I wouldn't expect a RWD/4WD selector, though, because doesn't the real car have a locking central differential? That implies a central differential, which implies full-time 4WD.

Well, firstly, its only AWD if there's at least 1 center differential, otherwise its 4WD.

Second, you can still have a cemtral diff but have a 2wd/AWD selector.

Third, I don't know if this set has a center differential (I hope so).

A locking center diff would make it 4wd if locked, if the rear and center diff is locked then it will still be 4WD but with no slip on the rear diff since the center differential would be driven by the engine and gearbox.

Well, technically yes, but I feel like the typical marketing you see is: All wheels driven, central diff, no lock = AWD; All wheels driven, central diff, lock = full-time 4WD; All wheels driven, no diff lock = part-time 4WD. It doesn't really matter what you call it, though

You can, but I'm quite confident the real life G doesn't have it. I've got a vague idea that the Ford Raptor might in real life, but I think it's quite an obscure feature, with little utility unless you like burnouts or want to disconnect front hubs for better fuel economy

Yeah, we don't know yet, but even if it doesn't, I doubt Lego would go with a RWD/4WD selector if the real car didn't

Yep!

REALISTIC OFF-ROAD TIRES AT A LARGER SCALE!!!!!!

They are far from realistic - almost twice wider than in the real model

And doors, did we expect simple round hedlights, doors and wheels as stickers?

So no triple diff lock..

At this point we could leave the chat

And I care why Eurobricks is the last place on Earth where we will see the images?

Exactly, if the real vehicle is a brick, then the set should be a brick, too.

I for one feel quite pleased with this set! It avoided the pitfall of becoming some kind of luxed-up street cruiser, it's got a nice eye-catching color (Though annoying for combining with other sets, but at least it's good here), it's got great tires (Though I'd prefer something with more sidewall and less rim, but realistically this is still better than expectations), and I'd say it looks good. Sure it's not complicated bodywork, so there's a lot of simplistic stuff that has been done similarly by MOCers, but at the end of the day, the real vehicle has very simple styling, so it just doesn't require or need fancy techniques to get it to look good. It is pretty lame that the rear diff lock is controlled directly, but unlike the Defender, it at least has a rear diff lock, plus a more interesting solid rear axle. It's too early to judge it on drivetrain complexity, but given that there's two (or three?) controls in the cabin, it can't be too bad. Ideally there'd be a 2-speed transfer case and at least a 4-speed transmission, but who knows. I wouldn't expect a RWD/4WD selector, though, because doesn't the real car have a locking central differential? That implies a central differential, which implies full-time 4WD.

Anyways, I would say this set appears to exceed my expectations!

Not authentic to the Real model but to off-road vehicles generally.

But the reae bottom ones are stickers on panels :(

No they're not.

Yes, they are. Aleh talked about the red "bar" ones slapped on the black panels positioned above the mudguard ones. But then again, complaining about them is nit picking. We can see many brick-built interior and exterior solutions in this model and that's a relief. It puts 42126 aka the Ford Raptor to shame.

Sorry I didn't see them. I thought aleh was talking about the upper ones, which are brick built.

And that's (the ones you perceived) a great one. They could easily have been lazy and slapped stickers there too!

my mate @GooberReboot guessed that there will be new angle connecter between #2 and #3 (2,5?)

I doubt, as causal builders are already mixing up #3, #4 and #5 ones. Having even more ones and and in the same color would be too confusing.

I've always wanted to build a medium sized garbage truck, and the tanks of garbage trucks in my country only come in 3 colors: green, blue, and orange. Since I wanna build the rear loader version I need the 5x11 tapered panel. Unfortunately that panel is not available in any of those colors, until today. Thanks to the new panels in this set I can finally build something like this.

Huh, interesting thought! I wouldn't bet on it at this point, since it seems like we're always seeing new parts/recolors in these pictures that just turn out to be a trick of the lighting, etc., but if you're correct, that'd be a very useful part! There've been plenty of times where I've been building roofs for 4x4s and had to use one that was more angled than I wanted to avoid a totally vertical roof, so it'd be a welcome addition!

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I dont think there's any place for a flagship car/truck model that doesn't introduce a new color to technic.

Theyre great opportunities to make a large range of elements in new colors and they make the overall mode that much more novel/exciting. My only gripe is that LEGO usually doesnt proceed to release more elements in that same color (Im looking at you olive green).

Also, for what its worth, LEGO's functions have to make compromises to fit certain parameters (robustness, playability, piece count, price, etc). I usually dont base my decision of whether to purchase on mechanisms; I go to the MOC community for those.

Full reveal of the set is this thursday (July 11th) according to Brick Clicker, should give us answers to a lot of our questions.

Guys, based on the batch of pictures that was found yesterday I have noticed there is a gap (circled in green) between two of those three parts (beams/lift-arms maybe). I checked the other pictures and there was no gap. Assuming it is the same build used during the photo session- is it possible that the gap was created when the set was forced in its right side to flex its suspension system as pictured?

The set is definetly beautiful, clearly recognizeable, great color choice, good parts pack. Nothing more to ask from a set. If you want crazy mechanisms, go for MOCs, it's simple :)

I will certainly buy one and enjoy it. Can wait to see it motorized with Buwizz motors, doing crazy stuff.

100% you will see it in most Mercedes dealerships from around the world.

They look ~4.5 studs wide, 10.5 tall (usual 81.6 x 36 probably?  maybe closer to 90x36?), real one's widest is 275/50r20 = 275 (or more) wide, 780 tall, scaled to 81.6 that would be 29mm wide, so it's only about 125% wide, not 200%

Posted (edited)

I think the set is aroud 49/50 studs long (without the spare wheel and its holder which adds another 5+1L, so its around 2cm loner than 42110 but I could be wildly off.
