Annoyingly, I updated the Bricksearch app in a shop today and it now only lets you scan 12 times a day. Luckily I found another and finally snagged a couple of paladins.

Considering that I have a hard time getting it to even work on a lot of the boxes having a daily limit means I'll be using a different app in the future.  I've been having much better luck with minifig scan anyway.

I think Minifig Scan still works properly (and I have had better luck getting it to actually scan than Bricksearch!).

For the first series that had the scanable codes the only one I could get to work was Bricksearch but it was soooo sloow.  All the others I tried back then wouldn't work on my phone. The D&D series I mostly used Minifig Scan.  Still find some codes that just don't want to scan at all with either app.

I've only ever used Minifig Scan and found it generally reliable. I think maybe one code that wouldn't scan. Perhaps four or five that have been slow to scan.

I did a pick up at Kohl's yesterday that gave me $15 in Kohl's cash and used it to get three more figures. Best Buy had some for 25% off so I got a few more there. At this point it's just for the parts and mixing up different configurations, but I was pleased to have the app that meant I didn't get five Ladies of Pain, which I would have otherwise picked up! I got one and then a mix of others. I think I'll miss this series when they're gone, but I need to tell myself that I have enough.

Yes, they are getting greedy and are using a subscription model. Delete the app and use an alternative.

That's what I did - found one called ScanFig that seems to work fine.

I’ve been using QR Pro in stores and just checking the codes against a screen grab from Jay’s Brick Blog. At home, where there’s good wi-fi, I’ve started using omgbricks. It works pretty well except that the image of the minifigure only appears for a fraction of a second. Blink and you’ll miss it.

I just hit jackpot at my local supermarket in my city.  2 fresh boxes of D&D figs just sitting on the shelf.  I snagged 6 paladins!

My city and area is mostly elderly, so not much competition for CMFs.

Nice, so no Kids can have luck to get one!

Still dont get it why people cant be satisfied with, lets say, 3 or 4 Paladins or other Minifigs.

Cant wait to not get the wolfspack in the next round of CMF!

Are kids buying these? The only people I've seen in shops interested in them are adults and older teens.

If someone only buys 3 or 4 that isn't really different to buying 6.

I guess you’ll hate to hear I have 69 of them.  I’ve done the legwork while traveling  to find them and have no regrets.  Some of us are actual collectors (not scalpers) to build an army that we’ve invested in for a long period of time.

Should we wait until they’re $30+ each to give everyone else a chance first? I’ve actually found them easy to find if you just do a little research and get out for the hunt. If you want just a couple, they’re available online for a decent price without having to use gas and time to find as others of us have done.

It is a beautifully printed dracofig, I'm not surprised. :dsweet:

Army builders are like that, I know someone in my country who must have snatched hundreds of Roman legionaires back when it came out. But he did use them to good effect

I did that. I had just over 100 Romans that I was planning to use for a huge MOC. I paid up and bought most on ebay for 1.5-2 times the RRP.  But then I realised I only really ever used about 20 at most in my MOCs and would never make a giant MOC after all as I prefer to see detail rather than epic size. Luckily for me, by that time, they were selling for 4x what I paid for them.

But "Collectors" who buy them all away in an instant are one main reason why the scalpers can sell those Minifigs at a high price.

Not everyone uses an app. And while they maybe dont want exactly that paladin, when there are only 11 different minifigs in a box left you have a higher chance to get a minifig you already have.

I may sound harsh and dont want anyone to take it personally, we already had those discussion more than once: while TLG produces those CMF, there will be more and less desirable Figs to collect. And that bugs me...

They aren't bought in an instant. Everyone has the same chance to get to a new box and buy the boxes they want.

There are many players involved in setting secondary market prices. Some blame collectors that want to army build particular figures, some blame collectors that want a full series just to be complete, some blame resellers and call them names like scalpers, some blame the collectors willing to pay more than RRP, some blame LEGO for producing them or for the way they are packaged, some blame retailers for not restricting sales or for allowing scanning.

It's all on Lego making CMF foster artificial demand.

If these minis existed in box sets, we would PAB them as we please just like we already do for LKC parts, Pirates and Town Square wolfpack.  No competition or artificial price gouging.

Lego has chosen to lock molds and prints behind CMF.  That is not the fault of collectors who have no other choice to obtain what we want. If I could PAB paladin armor, I would, but I can't.

I don't want to have to scan any more than I want to stand there feeling up bags for an orc.  They aren't making Castle sets with these minis.   They're forcing all Castle collectors to go this route.

If kids want a full collection they gotta do the same as any collector, buy 6-packs, full boxes or find one in the aftermarket.  Let's not pretend we all have equal chance of finding all 12 purely from blind  box picks.  Kids learn quick about the nature of 'blind boxes'. This is all on the system Lego has chosen to distribute their supply.  They control the demand by limiting supply in this very way.

For the record, i bought a full set in the aftermarket to get my first Paladin.  I also bricklinked an arakocra for $7 before that.  I also saw them out early at Walmart before street date and had 5 in my hand, scanned all of em and knew rangers and paladins were missing.  I didn:t buy at the time because i was with my kid and it was getting late ( long lines), i didn't know they were out early cuz i went the next day and they were all gone.  Finding a fresh box recently was just happenstance, and I have no regrets getting to em first.  This is the way the game is played.

While I basically agree with this for most CMF's if you were able to buy the individual parts on PAB it would cost way more than any one CMF does.  This is why I've been getting full sets or even full boxes through my LUG's connection.  Even factoring in the figures I don't really want I'm still ahead over buying individual figures at retail.  For the D&D ones I knew there were some I actually wanted more of than the full box I bought. Paid regular retail for about 8 more Paladins.  One of the Targets near me decided for some strange reason to start selling the series for 1/2 off so I grabbed a bunch more of multiple other figures and an additional 7 or 8 more Paladins.  I would have been good with 4 each of the ones that had two heads so I could have one of each version but at $2.49 each I grabbed a lot more than I had planned on for the parts.

I've been contemplating joining lugs, but I don't think I'm committed enough to do large bulk purchases.  I often get my parts from bulk thrift store purchases, facebook marketplace deals and any major discounts I can find.  My income is too unstable to commit to a long term plan.  Even now Medieval Town Square is outside my reach even though I've spent a couple hundred on vaeious side purchases in preparation of expanding the village ( over the course of months)

My castle arrived last week, and yesterday I finally found a box (mostly empty of course) of the minifigs in stock somewhere. 11 packets still in it, so I got 1 each of 9. No dragon man, half dragon man or eagle man. Gonna have to go to Bricklink after all... not liking the prices...

What half-dragon man are speaking of?

half dragon man

Are you referring to the Tiefling? If so, Tieflings are not half dragon - They are part demon!
