Yeah, and Lego released  the W14 - so what is your point here?

Point is that at least TLC is trying to replicate main features in this set

Sure, I'll wait. Here's everything you need to replace. *grabs popcorn*

So, I was just watching this RacingBrick video on this car:

In it, he's talking about the way in which the steering wheel is misaligned, and uses this example to show that it can't be fixed naturally:

400x315.png

I guess what I want to point out is that it is correct that the wheel can't ever be properly aligned, but at the same time, there is a way to build it that allows it to be significantly closer to center.

Built like in that picture, the result is an offset of 22.5 degrees, but by misaligning the 12T gear by one tooth, we can make the axle offset by 30 degrees, and then counter-offset it with the 8T gears' -22.5 degrees, for a net offset of 7.5 degrees, like this:

640x480.jpg

640x853.jpg

Does this check out?
(Also, note that if the model was using a 16T pinion gear, it would be possible to offset it exactly 22.5 degrees to perfectly counteract the 8Ts 22.5 degrees. That's not possible here, though)

@2GodBDGlory it is certainly possible and makes it slightly better, but it won't fix the issue in the first place, and the instructions never tell you to do this, so it's not a solution for an average builder. If you saw my previous video, the manual of 42171 actually shows the steering wheel being rotated while the wheels are centered.

Yeah definitely! It could be an easy mod for any Eurobricks users who care about that sort of thing, though

Almost 100% blacked out. I've been saving old black parts for years just for something like this. Only a few grey axles and half bushes are left along with a few grey parts that can't be seen or are not made in black.PXL_20240320_222514621_lweNuDSV5X.thumb.jpeg.91d531e036b1bf75bc9cb2ee1617629a.jpeg

I notice the grey parts that are visible when the model is on 4 wheels more.

Yeah, I got as many as possible swapped. I'm ok with it like it is. Maybe some day in the future I'll take the time to find more black parts and rebuild it.

Looks better  Where did you get the printed tires from?

It's permanent vinyl decals cut with a cricut machine. The Pirelli logo letters are too small to peel and line up 😂 so it's just the P. Same for the 44.

Like you I got rid of some but not all to avoid a complete rebuild. I now have a sizeable collection of Light Grey & DBG Lego pieces that were removed & replaced.

Larger phtos here     WIP photos here

Now to put some disc brake wheel hubs on, which requires using the 42110/42125 wheels to counteract the 1L extra width that the disc brakes add

However this does mean that the wheel hub caps stick out further...oh well.

I also bought some black minifig microphones so I might be able to replace the LBG axle-ball joints with those, if not then I would need to use the belville microphones, which fit into a ball joint just fine

I could also make it look better by using:

  • Black 12 tooth tan gears
  • Black 8 tooth gears (the old, non reinforced version)
  • Black 3L axle with stud( but the DBG ones i used are not visible anyhow
  • Black half bushes instead of black 2L thin beams
  • More 5.5 black axles (I only had 3 or 5)
  • More black 7L axles (I only had 3) but those are bloody expensive

But I would have to do a bricklink parts order and I've already spent a lot on lego so..

Hope yall like it!
