I would, but Blacktron has cookies.

It was moreso an inside joke where I keep complaining to our British inmates about their country’s actions in the War of 1812. It wasn’t supposed to be directed toward you specifically, my apologies.

Apologies accepted. :classic: Do you mean cookies as in data that you eat, or baked goods that are gathered from site use? Just joking

My feedback for dc cmf 2 did not work

Spider-verse is still cool.

Though, if we don’t get Spiderman UK I will be very upset. (He was integral to spider-verse in the comics)

But you know what would be cooler? A DC Elseworlds CMF.

Here’s my pitch since I haven’t done obligatory CMF pitch for a while.

  1. Green Canary (Deceased)
  2. Deadwing (Injustice)
  3. Supergirl (Dark Knights of Steel)
  4. Deathstroke (Dark Knights of Steel)
  5. Yellow Lantern Superman (Injustice)
  6. Batman Beyond
  7. Vampire Wonder Woman (DC vs Vampires)
  8. Lois Lane Red Tornado (Earth-2)
  9. Death Storm (Earth 3)
  10. Alan Scott (Gotham by Gaslight) or (Earth 22)
  11. Green Lantern Alfred/ Green Arrow (DC vs Vampires)
  12. Flash (Earth 22)

Did I go overboard on the Lantern variants? Yes. Are they justified because of their cool designs? Maybe.

Who would ya’ll like to see in a DC Elseworlds CMF.

Perfectly balanced, one might say.

Yeah, I’d say that’s really well Managed

A new Green Lantern Corps run was announced for February, and Kyle looks important!! Yet another thing I willed into existence. My friends, with that, the Lanterns TV show and John Stewart getting a statue, I am happy to say we are now approaching a GL renaissance not seen since the days of Geoff Johns.

All we need is a GL minifig to make it complete.

I think most of them at least broke even, didn't they? And the first few generally made some solid money, even if BvS got bad reviews. The Spider-Verse movies are also animated, and animated films just don't tend to make as much as live action ones. That's not a knock against the medium, it's just the truth.

BvS only ended up making $126M in profit, which sure, it sounds like a lot. But the Flash ended up losing the studio close to $200M. So, sure, DC had some successes: BvS, MoS, Suicide Squad, Aquaman, WW, and Shazam. But the flops outnumber them: Birds of Prey, JL, Shazam 2, Aquaman 2, The Flash, The Suicide Squad, Black Adam, Blue Beetle. Compare that to the Spider-Verse movies which both turned a profit. Sure, they didn’t gross as much at the box office, but their budgets are also much lower.

In a running race between a Cyberman a mini figure I'm putting my money on the Cyberman. The real question is how fast does a Lego Cyberman run?

Hold on, there was a LEGO cyberman in LEGO dimensions, we can actually answer this

So sad that the DCEU's failure directly influences TLG's decisions on DCAU products. I personally would like to see more than just the Gotham city skyline and Batmobile sets.

I'd prefer a BTAS/TNBA based Arkham over an abstractly comic-based one. Mostly because of the minifigures it could include. It was also pretty much consistent, compared to the comics. Possibilities of recreating the 'Trial' BTAS episode scenario and Dr. Leland's office from 'Harley's holiday' or 'Double Talk' would've been nice, IMHO

I have 7 of them but they don't walk at all. In fact they seem to possess no way of moving under their own power like most minifigs. :def_shrug:

The dumpster fire that was the DCEU certain is a large reason for the decline of Lego DC theme.

I do hope they still make more DCAU sets. The batman beyond Batmobile is crying out for an addition to the system Batmobiles with display plaques series. A JL watchtower would be awesome too. And Static is crying out for a spot in the next DC CMF.

My only worry with Btas Arkham is that it wouldn’t be dark and gothic enough. A comic version or the games would be, which is what I’m hoping for

You can blame Walter Hamada for that, everything after Wonder Woman became a MCU-Rip off with more jokes less serious ness, maybe if Zack Snyder stayed the DCEU might have survived, Justice League 2&3 and MOS 2 and The Batman with Affleck would have been hits

There was a big switch up, they went a different direction and the WB Execs are to blame

WB are better villains than Joker,Darkseid and Thanos combined

Might as well just sell DC to Universal, I don't trust DC with anyone else, If Disney got their dirty hands on it, expect Batman making jokes and lecturing the audience about what is wrong and right

I don't want to see any Morbmobiles or Venomised Cybermen rigging this race. Just a regular Cyberman, a Lego Cyberman, and a regular minifigure that represents a merged human and a Lego figure. A Crash Test Dummy, for example. All adjusted for scale of course.

Oh yeah, things would have gone much better if they kept the guy who made the film that killed the DCEU. 🙄

Biggest mistake WB made was hiring Zack Snyder to helm their cinematic universe. Second biggest mistake was not bringing in someone with a creative vision after he left to actually steer the franchise.

BVS is overhated, Snyder had a vision that didn't happen, maybe if we got JL 2 & 3 people would understand

Imagine a movie in the Knightmare Timeline, Imagine a Avengers Endgame type film with Superman,Batman and WonderWoman vs Darkseid

Joker and Deathstroke on the survivor team making a truce with Batman

Riddler solving the Anti-Life equation

I liked dc elseworlds but theres no way i'd take them over canon designs for figs.

