Yes, I know that that's the super bad part, I had experience with that, and then went back to an old version! For me it did not work even for 3 test parts, 2 liftarms and a pin, I was trying to rotate one liftarm on the other but could not get it work. Somebody reported the issue months ago, and don't know if anything has been fixed, on the forum I can't even find the issue now..

Hello everyone, I don't post frequently here, but I wanted to share something i noticed with the G500 and see if anybody else has the same.

At step 249 you add the drive axle of the right rear. A 2L beam is used to connect to the wheelbearing which is added at step 253. I noticed that the connection between the wheelbearing and the 2L axle is minimal.

When further building the set (after adding the wheels) I noticed that you could hear a click sound coming from the (right) rear axle, especially when driving backwards. I switched the left and right wheelbearings, did some rebuilding the rear axle and diff to see if I made any mistakes, but it still happened.

Then I changed the 2L drive axle by a 3L, and now the clicking has gone away.

Is there anybody here that has noticed the same?

Is it just me or this model is slightly shorter than the real G 500? Unless there are several length options to choose from.

The proportions are completly off, and the the tire size would better fit on a G63 6x6. Even for a 4x4² they are to large

I just looked at the gearbox and I noticed something strange. If I understood it correctly, the engine will go to the hi-lo switch first, then both of its output will go the DNR switch. Is the gearbox in the real car this way? I thought the engine would go to the DNR first, then only the output of drive would go to the hi-lo switch. At least that's how it is in the Land Rover.

There are no options indeed - adding hook or/and spare wheel does not affect the wheelbase or own car's lenght, the several cm's difference is because of the front bumber only.

Offtop, but without new pieces where is the sense to buy new set if it could be assembled ffrom existing parts? My assumption is that new pieces is one of the triggers for buyers

Because the person may not already have the parts even if they exist, and buying a whole set is usually cheaper than sourcing the individual parts from other places like BrickLink? Or maybe the set is a good source of parts the user needs for a MOC, and again sourcing them individually is more expensive?

My assumption is that majority of buyers have no clue what kind of pieces exist, and what pieces are new (just read some posts in FB groups). We are a small minority here who follow the part inventory.

 I'm a fan of lego but only have small knowledge of the vast inventory of technic pieces in existence.  I simply buy a model because:

1. It will be fun to build and potentially modify

2. Looks cool and I can display it easily 

3. Has interesting functions

Excluding speculators, surely 99% of buyers are like this.

I personally enjoyed building it, and my modification is currently sitting on the shelf, waiting for parts. I think it looks really good. As for the functions, for a licensed SUV, it's as good as expected from such a set, but the aforementioned modification has a 3+N gearbox and adjustable ride height, so there is a lot of potential.

The only mod i did to mine was make it right-hand drive like all my other lego models… trouble is i do it the silly way (mirroring almost all instruction steps)
