That isn't how it works though. They don't continually produce the CMFs as needed.

You can buy blind by going into a store and picking up random packs. You don't have to scan them to identify them before purchase. The new packaging hasn't really changed anything. S1-2 had bar codes, the next few years had dot codes and feeling, then just feeling and now QR codes. They have nearly always been blind but identifiable.

Sure they would. There are nearly always one or two army builders per series. That is way more than 1%.

I was just talking hypothetical. Should they ever consider such option they would adjust the system accordingly.

Yep, you dont need to buy blind these days.

That one % was symbolic, I didnt do any real math here.

Yes, from an aesthetic point of view I may agree.

Pls consider I'm also a D&D nerd, by that point of view the color for the cult of Bahamut are blue and gold (as on the shield). 😉

I understand that but it does look off when you put one on the paladin.  Maybe the lighter blue will look better I will try that later and see what it looks like, because that's the color on the shield.

If there are lighter blue, I have to agree with you.

Sadly my collection come mainly from the times of plastic cloaks and this one got my attention, but with a wider availability you're certainly correct.

The D&D CMF finally landed in Australia. I found a half full box, grabbed 6 at random and ended up with 2 of the dragon head guy, 2 of the witch, one of the one with the eyeball staff and one of the one with the baby red dragon.

Pretty happy with that (the mace element from the dragon head one is cool, as is their armor and shield)

Still intend to grab more (I want that axe)

Nice find.  The axe piece is great.  I don't like the orange on the brown head it looks off to me but the figure is really nice.  The eyeball staff is a Githyanki and the one with the dragon is a Tiefling.

Scored another batch today with 3 of the axe guys, another eyeball staff guy, 2 more witches, the forest guy, the one with wings and the one with the trans-red skull. Decently happy with that (except for all those witches I now have) although I still want the one with the guitar thing and the one with that brain with legs.

Tasha the Witch torso and legs are good for assassins.  I've made a few and they look really good.

Just out of curiosity: Don‘t you scan the boxes? Do you buy them „blind“?

Yeah my phone camera can't focus on things that close unfortunately.

Bought 3 more today on a whim and ended up with another witch, another red dragon guy and another wing guy. Going to stop buying I think and just snag the other stuff I want on Bricklink or something rather than taking the risk of getting more I don't want.

There are none in stock in any of the Targets near me, sadly. No idea if they will eventually turn up or not. If get more of they're on heavy discount, but if not, was able to find what t wanted at LEGO stores and a Walmart.

My Targets have them, but they seem to be behind service counters.  Would it be bad to buy some, scan at home, and then return what I don't need?  They'd be able to resale them as you don't have to reopen, and I'd probably keep most (but a couple of Dragonborns would be so nice!).  If people are opening boxes or stealing, I don't mind having to ask for them.

It seems to apply to all blind boxes at my Targets, not just Lego, so it's not just our fellow fans that are causing problems.

I find it's also a much cheaper option in the end. I bought a box for a bit over a 100 euro's, and now have 3 of each minifigure. I don't care about only a few of them (lady of pain...) and I can just sell those for a reasonable price. good value for money for a lot of great figures.

If you haven't opened them, most retail places accept returns (with a receipt) without problem. I think they can't really say no in this situation, you haven't soiled their goods or anything. But then good luck walking straight back over to buy more.

If it was me, I wouldn't even take them home first, I'd just scan them in the car and immediately go back inside to return what I didn't want. Do round 2 another day.

On a related note, I was in Sainsbury’s (UK) yesterday and they had several box fulls of Series 25 in clearance, so snagged a few goatherders/basils for £1.40 each. Makes me laugh to remember how many stores I went to in the months following their release trying to find these 2! Wonder how long it’ll take for copies of the D&D paladin to be easier to find!

Finally built it.  It's a very great location build.  Apart from the Dragon being hard to place on the set and it's a nightmare to move this set around unless to have all section separated, I'm absolutely loving it.

A month ago, I came across an almost full box at WH Smith. One of the staff had put them behind the counter in such a way that you couldn’t see them. I was only able to get them from WHS because I asked. I snagged a couple of dragonborn paladins and a Tasha. They were full price but that’s OK.

I had to move mine and will have to again. It’s easy enough if you split it into the modules. I hadn’t even considered moving it all assembled. If I had to for some reason, I’d use a flat, rigid board to support the whole base. Still not ideal though; separate is definitely better if you can.
