ASLUME (formerly Batman (DC Superheroes) 2024 - Rumors & Discussion)

Finished the Skyline set yesterday, and I have to say it‘s one of my favourite DC sets so far! Very enjoyable building experience with some fun and clever techniques, and the easter eggs are well done too  Looks absolutely stunning on display! Great minifigs on top of that, even though the omission of Phantasm still hurts a bit

If it matters (which i doubt it does, considering the subject matter) some trailers for joker 2 have come out recently, though i highly doubt lego would do anything with the topic, especially since they didn’t do anything for the first film either.

R-rated movies don‘t get sets, simple as that. Also, why would anyone want toys based on those movies?

Not that this will happen but in a world where DC sets exist the new Dreamzzz "jacket" mould could be recoloured for Bane minifigure with Tank on the back similar to bigfig from lego batman movie version

I wasn't a big fan of that piece when I saw it last week, but I like this idea. I'll keep an eye out in it for other colors. It seems fairly likely it will come in black at least, maybe in next year's winter wave. edit: It does come in black in the C-Rex! I'll put that piece on my BnP watchlist.

Right now I'm using a fur collar piece and graduate's cloth robe, which is fine, but I'm not a big fan of the robe as a trench coat.

If they thought The Batman (2022) wouldn't be a hit, why would they release a 4 set wave?

Clearly they were secretly planning on the sets selling poorly, hence the lack of a new cowl mold. It's the clones all over again- lego giving us sets based on the subject matter proves they're secretly hating the subject matter!

4 sets?

Well, yes. 1 of them small polybag. There could have been 8-10 sets from The Batman. AND Batman figure? ... LAZY!

To be totally honest, I've kind of tried to stop responding, but this is a kind of absurd take and I feel like I have to say SOMETHING.

1: No, not four sets, "one of them a small polybag". A polybag, three standard system sets, and two large technic models. That's about as many sets as they've EVER done for a superhero movie within the first few years of release, with the possible exclusion of Infinity war/Endgame.... the culmination of a franchise raking in much more cash than DC.

I can't think of a single superhero movie-besides the two above- that got more than 4-5 sets at release, except for the first avengers, which had a lot of polybags pumping the number up. 8-10 sets for The Batman is INSANE. What would they be? We already got multiple batmobiles and batcycles with the sets we did have. What would they make? Penguin's adult club? Random gotham streets and buildings? A ton of water tiles?

Luigi's pizzeria

😂😂😂😂😂 still can’t believe that was a real suggestion

first thing I think of when it comes to the Batman universe - Luigi’s pizzeria.

I don’t even remember it from the movie only the gate with scarecrow

Well, this was my point. We got a lot of small builds in BTAM 2017-18 ... with those you can combine and make for example a power plant. That is amazing to get small parts of Gotham City.

It wasn't in the movie, that's the best part!

I can't believe I forgot that! Ok, here's what the other four sets would obviously have been (all selling wonderfully, by the way. too bad lego was too lazy to produce them)

Pizza Cycle and Alleyway ($23.99): Pizza motorcycle and gotham alleyway with Batman, a pizza delivery driver, and a random thug.

Pizza Van Robbery ($37.99): Pizza Van with Batman, a pizza delivery driver, and another thug.

Sister location ($79.99): small building, one of those pizza places where there's no indoor seating, with Batman, 2x thug, and 3x Luigi's pizzeria employees.

Luigi's Pizzara ($229.99): Luigi's pizza D2C building (also includes Penguin's 100% family-friendly club and Falcone's office) with 8x Luigi's pizza employees and every main cast member of "The Batman (2022)" plus director Matt Reeves.

If you look these sets. There are actually quite a lot small side builds. Together these could be "real building" ... "part of Gotham City". It is not much BUT a start. Also minifigures are different:

- Mayor, security, GCPD officer, swat, and others...

Yes, and Lego ploughed a lot of money into the sets based on the films, far more than they would normally for existing themes - and particularly DC. We got a huge array of everything with TLBM and we're incredibly unlikely to see the likes of it again. The likes of me lapped those sets up. There's only two sets I didn't get from the whole line and it bugs me still.