If we got the original JL in 2017 it very well could have averted the course the franchise ended up going on. BvS was a big misstep, but the Snyder Cut's a big step up (especially if they'd cut it back down to 2.5-3 hours for a theatrical release). It was never going to beat the Infinity Saga era MCU, but if they'd at least kept with the plan they could have had something better than what we ended up getting, which was nonsense. I'll take Man of Steel, WW, and Snyder Cut over pretty much any DCEU movie released after WW.

Yeah, when we don't get the normal designs for most DC characters anymore, an elseworlds CMF just feels wrong.

I think a competent director and writer might be able to make it work but I can agree that on paper it sounds kinda bad. Problem is Synder is not a good fit for DC, I don't think he'd know a good movie if it hit him in the eye.

Because that's the real war in this topic : it's not Britain V the US ( via the means of obscure characters), it's not Turtle V justice for his crimes, it's not Blacktron V the United Church of Mara Jade and the Demolition Dummy, It's not CornCob V the black lanterns. It's Synder enjoyers V Synder ' Who the hell thought it was good idea to give this guy the Future of DC on the big screen!!!!??!!!???!!??!!'ers

( though I think it's it's funny that we all agree the DCEU was overall carp because if like me you though Synder's path was the wrong parh then they course corrected the car off the road and into a river, where somehow the car was still able to catch fire.)

Anyway I eagerly await James Gunn's new era. It might not be perfect but by Zeus it's gonna be better.

I gotta disagree on the Snyder Cut being a step up. I honestly thought it was worse, but to each their own I guess.

I also gotta say there were some good DC movies post Snyder. Aquaman was fun. Shazam was good. The Suicide Squad was great. The biggest issue, IMO, is just how long they let the franchise go on without any sort of a plan in place.

I actually like Snyder for the most part. Dawn of the Dead was good. 300 was good. I liked Watchmen. Heck, I even liked MoS and BvS (I’m not gonna sit here and pretend like it was a misunderstood masterpiece instead of a critical flop that caused a lot of the general audience to lose interest in the DCEU). But I hated his JL and the more I hear of his future plans, the happier I am he didn’t get to continue his vision.

Agree with the first part that Disney Marvel is too quippy, but no way on earth does it lecture the audience.  Even if it was, a superhero film expressing some morals or ethics is hardly out of order.  Do you find "The Tortoise and the Hare" lectures its audience?

Yes, a vision of Batman being sexually assaulted in prison :hmpf: Snyder seriously needs a good therapist. So glad him and his shitty edgelord „vision“ have been flushed down the toilet.

I agree with you there, wtf was that, was that taken out of context or was he serious ?

Yeah, though my main concern would be one of the worlds largest corporations owning even more of the entertainment industry, they've practically monopolised it, they shouldn't have even more power than they do now.

WB getting sold for parts would be disastrous for the film industry and shouldn't happen

For me there were a few big things that sold it-

1. The sense of scale and mythical feel to the characters. The biggest thing that the DCEU needed to do to be successful was differentiate itself from marvel- while nowadays a DCU like the Infinity Saga could probably stand a chance to fight with a slipping Marvel, you weren't taking it on at the height of it's power. It needed to be something different, and the DCEU's superman- especially his "second chance" scene- had a larger-than-life aspect that marvel wasn't trying to fill the niche of. The whole setup for Darkseid also felt like this, the scene of the heroes staring him down through the portal, the flash goes back in time scene, etc. DC's biggest difference from marvel has always been, in my opinion, that whole "gods among us" tagline from injustice. The marvel heroes are meant to be more strictly relatable

2. Yes, the darker tone- while BvS executes it poorly. Marvel has stuff with a darker tone, but the DCEU had you really feel the impending threat of darkseid. Thanos was set up throughout the MCU, but you didn't really feel that sense of dread until the second or third act of infinity war. Justice League does such a great job setting him up and making you really feel that sense of impending doom while still ending with hope. (Again this is not anything against the infinity saga- I'm not saying this is better, but it is also good, and it is different.

I guess the way I'd put it is that the MCU is tonally more like Star Wars and the DCEU, at least MoS and Justice League 2021, was tonally like Dune. That's not to say one is better than the other, or even that one can do that sort of tone better than the other (I mean, c'mon, Daredevil and Andor), just that they went for different tones and that's what they needed to do with this.

I have no faith that Gunn's tone isn't just going to be "Guardians but rated R half the time"- exemplified by the fact that he's placed such an emphasis on the suicide squad, to the extent of cutting Cavill Superman for a "clean slate" but then turning around and keeping the guys from HIS movies- and I think it's a misstep at a time when DC actually has a shot at taking the crown movie/tv wise.

I did like Shazam.

7 hours ago, Lego Nostalgia said:

Sort of taken out of context- he said more as like "my movies are going to be darker in tone, this is the type of thing that could happen". It's still a weird and bad choice of example, but I doubt he was ever going to do that specifically, and there's no evidence it was ever intended to be in any of his movies.

Shazam! was very different from the rest of the DCEU - it was actually very fun to watch. IMHO, it had a perfect balance of funny and dark moments. In some ways, it's better than the New 52 comic it was loosely based on - while sadly not introducing Black Adam and some other characters, it had more focus on the cast and therefore turned out to be a better story overall. Not that introducing so many characters at the same time is a bad thing either... I didn't love the second part, but I still think it's overhated, just like The Flash
