Malloy Manor has me a bit nervous for Arkham. LEGO seems to be going an unconventional route with almost every set now. I can live with either a “meh” building, or most of the figs being in jumpsuits, but not both.

Eh, that's a completely different scenario.

The Malfoy Manor is a regular retailer 150€ set. Ham Aslume, on the other hand, is a 400€ D2C that's (presumably) a modular build, like the X-Mansion or the Sanctum Sanctorum.

I just really hope that in terms of minifigures, it's on the level of the Daily Bugle and not the X-Mansion.

The new Tumbler looks like it drove off the LEGO design table from 2008. Yikes. Batman without leg printing hurts, and Two-Face doesn’t look better in high definition. $60 for a downgrade makes an easy pass.

 

Absolutely love the Superman mech. Face print for Soups looks perfect. I’ll grab this on January 2nd, which is when I’ll for sure be nearby a LEGO store.

Man, I was hoping to grab this to get a Ledger fig but it’s so much worse than the one from 2021. Guess I’ll grab the UCS at some point. At least that has display value.

Two Face is hilariously bad. What’s his origin? Did he get a bad haircut and get a really bad sunburn on half his face?

The minifigures in the Tumbler are ridiculously bad. 

Batman just looks awful, that helmet makes him infinitely worse. I didn't like the previous Ledger Joker minifigures, but this one is even worse without the leg printing.

Two-Face is another story. As I've already said before, he looks like a moody teenager.

I really like the Superman mech set (as stupid as a Superman mech is). I am disappointed that Supes doesn’t have the red trunks and boots, especially since he’s got the red belt straps. At least if they were gonna go with plain blue legs, they could have gone with a design where he doesn’t have the red belt straps.

I agree, wish Lego would just stop being kid friendly and give us the accurate burnt face with the gore, it's better than no Lego TDKT Two-Face I guess

I don’t even think they need to make it gorier. They just need to use a color that doesn’t look like he’s sunburnt. They could make it dark green and it’d be better.

I honestly really do prefer the 2021 Tumbler's design.

The Batman fig is terrible. The helmet doesn't work at all (I'll never get why lego's so determined to always give batman white eyes while the films are simultaneously determined to never give him them), Two-Face doesn't do it for me as a representation of the excellent performance and character, same with Ledger's joker. I'll give them two points- the bat signal is nice and I like that they depict Two-face attacking Joker on the box. That's it.

Oh, and THE RUBBER CAPE TAKEOVER IS REAL. You all doubted me. It's becoming more and more frequent. OPEN YOUR EYES, PEOPLE. The slippery slope is real. It's even showing up in Harry Potter sets now. In a few years, I think fabric capes will become a rarity.

I did one a few years ago and my idea behind it was that it protected him from kryptonite. It's still stupid and oversized, but at least there was some concept behind it (And I'd already done a Lex mech).

The worst part is that oftentimes inflation at least makes up for a significant amount of it, but here the price is so much higher that it really doesn't.

Dark green would be too cartoonish, dark grey with some pink or red splotches would be good

The new cowl looks quite ugly with that suit, sorry to the designers but it just does. Really don't want another tumbler and i foresee these figs being in a lego magazine or bricklink so possible pass

 

Edit: for batman i can order just his torso since its the only print 🥴

 

Also wouldnt be surprised if "arkham" ends up actually being a nolan d2c- but i likely wouldn't have bought a 500 usd set anyways...

For real. The 2021 Tumbler looks like a Speed Champions design; I remember being super-impressed when building it, and it’s become one of my favourite sets in my collection.

I’ll put forward that none of the minifig-scale Batmobiles before or since have come close to the 2021 Tumbler and ‘66 designs. ‘89-mobile looks fine, but the back fins are too blocky. TAS-mobile looks simplistic—which is the point, yes, but it feels uninspired. Maybe the DCEU-mobile is comparable, but that feels too small.

I’m resigned to it, at this point, as far as for Man. We have plenty of capes from 18 years of LEGO Batman. (Except the blue-black cape is still exclusive to the Art set, which will probably drive me to insanity at some point.) Man loses his presence with the rubber cape, though, which is a shame.
If Vader shows up with a rubber cape, then we know we lost.

The Superman Mech and 4+ set look a lot better and seem more worth the $$$ than the "upgraded" Minifig scale Tumbler. 

Imagine telling someone this 4 years ago.

I feel like the ATSV set and Superman Mech are going to break LEGO.com on Jan 1st. I can't picture any other sets from any other theme (even Star Wars and the biggest draw from that Winter wave is Ashoka's Interceptor) except those 2 having the most demand come January 2025.

True, but given that the AtSV set is outrageously overpriced, I really want the Superman mech to fly off shelves (like a bee).

I wish I was going to buy both sets come January, but I can’t buy the AtSV set out of pure conscience sake.

I will never surrender. You can pry my fabric capes from my cold, dead hands.

Vader will survive longer than many others due to his unique two-piece helmet. He'll be one of the last to fall.

 

Yeah that's actually pretty cool, I didn't realize they did it too. I prefer mine, but mainly just because I hate the ninjago mech limbs and have actively been removing them from every set involving them I get. I have to admit the brighter blue looks much better.

I think this might the only time I've ever bought a lego set mainly as an investment into future sets. I have two soups already (Cavill and a generic comic soup). While I like DC (obviously) it's not a theme I want to collect all the characters for- I'd be fine with the main leaguers and my Batmen- so I don't care about Lex, and of course nobody cares about the build. But if the Soup Mech sells well, we could finally get Diana, Hal, and Barry on shelves again.

I honestly don't think the ATSV set will. It's just so absurdly overpriced, I can't see it being a solid seller right off the bat. IIRC the X-jet didn't sell out, and that was a similar situation. Although even then it'd been forever since our last Magneto/Cyclops/Rogue, whereas we get Gwens and Miles's all the time.

Yeah, there are so many sets I just can't buy because they're so overpriced. If Ahsoka's starfighter was $30, the Bodega was $30, and the X-jet was... I dunno, $50? I'd buy all three in a heartbeat. But they're so hilariously overpriced I just can't do it. Honestly the X-jet doesn't even seem to be selling well, every store I go to has them fully stocked and I can't imagine they're restocking often. It feels like lego's playing a game of chicken to see if people break and buy it before they have to put it on clearance.

Sure, dark gray and pink would be ideal, and dark green wouldn’t work for TDK design. But it would work for a comic design, so at least the part would be useful for something. As it sits now, it only really works for some poor unfortunate soul who fell asleep with half their face on a toaster.