The partnership with the film company is over, the DVDs are done, and the latest partnership with Universal is highly unlikely to do anything with DC characters when they are owned by Warner. While DC is not as popular as Marvel right now then it is unreasonable to expect pretty much anything that doesn't feature Batman, and certainly not rated R. We certainly aren't going to see cute little side builds with random characters for a good while.

The best thing to do is hope that enough time has passed by the time Superman comes out, and that the licensing agreement is strong enough to yield sets for it. And then you've got to hope that they sell well.

Posted

And 2017 was the year when they "made too many bricks" and had to grind a lot of them up because something something financial corporate stuff. The TLBM sets from 2017-2018 were an amazing Bat-stravaganza, but let's not pretend they were ever something Lego thought about doing every year.

Yeah, I hope so as well.

I just hope for a relatively cheap set with Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl and Superman.

I'm curious,  which 2 sets did you miss out on?

Yeah, that’s exactly why they wouldn’t get lego sets, I stated that before if i’m not wrong in my original statement. I do think it would be fairly cool to see, seeing as the visuals in the newer film looked interesting, but alas it’ll never happen.

Is it foolish to still hope for the 4+ set to also be based on BTAS? Or has it been confirmed to be a generic set and I missed it among all the aslume jokes and insane wishlists? :laugh_hard:

(The notion of a 8-10 set wave solely based on The Batman turned me into the Jonkler for a good 10 seconds)

I don’t think anyone has specified anything one way or another. Aside from someone saying Batgirl was her most recent existing minifigure, but that could also just be a mistake since her BtAS look is very similar.

I really try my best to just ignore these types of posts. I really don’t want to waste my time refuting every last little piece of BS that pops up on here. But this is getting really out of hand.

First of all, there is no way Lego would ever consider making a set based on the death of man’s parents. Zero. It is wildly inappropriate for children to see Man’s parents being killed, which is why it has only been featured in like five PG and PG-13 Batman movies. Now, maybe if it included iconic Batman location Luigi’s pizza, then Lego would consider breaking their rule against producing sets for R-rated content. But seeing as that is not the case, it’s not gonna happen. In fact, I am so confident that this will never happen that if Lego ever makes a crime alley set featuring the death of Man’s parents, I will eat that exclusive Joe Chill minifigure.

Second of all, Lego would never make an exclusive Joe Chill minifigure. And no, it’s not because he’s too dark of a character. It’s because he’s the most generic looking dude in all of fiction. You can use literally any torso, legs, head, and hair or hat combination to create him. Yes, even the official Man figure, so that Man would be killing his own parents. And it would still work as Joe Chill because he’s just that generic. And there’s zero chance Lego would consider wasting an exclusive print on him. If he were ever made, he would use recycled prints and therefore could not be considered exclusive.

Third, and I cannot stress this enough, Jonkler 2 is not appropriate for kids. If you have kids now or find some tagging along with you when you go to watch Jonkler 2, do not let them inside. No matter how hard they fight, just remember that you are bigger and stronger and any amount of violence is justified to protect their innocence.

I feel bad. This guy’s gone full Aslume. Though this is a good point. Jonkler 2 with Hairy Quinn is most definitely not getting sets.

Why did man kill his parents? Is he stupid?

....this thread is giving me a significant migraine. I might have to go to the aslume after reading all this stuff.

Wait. Did I just say 'aslume'? Man, I must be stupid! Oh no... it's spreading like a bad cold! *oh2*

In all seriousness, R rated movies will never get sets. Period, Full stop, end of line.

Is it possible that this cinema is "the crime alley" where Joe Chill shot Bruce Wayne parents Thomas and Martha? I understand it is a different theme BUT that corner reminds me ... well about that...

...
My TOP-3 themes:

1.) The LEGO Batman Movie

2.) DC Super Heroes

3.) Batman

Posted

No, it's not intended that way. It's a Modular Building from Creator Expert.

Yes, it is if you want it to be, it's Lego.

You already knew both those answers.

I’m almost certain this Man went insane long before the Aslume came.
Also at this point Batman and DC Superheroes are essentially the Same Theme.

Batman, DC Super Heroes, The LEGO Batman Movie... those are all OWN themes BUT same universe.

I try to collect most of the sets from all those themes. Also Lego Movie secret police sets. CMF series, at least 4 of them.
