Hopefully one day Lego will make a CMF of all the more mature superhero franchises they haven’t done. They could include: *Title Card*, an updated Deadpool, Injustice characters and maybe even characters like Homelander and Arkham Batman. But they won’t. Which I’m at peace with at this point. And I know that I’m silly for wishing for such things. I’m also at peace with the possibility that Lego DC is dead and may never come back. Lego DC is gone. Lego Batman is all that remains. It'd be a licensing nightmare- I'm not even sure how they'd work that out selling at least 3 different companies products under the same banner (and most likely 4 since there's no way Kirkman doesn't have a say on invincible merch), but since it's not happening anyway due to how mature it'd be, yeah, it'd be fun. I remember one of the pad-printed custom places had Atom Eve and Invincible back in the day. I never even knew the comics existed until the show came out, but I knew Atom Eve from that custom. Now that I think about it, that CMF you fantasize would come with, at a minimum: Invincible, Atom Eve, Omni-Man, Homelander, Billy Butcher, Starlight, Movie Deadpool, Movie Cable, Movie Colossus, Arkham Knight, AK Scarecrow, Kick-A**, Hit Girl, Spawn, and Hellboy. There's no way that's ever happening, but a man can dream. I own the Firestar toys Unbeatable Adolescent. He's the only non-purist lego I own. I've got him and spidey wooshing past my daily bugle set in a recreation of the pose from the cover of their team-up issue. That would be cool, though I'd prefer a title card only CMF. Something like: 1. Invincible, 2. Atom Eve, 3. Omni-Man, 4. Angstron Levy (suit), 5. Allen the Alien, 6. Kregg, 7. Robot, 8. Immortal, 9. Dupli-Kate (With a microfig of shrinking Rae), 10. Cecil, 11. Debbie, 12. Rex, 13. Black Samson, 14. Lucan (with family feud dvd), 15. Donald, 16. Invincible (severe bloodstains and battle damage). Obviously if we did the comic instead of just the show, we'd have to change it up a lot- no spoilers, but we'd need freddy mercury, some other outfits for certain characters, etc- but I've gone off topic enough, even for this thread. So please give me the sauce, There is no source. It's genuinely just speculation on r/TheBatmanFilm. Google Mr. Freeze The Batman Grounded Reddit. It feels like they speculate about it every month, there are also a few ridiculous fan arts, for example one where Freeze uses a taped-over SWAT suit. I remember that at one point someone said What if Mr. Freeze in The Batman Part II doesn't actually use the freeze-ray, and his way of freezing people is just killing them (since they don't move when they're dead). Funniest thing ever.
May 31, 2024May 31 Personally, I‘d rather they not adapt any superpowered villains for The Man II if they try to ground them too much. Grounding characters like the Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, and the Penguin works, but Clayface, Freeze, Bane, Poison Ivy etc should keep their superpowers or gadgetry. There’s nothing wrong with having a „realistic“ take, but the filmmakers shouldn‘t feel ashamed of the inherent pulpiness and sillyness of the characters. We‘re taking about a franchise centering around an orphan billionaire dressing up like a bat to conquer his fears In my opinion, they should thus either fully embrace the powers, or focus on villains that are more grounded to begin with, like Hush and/or the Court of Owls.
May 31, 2024May 31 I fully agree with this. There's a difference between having a distinct aesthetic and being grounded — I think The Batman is more the former than the latter, unlike Nolan's trilogy. I really hope Reeves won't try to keep it toned-down and realistic. While I like the idea of two Batmans — Reeves more grounded, Gunn's more fantastical — I think including things like Freeze's ray and suit isn't any more goofy than the main character running around in a bat-themed costume. I don't want Scarecrow in a business suit, wearing the mask like two times and barely using the toxin. I want a maniac in an actual Scarecrow costume, preferably with a scythe, spraying the gas on Batman. Same goes for other villains — give Mr. Freeze a goofy suit and a freeze ray, or just don't adapt him at all. Clayface is a trickier case, because he actually started out as a grounded character without any powers, but I think we should just use the Rule of Cool — another serial killer, or a huge monster made out of clay? The answer is rather obvious imo.

The answer is rather obvious imo. I would argue the opposite. The Nolan trilogy, in particular TDK and TDKR, is shot in a way that makes it feel more grounded than it actually is (mainly because it's just Chicago and Pittsburgh), but at the end of the day Batman can still fly, connect himself and a prisoner to a moving plane from a skyscraper, and has a tank that rolls down Main Street. The Batman's aesthetic feels less real world and more like a distinct Gotham, but he can't fly (the wing suit thing was so f'ing stupid), has to knock on the front door of a club to get in, and basically just has a Camero for a car. The Batman is weird case because they never explicitly rule out the fantastical elements, but it sure would feel weird if they show up in the next one. I have no problem with a well-designed Mr. Freeze or Clayface, but I'd rather they stick with the themes of corruption and greed and all that. Would love to see an eco-terrorist Poison Ivy and a thought-out Court of Owls storyline, although the Court can be difficult because the recognizable baddie (Talon) isn't the leader.

Bane is right at the upper limit of what can be done in a “grounded” way, but it could work; there is something between Arkham bigfig Bane and FoOoR YoOuU, IMO. Steroids exist, so reworking Venom to be a prototype U.S. government PED that wound up in Latin America during one of the country’s many coup attempts there, then subsequently got mixed with street drugs to increase pain tolerance, is not too far outside the realm of possibility. Well, them, the GL run, some of the redesigns and Forever Evil.

Maybe they could merge Dick and Bruce’s stories, and have Bruce be the one trained/groomed from a young age to become a Talon, with the twist being that Alfred is part of the Court and the one who killed Bruce’s parents? It would be weird and tricky to pull off, but it would also set the Reevesverse Batman apart from other incarnations (primarily the DCU one), and it could work better than just forcing Robin into the story.
May 31, 2024May 31 If they don't include Dick in the next movie, I'm gonna get really worried for the future of Reeves corner of DC. Batman is cool, but he needs relationships to develop as a character. There's a reason most movies with him focus on his villains.

We are getting the Batman-Robin dynamic in TBatB, though, and since we are starting with Damian Wayne, that (presumably) means that the other Batfamily members are already active (including Dick). I suspect that the Reevesverse Batman is going to remain alone, just to differentiate him from the DCU version.
