I’m planning on picking up the bat bike eventually but was just wondering. I would love a UCS version perhaps of the Bat or something along those lines

Best we can do is another Tumbler of some sort.

I would love to get more TDK sets, but it seems very spread out. Lego seems mostly fixated on the 90s Bat-stuff.

Please, explain Superman (2025) for NOOB . . . . .

Since you asked so nicely.

This nerd called Clark Kent is secretly a chad called Superman (There’s a star Man waiting in the sky….) He moves to the big city known as Metropolis so that he can help more people.

Along the way he will encounter the Justice League International who are funded by this evil businessman called Max Lord. In this team there is a female bird person, a random Guy in green, Metamorpho and a terrific genius.

Oh and Lois Lane, Rick Flag Sr, Ultraman and the Engineer are there to.

Is Super really a chad if his weakness is a green rock ?

Batman’s weakness is his mommy and daddy issues. Martian Manhunter’s weakness is fire. And Flash’s weakness is his ADHD. So a super rare green rock doesn’t  seem too bad.

Besides. It’s not his weaknesses but his kind and strong character that makes Supes a chad. A gigachad.

Turtle’s mad that there’s a squirrel in the movie that allows Superman to show his caring nature.

I’m mad that the squirrel isn’t Green Lantern Bd’g or Ch’p.

We are not the same.

(It would be a funny plot twist though)

That sounds like something Gunn would do :laugh_hard:

The leaked costumes are a bit …questionable, but given that both of them feature

Maxwell Lord‘s emblem
, it‘s reasonable to assume there‘s a story reason for how they look here. Maybe the classic suits also show up in the movie :shrug_oh_well:

People are already jumping the gun(n) though. We can‘t judge a movie while it‘s currently still in production.

Exactly what happened with Superman's suit — after the initial reveal (which, granted, was a really bad way of revealing Superman's new suit) the majority of people disliked the suit.

After the set images started appearing, people did an immediate 180° and the reactions were overwhelmingly positive.

I know it's not the same situation with, for example, Gardner's suit, but it is the same principle — people immediately jumping to random conclusions without knowing the full context.

If the way the suits look is not explained or at the very least hinted at in the movie, then yeah, Gardner's and Hawkgirl's suits are bad (Terrific still looks terrific tho). But right now, I'm fairly sure they look the way they look because of Maxwell Lord, and they will get better suits in the next projects (or even this one).

We when comicbook movies are wacky and comicbooky:

We when comicbook movies are wacky and comicbooky:

Don’t you see, comic book movies need to be DARK, EDGY, SERIOUS, and HYPERREALISTIC. No fun allowed

Superpowers? Nah. All we need is a sad lonely billionaire with parental issues dressed as a flying mammal beating up mentally ill criminals. That‘s the only valid form of entertainment :snicker:

…seriously though, as much as I like Batsy, there are different flavours of CBMs, and that‘s a good thing. I for one am immensely looking forward to a Superman film with actual Superman in it, rather than Sadman :laugh_hard:

I love Batman, but I'm gonna say something controversial (well, maybe not for actual comicbook fans) — he's much more interesting when he's wacky, has family and friends surrounding him, and deals with more supernatural threats (not exclusively obviously).

Even more controversial — I don't like The Dark Knight. For me, it's the essence of the boring, uninspired way to approach this character. I hate the hyperealistic climate of this movie, and the fact that it's much more interested in Joker and Two-Face than the titular character. I find Batman Begins and TDKR much more interesting and fulfilling, even though they both have their shares of problems.

I also have a problem with people putting The Batman in the same box of hyperrealism as TDK Trilogy. Yes, the movie doesn't have any supernatural elements, and it's not trying to be particularly wacky — but man, does this movie have style. It's masterfully shot, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. You can tell that Reeves had a particular vision for this movie, and they let him execute it perfectly.

Even more so — this version of Batman is kinda a loser. He isn't presented as this cool, hyper-competent, unstoppable guy. He says stuff like "I am vengeance", but people like Catwoman and Penguin, who are more self-aware, tease him about it because they know it's a superficial edgy line that's just supposed to sound intimidating.

He's also competent only to an extent. He needs help, and even though he doesn't like asking for it, he's usually working with an ally — whether it's Gordon, Catwoman, or Alfred — because he needs them. Also, the scene in the hospital with Alfred is peak live-action Batman, probably my favourite scene with him.

Anyways, I have no idea why I'm rambling on about The Batman, but I'll post it anyway.

We are assuming - Neither have been confirmed yet, and speculation is that U-Man may turn out to be a bizarre combination of characters. . .

@legoturtle
Also, Superman works (as Clark Kent) for a newspaper/media outlet called the Daily Planet (along with a number of friends and colleagues, to include Jimmy Olsen), and he will need to contend with another evil businessman named Lex Luthor (who is at least in part a defence contractor, considering that crates marked with the Luthorcorp logo have been seen around military vehicles and equipment).
A few other notes: Flagg Sr., U-Man, and Engineer are all working with/for the U.S. military; Maxwell Lord’s company is Lordtech, and they make (probably among other things) consumer electronics; Lex’s company being called “Luthorcorp” rather than “Lexcorp” suggests that it has been a family business for at least a generation, and that Lex has only recently inherited it/is still working to define himself and the company under his leadership.

Mister Terrific’s is comic-accurate, while the other two seem to be recoloured versions of his costume - Team suits designed by Holt and funded by Lord, perhaps?
