Cardinal Brick Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 While disappointed the factor isn’t made out of Lego and the production isn’t run by mindstorms and a distinct lack of primary colour, it’s truly amazing to watch the thing come together, though I’d like to know a bit more about when automation started etc. Quote
GoldenBrick Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Wow. It's just so amazing to watch. I especially like the brick molding machine. Quote
Dadster Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Very cool. I love to see stuff like this - the inner workings of the corporate giant that is...Lego! Quote
metalandi Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 (edited) This thread is quite funny for me, because actually making molds for die-casting and making tools for punching presses is the occupation i originally learned for 3 and a half years. so, this isn's as much impressive for me to see as for most of you i guess. But i'm already several years away now from this job so that makes it pretty "strange" to see such stuff again, generally at a lego message board Edited August 3, 2008 by metalandi Quote
KimT Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 The video shots give a real good image of how the bricks are made and packed. I've had the luck of getting a factory tour before the "Inside Tour" program. (Yes I got it for free). And it's an awesome ride through the inner sanctums of TLG. There's nothing like standing inside the warehouse and seeing those robots stove away boxes randomly. - There's no system. - It's based on chaos, only the computer knows where every box is put. The guy showing us around said that the computer broke down once and it took several days and proffesional climbers to remake the list of all the boxes. Truly amazing - thanks for sharing this. Quote
