The Secret Six have no idea who Mockingbird is, but every time they gather it's at a pizza party and their first assignment is to take out a (rival) pizza restaurant. The twist is that none of them know about Luigi's Pizza so in frustration he sends them on increasingly dangerous missions. Every now and then one of the Six asks the others if they think they've upset Mockingbird somehow. Luigi is also increasingly frustrated because his customers are always talking about how they are connected to prominent characters in the city, but the prominent characters never come in.

I love this idea and would 100% watch a luigi's pizza sitcom set in the DC universe.

mech that can turn into a bike?

Stop talking. If lego reads this thread you've just turned DC into Batman Ninjago.

Another thing which might be worth noting: the DC branding is more prominent, and there's a picture of Batman underneath it. Could be a good sign of something for at least Superman next year. :classic: My guess is an action figure, a mech, or his cape as a buildable object. :P

Action figure and mech are more or less gimmes at this point lol. Hopefully we get 1-2 sets based off the film.

My thoughts on the sets:

I was wrong, batmobile is blue. It looks alright, but honestly even with my expectations, I'm a little let down. The mostly studless look makes the studded sections feel off, and the set itself just looks kind of basic. ESPECIALLY for $60. This should have been a $40 set. Also, what's up with that title? It reads like someone trying to hit all the buzzwords on a resume. "Batman with The Batmobile vs Harley Quinn and Mr Freeze"? What is that?

The mech armor is mech armor. I like the batarang. If this gets a batman set to sell, so be it, I can accept it.

Bat-Pod is not bad, just an odd meshing of an adult-focused part of the franchise with a kid-focused set style. Almost wonder if a solo "UCS" Batpod would have been better.

The Batman mech is disappointing. They didn’t bother including an armoured variant of Batsy as a figure. Or at least included Joker like the Venom mech had Miles Morales due to it not being an original figure. That right there is proof that Lego puts more effort into Marvel than DC.

This is true, but at the same time they do get a lot more money out of marvel than DC.

The BTAS Batmobile looks generally good, and I'm so pleased they did it in blue.

The guns look terrible and are completely out of scale, but I get it, it's a playset and that's the size of those pieces, but it looks really unbalanced. I may try to figure out the best way to replace the 1x3 inverted tiles with standard tiles to avoid the holes in it.

The wheel arches are disappointing too. They're too square, and I wish they were able to better create the curve to match the wheel.

And the lack of a printed windscreen for the split screen A pillar is a shame. That's an iconic part of it they've missed for seemingly no other reason than cost saving.

And yet it costs $60? It seems so overpriced for what it is.

I do like it, but for the price feel they could have done better.

Agreed.
Now that I've calmed down a bit, I noticed the stud shooters and hate them (then again, who doesn't?).
Admittedly, it's nice to see they're removable, allowing for the more iconic look.
Other than that, it just feels a bit... small somehow. It does capture the general shape well.
Oh, well, it'll be a nice display model :sweet:

Mitch

Was Marvel getting 30 sets a year compared to DCs 5 not proof enough?

So he's got a new cape piece to make up for the lack of sidekicks, nice. I like Freeze's new dome, it looks like it will work with armour. The Batmobile is different, I've only seen it on a small screen so I'll reserve better judgement, however the oversized cannons look like the sort of thing you find on an action figure's vehicle. I'm perplexed at the message being given by the Batpod. A mech suit is a mech suit.

There's an old sitcom from my youth set during the Occupation of France and for some reason there was an Italian officer, who's catchphrase was, "what-a mistake-a to make-a". I feel it's time to re-tread those tyres for when he accidentally causes the death of a Sixer.

Finally some content!! Adore this new Mr Freeze he alone carries the entire wave. I was worried they'd reuse Mysterio's headpiece inaccurately, the choice to produce this new mould is amazing and even has the possibility to be carried into other themes, namely the CMF line. I appreciate being able to get Harley in a cheaper set, but wish she was replaced by someone else, likely Poison Ivy. Or better yet, it would have been nice to get 1-2 more figures in that set. Ideally, it would have been Batman, Tim Drake (or Dick Grayson, love both of their animated designs), Harley, Ivy, and Mr Freeze. Honestly this set just has me in the mood for more animated content. Hope they keep producing sets for this show down the line.

And I hate to say it but the buildable Batman and Batpod are incredible and I want it. Would have been better to get more figure scaled playlets, but can't be too mad at what we're getting. It's better than what we usually get, but the bar is very, very, very low. Lol.

Replace Harley with Two-face since she's in the BTAS Skyline art set and it would have been better.

The fact that they reused a cheap version of Batman used in 4+ sets and magazines for the Mech is making me go beyond insane, so much that not even the Aslume can help me plus if they just released that Batpod without the buildable figure then it might have been worth getting.

RE your last sentence: 'Allo, Allo!' is right up at the top of the greatest of British comedy along with Monty Python's Flying Circus and Blackadder (along with a few others).

Well, glad we at least have a wave this year.

