Pretend to be a record

Apart from diff-lock (it is good we finally have it!) which is operated by flipping the model upside down to get it locked/unlocked, those tires itself are buying me. First we've got good ones from audi and now mercedes - yes! I hope we will also get 2x new 2Ls driving rings as we have in Yamaha motorcycle. We still need gearbox photo, so my doubts about 2L driving rings will be cleared. I am also curious about that LBG part next to red gear in differential part, have we seen it already?

yes, but I've never heard of professioanl line with G500 badge

The ladder and the roof platform are part of the professional line and are available for all G

So it’s got a locking rear diff, but the only way to engage it is by flicking the lever underneath?  That’s kinda pointless.  Not a fan of all the beam stacking or bodywork in general.

It’s a pass for me.

The looks are okish, the tires great, and for the functions... They at least make room for improvements and modifications :)

I think it is a great little sett as a base for modifications, a little like the Unimog. Room enough to make some cleaver solutions to control the diffs, to modify the suspension setup, and maybe to make some manual gearboxes.

I can see myself moding it as a old G240 or G300 from the 80s with 4 speed manual and reduction gearbox as well as front and rear diffs. That would also include a full rebuild of the front for a solid axle setup and an i4 or i5 engine.

This might be the first buy of the year for me :)

Edit: A string or flexwire setup could make a realistic diff lock solution as that is what is on real models from the 80s. And could also be very compact...

such a poor design for such a big scale

:(

I feel like the Lego designers went on Rebrickable and took some ideas off of the MOCs there. The MOCs of the G wagon looks a lot better than this.

I hope it's not black... it should be anything but black. E.g. this year's reddish orange

Well, well, well

It’s a 1/2 stud pulley wheel.  The rear diff is offset by 1/2 stud.  The other side uses a 1x5 thin lift arm.
