Does anyone know answers for these:

  • Why is Shadow Box so expensive? Where that price comes from? (car included...)
  • How wide the S.B. is full opened (cm)
  • Is it easy to MOC S.B.? (I would like to make an elevator there, for example)
  • How heavy S.B. is?
  • Do you think it is too grey, no colours? OR is it awesome display / playset?

I ask because I want to buy it tomorrow. AND MOC it for LEGO fair here in Finland. Thank you, if someone has time for this.

It's about 10¢ a piece, which is about standard.

The dimensions are 52.3 x 37.8 x 25.7 cm when closed, so one would assume that it's 104.6cm open.

The weight is 7140g.

I would say that it won't be too easy to fit an elevator in a way that will fit and work with all of the moving functions. I don't know, I've not got it but I have seen someone add colour and a few traditional elements as well as Batfamily members. Only when seeing it like that did I think it was a decent set.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and no one but you can say whether it's too grey or not. It's really rather difficult to assess the playability of a Lego set based on it's colour. Either it's awesome or it needs adapting, and that is up to you to decide.

BUT almost every Shadow Box review tells it is AWESOME! Display Set? No one says anything bad about visuals. Some of the reviewers say it should look like more like in the movie. AND some don't like BOX idea.

Most of reviews really like this idea, this set. It looks incredible open and closed.

...

I do not have that Batman figure? I do not have Batmobile? like that...

Of course they say it's awesome, Lego gave them a massive set to review. I don't take reviews to be the final word on a subject, I use them as a guide. I have absolutely no interest in the Tim Burton Batman films, other than being grateful for the animated series that they inspired. So for me I would rather that it didn't look like that Batcave. I'm also not a fan of the shadow box concept, especially as the designers tried to meld it with play features. Without seeing it modified by someone to include trophies and comic based characters, I had no interest in it as a set. That doesn't mean that the reviews are wrong, or that I'm wrong, we just have differing opinions and mine isn't swayed by having the set given to me for free.

Bro If you think it’s a great display set get it, if you can afford it. Who cares what a YouTuber who gets paid says.

sounds like you want the poly bag and standalone Batmobile from the last bit of your comment that’s what I got plus the batwing and the cat woman.

I don't think REVIEW people say something is GOOD because LEGO send them sets? Those are real opinions.

Example... how people can be wrong. BUT very honest!

It's harder to be negative about the value of a $400 product when you don't spend anything on it.

I have heard that LEGO sends them those sets BUT if they wan't them they have to pay. Maybe 50 % of the price or 80 %.

That is why I asked about the price. You get the polybag and Batmobile also. They are together about 50 euros / 50 dollars at least.

(and that piece count does not mean anything, part 10 cents or something, not even the weight of legos).

It doesn’t matter.

If you think it’s worth £350 then only you can make that decision. You’ve been talking about it for months saying how great it is so you’ll probably be happy with it

The reviewers don't have to pay anything for the sets they receive, but they also don't get paid anything, other than getting the free LEGO set.

While I suspect most can give a fair review of the set that they have in hand, the two things that they possibly don't, or can't, take into account is whether they would pay to have the set if they didn't have a platform to review it for (would you buy it for being purely a fan of the set for only you to enjoy), and do you like it after three months, six months, a year? However long you might keep something on display for, or for how long you (or your children) might play with it.

They very rarely, if ever, consider that with limited funds, space, and time, would you prioritise this over other sets? This might be unfair, but it's a real world consideration.

They very rarely, if ever, follow-up six months later to say whether they've enjoyed it, whether it still feels good, whether it's been played with.

Not critising reviewers for this, as it's hard, if not impossible. But it's why you always have to think and use their opinion as one of many data points.

I try to not buy sets until six months after release, when all the hype has died down and you consider whether you're still excited for it.

With the Batcave shadowbox, it's a nice build and I'm sure a lot of is it fun to do, but for me there are many things ahead of it in the queue for time, space, and money, so I won't get it. And I don't think my children would enjoy playing with it, so it doesn't really appeal in any of the ways that lots of other LEGO sets do.

Back to square one with the insanity, we've been over this, just because you like the set doesn't mean it's good, I'm afraid not even the Aslume can help you now, you'll either have to be put down or transferred somewhere worse than Ham Aslume, farewell my dear fellow Aslume inmate, we had good times laughing and talking to ourselves while staring at a concrete wall for hours

Try another set that doesn't even remotely tempt me. It's not even that it's because it's 4+, because Friends do amazing 4+ sets. Oh well, there always the eternal hope that next year will be good!

Any publicity IS publicity.

When people stop talking about Beyonce's or Taylor Swift's dirty laundry, then they are not famous anymore.

The fact that people are talking about this particular Lego set, regardless of whether it is positive or negative, means that Lego is 'popular.'

In modern times, influencers have made the publicity department's job a whole lot easier.

The 4+ Batcave is bad, as expected. Man and Jonkler are reused from last year’s 4+ Batmobile, but we do get a new Batgirl torso - That I do not think she has ever worn before! 😑
Also, why is Jonkler stealing Kryptonite??

Originally this was going to be a Superman vs Lex Luthor set, but Lego swapped out a couple of characters to improve sales.

Yeah, Batgirl is an original design. She has the classic batlogo to match Batman and Lego's favorite wig to save money. I think she might have the short cape without scallops too? Weird.

And the Kryptonite. Uh, a reference to Superman is better than absolutely no Superman at all ever? Maybe?

I don't hate it too much. The LURPs are better than some of the panels the Juniors sets use and there is a good spread of stuff for little kids. (Unlike that overpriced 4+ Batmobile from last year.) The tile on Joker's car is fun too. That has some reuse potential.

I had a bad feeling the 4 + Batcave wouldn't be related to The Animated Series, and I hate that I was right. Looks like BTAS Joker is staying locked behind the Skyline paywall with Catwoman after all, unless we can make the Batmobile sell so well that Lego makes an entire BTAS wave next year (I can dream).

Batman and Joker being rehashes is nothing new for me anymore but the Batgirl minifigure is a strange one. It looks just like the one we've been getting since 2020 but with the oval logo this time, like some weird hybrid. What ticks me off the most though is that Barbara has been wearing a cowl again in the comics for the past few years, it's WAY past time we get another version of her with a cowl, especially considering it's been a decade since the last comic Batgirl with the cowl was the New 52 minifigure from 2014. But on the bright side, I'll be saving a lot more money since the BTAS Batmobile is clearly the only thing from this summer wave that's actually worth a damn.

Also, is there a lore reason for why Jonkler is stealing Kryptonite, is he stupid?

I own the shadow box, and no, it’s not very easy to make any mocs to the big structure, everything there is very inter connected

also, the batcave set 4+ addition is terrible, batgirl’s torso is useless.

Bruh...

They gave batgirl a new print but they cant use it for a new adventures batgirl? Or a burnside batgirl?

Shes never worn the yellow oval

It is truly bizarre - I even checked to make sure that they did not just reuse the BTAS Batman torso for her!

Why are we questioning the Jonkler's motives? Are we stupid?