There's still the 4+ set, which might make this the most random wave for a theme of all time — a small mech for a character that doesn't use mechs, a highly requested vehicle based on an animated series, and a buildable figure with a vehicle based on another movie.

The mech looks cool, but I don't really care about it. The bike with the buildable figure is a huge whatever.

The Batmobile set is fantastic tho. The build looks great in most places — I love the colour, the overall look, and the display plate. The stud shooters were really unnecessary, but I'm glad they're easy to remove. The hole in the back of the cockpit is annoying.

The minifigures are awesome too — Batman looks great, surprised they kept the dual-moulded legs. No idea why they're switching to rubber capes tho, not a big fan of those. Harley Quinn is the same, very good looking minifigure. Mr. Freeze needed more details on his limbs. At the very least they should've changed his hips to blue.

Well, the way I see it, one amazing affordable DC set in a single year is more than enough to satisfy me at this point.

Ironically, that would be better than what we are getting right now as that would suggest we would regularly get at least 5 other bat-family members. (Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Redhood and Red Robin) And the suit designs would frequently be updated.

Blackadder and Monty Python are the cream of the platinum cob that is British comedy.

(Blackadder goes forth is by far the best of its four seasons)

Ah yes.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you my take on Luigi’s origin.

His full name is Luigi Risotto. If that name sounds familiar, he’s the Italian Chef from The Simpsons. My theory is that he crossed over into the Lego DC universe during the events of Lego Dimensions. All because he was on the run from Fat Tony’s mob and he’d had enough of Homer’s shenanigans and Bart’s pranks.

There, in Gotham city, he started up a brand new Pizza restaurant, the infamous Luigi’s pizzeria. One day he just happened to be serving a certain Dr Jonathon Crane (Scarecrow) who became so enamoured for the taste of Luigi’s delicious pizza that he befriended Luigi and even became a part time employee of the restaurant.

Over the next few years, with the help of some extra funds from his pal Scarecrow, Luigi’s Pizzeria grew into a successful franchise. There are currently 5 different establishments in Gotham and 1 in Metropolis.

Last year, thanks to the recent Lazarus rain event, Luigi gained the meta-human ability to create mind control pizzas. He immediately began to use that power to expand his pizza empire. Key DC characters that are under his sway include: The mayor of Gotham, Commissioner Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Renee Montoya, Tim Drake (Red Robin), Stephenie Brown (Spoiler), Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Girl), Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz. (Green Lanterns)

With his newfound lust for power and his new disciples he immediately started collecting artefacts that would aid him in his conquest of the pizza industry. So far he has dispatched his Green Lantern’s to retrieve the Phantom Lantern ring from the Armoury of the Guardians of the Universe on Oa, through his Bat-family connections he has obtained samples of Batman’s contingencies so that he can hold any heroes who try to stop him at bay (one of which is a kryptonite pizza topping) and thanks to his control of the leadership he has kept the GCPD from meddling in his schemes.

That’s the lore I’ve come up with so far. Anyone else have any additions to the lore?

Posted

I will buy that blue Batmobile on the first day, and spend the next days/weeks making it shorter and narrower. I will look if there are dark blue wheel arches out there as well. So much potential.

Posted

Not bad. I would’ve probably preferred Mr. Freeze to have the armor from the TLBM version.

But I’ll be getting this with the Gotham skyline.

Posted

That picture makes the cockpit of the LEGO set seem far too large too.

But look at the beautiful curved wheel arches that hug the wheels so nicely. The more I see the LEGO version, the more the blocky it looks around the wheels and really spoils the effect. It's as though someone has built a BTAS kit car over a jeep chassis and kept the fenders!

New suits each wave

Large rooster of villains

Whole Ninja team in each wave - complete batfam

Non ninja heroes do show up - non batfam heroes show up

Ninjago city sets - Gotham city D2C minifig sets

Magazine that has a fig with every issue

Henchmen figs

Parts in BAM boxes

General better pricing for the most part

Variety of styles with new sub themes each year

New parts all the time

More building builds

More variety of builds in general

Larger waves multiple times a year

New characters every year

Hmmm Ninjago batman actually sounds incredible.

Sorry mods for going OT here, but yes I was brought up on a healthy diet of all the above, as well as Dad's Army. Used to watch an episode in the evening and then quote the whole thing back at my friends the next day. Probably should have noticed the signs then

@legoturtle spent the past month hammering down the point of this being the BLUE Batmobile, and he ended up being right on the money.

Perhaps he knows more than what it seems on plain sight?

Perhaps he was hiding his genius intellect behind an insanity character to fool us all.

Maybe he could be right about Luigi's Pizzeria and that it could be the real D2C of October and he tricked the leakers into thinking it was a 66 Batmobile, well done my friend well done, you have decieved us all and we can only blame ourselves for falling into your trap @legoturtle

'And the sign flashed out its warning

In the words that it was forming

Then the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the Aslume walls

In Batman's halls"'

(with apologies to Simon and Garfunkel)

Ok, I'm done with being off topic (probably)
