Batman as a concept is a monster that scares criminals in the night, but he DOES try his best to help his rogues in a number of continuities. He always kept his (psychological) distance, even when he tried to help a villain. And he never was a wimp, easily beaten by thugs while trying to reason Harvey Dent in a kindly Superman fashion (though this applies only to "Two-Face, pt. 2", yet it looked so cringe!). B:TAS Batman may have been fear-inspiring as some degree, but he was, in my opinion, much too nice and much too lawful, while still grimmer and more intimidating than the 1966 version. That's just my opinion, but it's not based on nothing Edited November 28, 2024 by Max_Lego Quote

Idiots in charge, massive casualties on every side, no real ground gained by ANYBODY, portions of France turned into bomb-filled wastelands still unusable to this day, the shooting of those soldiers who refused to go to their certain deaths 'over the top' of the trenches, the overthrow of the Russian Czar by Lenin and his ilk (with Lenin helped by the Germans to return from exile), the inept and toothless League of Nations that resulted from the war, the punishing of Germany to the extreme (leading to the rise of the Nazis later on), the horrible gas attacks, and so on. To quote one French officer present at the peace treaty signing: "This is no peace... it's a twenty-year cease fire." Sorry, but I had to get this off my chest. Quote

WW1 is a case study in the flaws of capitalism, autocratic regimes and having a lack of foresight (well at least the Treaty of Versailles is) Speaking of the aftermath of WW1 I’d like to point out my own hot take. Aftermath of WW1 America: “We won the war lads. You’re going to need to make a League of Nations to prevent this from happening again.” Britain and France: “That sounds like a great idea! You’re going to be joining right? You’re the only superpower left that still has the resources and economy to make this work and provide the league with a strong backbone to prevent any international debacles.” America: “yeah… about that” *America leaves chat* Britain and France with their already shot economies: “oh well, what’s the worst that could happen?” Manchuria Crisis, Munich Pustch, Mussolini, Spanish Flu, Spanish Civil War, rise of Soviet Union, Vilna, Abyssinia Crisis, Remilitarisation of the Rhineland…: “allow us to introduce ourselves.” *America briefly rejoins the chat, introduces Wall Street Crash and subsequent Great Depression in 1929 and leaves again* Hitler now able to capitalise on a economically desperate Germany (with a proportional representation system no less): “it’s free real estate” Britain and France: gulp I love a good historical discussion. Next can we talk about how Charles I absolutely had it coming? Edited November 28, 2024 by CloneCommando99 Quote

WW1 (then called “the War to End All Wars”—the most boastful statement ever if I heard one) only lead to a genuine evil to rise in Germany. It was needless violence started by one of the smallest of incidents that only led to more bloodshed—all capped off by the creation and use of the most efficient (and devastating) method to kill hundreds of thousands. In the end, the war mongers won, and they may be the second-greatest evil of all. 1 hour ago, CloneCommando99 said: America: “We won the war lads. To be fair, though, Europe continues to fall into chaos with or without America’s involvement… Actually, y’all fall in and out of chaos a lot with our involvement anyway. 23 minutes ago, Max_Lego said: Is there really any 'no' to talking politics here?
