I haven’t brought Viking Villagge set but i am at ally thinking about getting it because of printed parts. I don’t feel appealed to MTS becuase of stickers. Stickers for shields are a big minus. Viking Village is really good value for your money. Nice prints too. I bought it for 125€ at the local toy shop. Medieval town square.... Yes I have the same complaints. Too many stickers. I was not planning to buy it but I did anyway... But Viking Village is the better set. Quote

I’m also looking forward to the Mountain Fortress! All parts for Castle in the Forest (except stickers) are available on PAB/Bricklink, so it can be parted out for relatively little. Highly recommended build, it's one of the best castles of all time. Quote

It’s a good build, I’d make some mods if I ever get around to it. Quote
PaleozoicBricks Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 I don't know how much its been talked about in this thread. After getting my hands on the lion knights castle and Lego releasing the medieval town square earlier in the year. We really need a jousting set. Quote

Lego could introduce the Lion Knight King to go along with the Queen and it would compliment the other two sets nicely. While I would want it to be a large 3000+ piece set like the other two, I think if would be good to have a mid size set of 1,000-2,000 pieces that is more accessible. A jousting set would be a great way to introduce younger and new LEGO fans to Castle. It would be a bit more focused on playability and minifigures. (not to say that the other sets don't have great playability but something more free-form) I imagine a small stands for the audience and king; some sort of jousting fence; some tents, vendors and equipment; and the different knights, horses, and barding. Hopefully priced <$200.00 Quote
MAB Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 That sounds a lot like Joust 10223. You can easily put something similar together quite reasonably these days, if you do Lions vs Black Falcons. The barding and figures are reasonably cheap, the tents are easy to build and the fence is very easy. A couple of generic market stalls and you are done. Quote

Yperio_Bricks Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 10223 looks nice and has everything you would expect from such a set but please no expensive ~200€ remake. Kids won't get into the theme if all sets are that expensive. Quote

As this was the last of the Kingdoms sets, it stuck around for a long time and was quite heavily discounted towards the end of its two year shelf-life. I picked up 6 sets at I think either £60 or £65 each. Absolute bargain compared to prices for similar sized sets now and the bricklink price for this set. I still have a lot of the parts but sold off most of the figures, horses, shields, armour and barding during covid. For each set, just those parts were fetching about £180-200. There was a lot of demand from people that wanted them that presumably didn't buy the set first time around. 1 hour ago, Yperio_Bricks said: 10223 looks nice and has everything you would expect from such a set but please no expensive ~200€ remake. It was £100 12 years ago. They could probably do without the castle/gateway if they wanted a smaller playset. Quote

DonQuixote Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 As a castle fan, I am also a fan of Zelda (Ocarina of time is best game ever) and I was really looking forward to the new Zelda set but that price..... €$300 is ridiculous. Does look a €$200 set max. A pass for me. And no Ganondorf minifig is also a let down. Quote

I’m a fan of Japanese stuff, including Nintendo, so I might buy that one. I agree that it looks like it’s $200 to me. I don’t know if the price has to do with a high licensing tax or amount of pieces. Quote

I would guess there is a quite big amount of pieces. that you have left over when you build either of the two versions. So naturally when looking at the pictures it does seem like not that much for the money. And Nintento isn´t really known for cheap licensing - more quite the opposite. Quote

I am curious to see what parts are left after building each model, and how affordable it will be to buy the additional pieces necessary to build both models at once. A $300 set that only needs (for instance) $20 of extra parts to make the equivalent of two $200 sets suddenly sounds like a far better deal! Quote

Well the difference surely will be far smaller and surely you would still have to pay a big amount to complete the second one. For now I would wait and see where the set will end up in the end and if there will be discounts. Quote

To be fair, 10223 was meant to be purchased twice, you could connect two of them to create a bigger joust set with more tents and longer village display with front and rear structures!!! Aside from the build the furniture is some of the best in castles, I still replicate as much as possible in all my medieval sets, like the dressers, tables, chair and nightstands, etc. Quote
Classic_Spaceman Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 With 31120 retiring at the end of the year and eight new Creator sets coming in January 2025 (per Fateful on IG), I wonder if we will get another Castle 3-in-1. Maybe something different, like a smaller outpost with a siege tower that can be rebuilt into a boat or a wall with a wagon? 🤔 Quote

But seriously, I also don´t think, that if they would do a joust Set it would be less than 200€ since I would expect some Knights, some spectators, a King and Princess, Horses, Bardings, Tents etc. 19 hours ago, Classic_Spaceman said: With 31120 retiring at the end of the year and eight new Creator sets coming in January 2025 (per Fateful on IG), I wonder if we will get another Castle 3-in-1. Sure other castle builds are also something new in the end for creator, but if they would want more castle Sets, then they could aswell make Castle again - unless one of the creator guys is a big castle fan and trys to sneak in castle Sets that way ;). But given they made sets for Pirates (2020) Castle (2021) and Vikings (2022) and didn´t continue with it last and this year, I would guess those kind of sets are done for now, until they come back to them in a few years I guess. I can see a couple of guards, a few food vendors, one or two additional nobles, a musician, and a blacksmith (to repair weapons and armour) appearing as well. Additionally, given that the overwhelming response to the MTS has been that we would have paid more for it to include more animals and Minifigs, as well as to have prints instead of stickers, I suspect that the next Castle set will be more expensive but also have more of the things that we want in it. 1 hour ago, Black Falcon said: But given they made sets for Pirates (2020) Castle (2021) and Vikings (2022) and didn´t continue with it last and this year, I would guess those kind of sets are done for now, until they come back to them in a few years I guess. Maybe, but the pirate ship does not have a retirement date yet, and the castle retires at the end of this year (the Viking ship was the shortest-lived, lasting only a year), so I can see the lack of new sets simply being because LEGO wants to avoid having multiple similar products on shelves at the same time. Homie, Lego sold this set with a picture of two sets combined, we could combine it front and back with little mods, the set mas made to be connected and expanded! Back then that set brand new sold for 120 bucks, looking back on it, I remember when they discounted it towards the end of its run and I regret not grabbing more. Even back then it was considered a masterpiece of a set, I remember the critique in a good way that was a mix of AFOL and Lego. I agree with a reimagined version of this set, I’m just curious what factions they would feature, Kingdoms was a fantastic run, I’m curious if they would retheme to the current/old factions! As with old sets, I just got the reddish brown replacement bricks, I also got my mill village replacement parts and I’ll be happy to replace the broken ones or old ones. With that mentioned though they don’t sell a few colors in that set that made it difficult to get them through BL because they are priced a little higher priced than usual.(the dark green and dark blue colors on the tent especially hehe) Edited July 10, 2024 by eldiano Quote

Though of course we never know what they would include in it but I would really think it would be 200-250 max. 1 hour ago, Classic_Spaceman said: Maybe, but the pirate ship does not have a retirement date yet, and the castle retires at the end of this year (the Viking ship was the shortest-lived, lasting only a year), so I can see the lack of new sets simply being because LEGO wants to avoid having multiple similar products on shelves at the same time.
