I didn‘t care for the original, and from what I‘ve heard, I‘d be the prime target audience though!

  Reveal hidden contents

what I‘ve been saying since 2019: This guy isn‘t The Joker, just A Joker

:laugh_hard:

Correct- the target audience of this film seems to be the people who disliked Joker 2019

Actually, maybe moreso those who acted like Joker 2019 was some sort of threat to society.

Absolutely the funniest part of the trilogy, he names everyone in that scene but him, they never even interact. Idk, maybe Bilbo mentioned to him how Legolas was a bit of a megablock who always looked CG back in the day

Man I hate it when someone looks CG

suggest he be replaced with the guy who --------- Barry at superspeed

Given everything else Ezra Miller has done, it is ABSOLUTELY possible "Dark Flash" did this too.

Jonicle Mask of Humor was the best one, but I always had a soft spot for the Ledger Returns. Loved it when he turned Robin into a literal Robin.

Did anyone watch ashnflash's video about the confirmation of Superman Legacy sets? It was more than likely going to happen regardless but it's cool to have official confirmation

I did, it's promising for next year.  hopefully the sets are full of colour!

also another D2C set for next summer for DC

on another note picked up the 66 Batmobile D2C, amazon had 25% off.

gota say, today was a good!

He did! I don't know how they did it but Orlando Bloom looks artificial every time he shows up in those Hobbit films. It's a mix of the weird lighting in those films, the fakeness of the environments and his poor deaging that just gives me uncanny valley vibes

Dark flash is a very serious character, do not make a joke of him

Dark Flash is actually clever social commentary that Ezra Millar is actually a bad guy.

To be honest the Hobbit films themselves look artificial.

What if instead of Dark Flash he was called Dork Flash and instead of whatever he was in the movie he was the exact same thing?

If this is the same thing as what we talked about a page or two ago, it doesn't neccesarily confirm Superman Legacy sets. It could just be that a marketing person at DC was shown the superman mech set.

Genius work, gives me hope for the future of the DCEU. Maybe they'll have Kang come in through the multiverse ot

It also BOGGLES MY MIND to see how much "but they should still play the character" support there was for Ezra and (to a lesser extent) Johnathan Majors. People try to get actors fired for much smaller things, but then turn around and say our favorite Geneva Convention Speedrunner should keep playing Flash. He's not even a good flash, it's not really remotely like Comic Barry. At least CW Flash was a likeable guy, even if the show, upon rewatch, was really never that good.

This comment feels pretty negative overall so I'll add that regardless of whether or not it has specific tie ins or just the mech coming, if superman legacy is a good and popular movie, it really could help revive the theme. Though what we really need is a new Justice League cartoon.

So, what does everyone's ideal DC revival look like?

I'm okay with another Bat-only wave for Year 1, before moving onto Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern Year 2, and JLA stuff in Year 3.

Movies are their own thing, sure, but comic sets are where it's at.

Imagine, a Batman wave with the entire Bat-Family sprinkled throughout, new rogues like Mad Hatter and Ventriloquist, and new locations: GCPD, Iceberg Lounge, Botanical Garden. Then, we get a Superman wave, with his rocket ship, a new Brainiac ship, villains like Parasite, Toyman, and Bizarro, and WW sets featuring Themyscira, Ares, and Circe, Flash sets revolving around The Rogues, and finally new Lantern Corps. Daily Planet D2C to take the Bugle's place, and a bright future for all things LEGO DC.

With your Lego Lantern Ring, what would you envision?

My ideal reveal would be a Batman-wave (5-6 sets) in the winter, a JL themed wave in the spring or summer (5-6 sets), a large modular D2C, and movie based sets as appropriate. So, for example, next year.

