Comics are pretty niche, all things considered. Way more people watch movies than ever read a single page of a comic, so this development is hardly surprising  Comic-based (or generic) sets sell because the movies popularise the characters. Without them, few people would care.

Just look at Iron Man, he was a C-lister at best before the MCU started

I get that, but I'm in the theme for comic-based sets and characters, LEGO turned the Marvel theme into MCU, and Spider-Man only (with even X-Men being show-based over the comics). I don't want a revitalized DC theme to be completely movie centric (it's bad enough every set now is basically 1989). LEGO didn't exactly help their situation by ignoring the movies and their characters entirely, either.

People have tried that before, and it doesn’t work because most people can’t just change their writing style. Him coming back with a new account would just be laughably obvious  He’d be easier to spot than Batman in Antarctica.

DC is not Star Wars. While SW insists it has one single uncontradictory Canon (which contradicts itself every time possible and impossible, with the OT being the sole exception), DC in general and Batman on its own are known to be openly and proudly inconsistent. Nothing of what you said about Joker can be applied to every single variation of said character.

Batman himself is not all that impossible (I mean, as a detective with gadgets, or a detective/ninja hybrid with gadgets), but nearly all of his villains are highly unrealistic, or their gimmicks wouldn't work IRL the same as in the comics (Bane, Scarecrow, Ventriloquist). Only the gangsters, and maybe Riddler, Two-Face (with bandages, not split body), and Joker (laughing gas and chemical warfare) would be able to exist in the real world. Or any of the mercenaries not named Firefly.

I really do like the BTAS Batmobile, but $60 is so overpriced, so I was expecting a heavy discount on it. However, it's currently backordered on the LEGO website, so LEGO clearly knows how to price things to sell appropriately better than I do! Same for the X-Jet, which I've still not seen on sale (although there have been reports of it being discounted in a few Wal Mart clearances, but not extensively).

Sigh.

And I'm still really disappointed by the wheel arches, which stick out to me so much, compared to the beautifully curved ones, tight to the wheels, in the show.

Well, he got put in the corner for the unsavoury stuff he said (and likely refused to change or even insulted the mods, resulting in his subsequent ban). All the other nonsense he said that people now make fun of were not bannable offenses, so I don't see an issue with having a bit of fun here  Of course it shouldn't be pushed too far

I am a lifelong fan and enjoy the modern and classic styles. I recently reread Endgame again which has a lot of Bat history and tropes in. However even I was taken back by the scene where the Justice League has been Jokerized and he cracks open the Justice Buster armour. Not the armour, no no, I love the extent of his armory (however the scale of said armory and where it gets housed stretches plausibility. As I've mentioned before I really like the rotisserie in the Batcave in Hush), it was how he took down the unrealistic, laser-eyed bee that took me out of the story for a second. Kryptonite gum stored in the cowl, just in case Supes was too corrupted for the Justice Buster to withstand him. I love it, it's nuts and it's escapism, which amuses me when people demand that their escapism be grounded in reality.
