In the render for the cmf, only one seems to have midlegs (the one with antlers). I wonder why that is vs. Rivendell for ex. Both dwarves have mid-legs (i.e., the cleric in the set and the barbarian in the CMF), whereas the halfling druid in the CMF and the gnome fighter in the set both have short legs. It’s all consistent Quote
Agent Kallus Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 Different franchise but it's also consistent with Rivendell where Gimli and the other dwarf (obviously Gloin even if they don't acknowledge it) have mid legs and the 5 hobbits have short legs. Quote
Arjo Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 So the release of the set has me dipping my toes into the d&d universe and I’ve come across recently released (for free) starter campaign pdfs. Granted the one with TLG collaboration is also free to download but I don’t think WoTC have charged them anything for it. Surely the number of vip points they want for it far exceeds the printing cost incurred which is not a classy move. That being said, seeing the BL prices for it and that of the mimic gwp, clearly some are undeterred! It actually led me to use my vip points and buy the set with the hope I will eventually sell the mimic to make it a much better value proposition. Shame as I like it but I don’t value it as much as others it seems. Quote

They also charge more than the manufacturing costs for sets, whether that is real money or the monetary value of VIP points. Quote

And honestly I don´t really see the issue here, since they give you an option to download it for free. Quote

Captain Pirate Man Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 If you are interested in WHAT an actual LEGO D&D game might look like, I happen to be running my own HOMEBREW campaign as we speak. For the sake of the videos, I cut out most of the "behind the scenes" D&D talk. I think this series can help LEGO fans kinda see what D&D is all about. Thanks for watching. Quote

Perhaps this is the part we will see in D&D CMF. It's hard to imagine LEGO releasing two new little dragon molds in one year. Quote

And a second dragon mold will show up in Ninjago as a golden statue. Edited April 30, 2024 by Lion King Quote

Arjo Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Never before but now working on it as I go through content to try and be a DM for my kids. Quote

Arjo Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Just reaching double digits. I looked at board games equivalent but it didn’t seem to call as much on the imagination of the players. Happy to read your suggestions though! Pm me thx Quote
Arjo Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Btw, been watching a cartoon called “the legend of vox machina” which is a cross of d&d universe and south park level of inappropriate content. Looking forward to the cmf to try and put together minifigs of their party (Scanlon in particular! If you know you know:) ) Quote

Critical Role has been doing videos online for years now you can find their campaigns on Youtube. They are on campaign 3 currently. Quote

I used to play back in the 90's. I've read several of the novels from the universe mainly from Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance. Quote
Captain Pirate Man Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 I am CURRENTLY running my own homebrew LEGO D&D crossover. I have already posted links in this thread. Anyways, I AM looking for one more player at this time. We play every other Wed at 5pm est 10pm in the UK. I record the session, and then film actual scenes with my Lego display, and make a video on it. You get to see the "best" of the actual play session, without all the dice rolling, etc. We currently have 4 players (including myself), but only two of them are "REAL" players. What I mean by that is, my wife and one other player are playing D&D properly. My 8 year old son plays with us as well, but I simplified things for his character. I am also playing as a character and the DM. My character is only being used as a "support" type of player, leaving the actual decision making to the real players. I don't normally like to DM and play a character, but my wife REALLY wanted me to be a character as well, lol. Quote

Pm me thx I'm just going to post in case anyone else has similar questions. Also, I don't know how to PM on Eurobricks. At 10+, D&D can work, with an adult DM. I actually started at 8, but that was back when Basic D&D was a thing, and even so, that's really pretty young. D&D can be a little rules heavy, for beginners, though. None of my kids particularly 'got' it until they were older. But if your kids are into the idea of it, I'd say go for it. Or, just to test the waters, the module that comes with the LEGO D&D set has a very basic storytelling ruleset you can play rather than the full D&D. If they like that, then dive into the 'real' stuff. As other alternatives, Amazing Tales is fantastic as a first game, but may be too simple for 10 year olds. I've played it with kids as young as 4. The rules can fit on a single page. Most of the book is advice for how to make good stories with children, which is actually pretty great in itself, though. You can play it in whatever time place or setting you want, too. We did a lot of My Little Pony adventures, for example, with my youngest. And Fairies. And alien crime fighters. and... you get the idea. No Thank you, Evil is another one we had good luck with. It's recommended for 5-14 (I think) and the rules scale with the age. The rules are built more around story than combat and are really fun. In both cases, the setting is much more up to your own imagination, rather than 50 years of lore. It has a setting (which you're not beholden to), which is kind of the land of Young Adult Fiction, so if your kids are avid readers, that might be a good choice. Quote