Winter wave

The Batcycle: Catwoman pursuit ($20):

Includes Batman, Catwoman, and a Batcycle

The Penguin’s Submarine ($40):

Includes Batman with Scuba unit, Robin, and The Penguin with a Penguin Submarine

The Batwing: Joker’s Escape ($60):

Includes Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn, Batgirl, and The Batwing

The Batmobile: Two Face Pursuit ($80):

Includes Batman, Two Face, 2 goons, The Batmobile, and an armored car for Two Face

The Batcave: Riddler and Bane’s Attack ($120)

Includes Batman, Robin, Bruce Wayne, Alfred, The Riddler, Bane, The Batcave, and a tank for Bane

Spring Wave

3 sets for Superman

Summer Wave

Green Lantern Vs Sinestro ($20)

Includes John Stewart, Sinestro, and a Green Lantern mech

The Flash vs Captain Cold’s Snowplow ($40)

Includes Flash, Captain Cold, Golden Glider, and a snowplow towing a stolen safe

Wonder Woman’s Invisble Jet ($50)

Includes Wonder Woman, Ares, and an Invisble Jet

Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis ($60)

Includes Aquaman, Mera, Black Manta, an Atlantean structure, and Black Manta’s Submarine

Superman: Lex Luthor Mech Attack ($80)

Includes Superman, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, Bizarro, and Lex Luthor in a giant mech

November

Arkham Asylum ($400)

Includes Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, James Gordon, Rene Montoya, Harvey Bullock, Hugo Strange, Dr Bartholomew Wolper, Harleen Quinzel, Aaron Cash, Jonathan Crane, 3 generic guards, Joker, Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy, Riddler, Two Face, Mad Hatter, Man Bat, and Firefly with Arkham Asylum and a Transport unit.

Absolute Cinema!

Though couldn’t Hal or Guy be included as well for $20? Anyway I would accept another John if it’s his War Journal suit. With dual-moulded legs.

do-you-like-the-new-john-stewart-costumeHonestly I think this is my favourite John design.

Yeah, it's a mix of the lack of preproduction time and the abnormally high resolution and framerate they shot it at, makes all the imperfections way more clear and means they couldn't use miniatures, puppets and suits and shooting in 3D meaning no perspective tricks could be used to play with scale. You can tell what parts of the films were shot for the original plan of two movies and which weren't so clearly. One of the funniest juxtapositions in the film is the Barrel scene. It opens with the actors on real sets as they get in the barrels and it looks good, then they go into the water and it's still a set and looks good, then they leave the cave they're in and it looks like ratshit with the bloom cranked to eleven and everything looking artificial as hell, you get a terrible action scene with CG Legolas hopping on Dwarves that all looks that shit then when it ends the next time we cut back to the Dwarves and Bilbo it looks like a real movie again and they get out the barrels in a real river, it's honestly night and day.

It says a lot about how much basic filmmaking craft has slipped in these blockbuster franchise films that I was pleasantly surprised that the characters actually interacted with their environments here

This is LEGO, so no.

So many midrange sets now only ever come with 2 figures so 3 in a 20 quid one is probably pushing it

Honestly I think this is my favourite John design.

I tried to make a reasonable sounding list and went with John because it sounds like he’s gonna be the main GL for the DCU. But, since it’s a wishlist, you can throw whoever you want in there.

Man can you imagine his reaction to the news of an official lego superman set?

And hell yeah, back in black(tron).  (Blacktron is backtron?) (We are so Backtron?). I love that this thread has just turned into unrelated lego news scattered across the aslume.

I just swore a bunch, not suggesting anyone else do this, obviously, but it turns out if you just don't put spaces it doesn't auto censor you.

This was the first place here to talk about it too. Ofc it's terrible the Dummy now has new Blacktron forces to deal with but the sets will probably be pretty cool. Do we know what it'll be? Like is it a gwp, an icons set or (definitely not) a small wave of sets?

Ah, yes…

The shadow always returns. The darkness always blots out the light. You can’t defeat us, you can’t quench us.

We are more than a corrupt galactic corporation. We are an idea; the final idea. We are the final truth. We are the final order.

We are few in visibility, many in invisibility. We are shaken, but not stern. We are beaten, but not bruised. We are destroyed, but not defeated.

We are the shadow. We are the darkness. We are the black.

Long live Blacktron.
