I'm just throwing it out there, what if the vague 'medieval knight' in the title is because it's gonna be whatever has won the choose-your-faction minifig dispenser thingie?

But wouldn't Lego want the faction to be exlusive in the IDEAS set for a while? When is that minifig dispenser set supposed to be released?

Exactly, why I don´t think it will be inlcuded in the castle. So far there is no date for it as far as I know, and anyways there should be some other Ideas Sets that aren´t released yet but should before the prize machine.

Wasn't the one just retiring simply the "medieval castle"?

Anyway, I don't follow the 3 in 1 sets too much, so I have to ask: how often do they feature new printed pieces? Because we'd need a few to get any faction beyond Lions, Falcons or Forestmen (which feel... unlikely).

The Viking Ship had at 3 new torsos and a new hair mould, so it doesn´t seem impossible.

And the Black Falcons returned in the Creator Set, right?  We got the torso and the shield there, while some components were reused in the Blacksmith, Lion Knights, and CMF Falconer.

No the Black Falcons and their Shields were reused from the Medieval Blacksmith. Though it seems possible that they shared the budget for it, since both were released in the same year.

I'm hoping they surprise us with the Gumball Machine faction torso.  Or maybe one of the choices that didn't win the vote for the new faction.  Probably wishful thinking.

Thanks for the news! :classic:

Even when it will be "only" a Creator 3 in 1 set, a new Castle set for 2025 sounds great!

Due to the massive inflation over the passt years, I fear that the size and number of bricks and minifigs won't be much more than in the previous Creator 3 in 1 castle.

Which concerns the minifigure collection: Since it seems very likely that we'll see a tournament as Icons set in 2026, I could well imagine that Lego includes already (one of) the there included new faction(s) in this new Castle. Anyway, I don't think that the Creator 3 in 1 set will be Black Falcons or Lion Knights based, since Lego wants AFOLs to buy it, too (even if it primary will be JFOLs oriented).

Not impossible, but exception from the rule I think, there was not any Vikings in the portfolio they could use? My guess is that the helmet was from Vidiyo so it was up for grabs :shrug_oh_well:

I never heard of any sharing of budget for parts between themes, either they have the budget for the part or they do not. One theme release a part and if they are nice they let other themes use the part sometimes even if the other set is released before the one paying for it, e.g the D&D door :classic:

Ah, Blacksmith was first.  So maybe it will be the faction from the Ideas set.

Some fans have speculated that Lego would not reuse a ln Ideas exclusive torso so soon, but it was just a few months for the rebooted Black Falcons then.  But I still don't think it makes sense as the new faction should have its castle specific to it, and there doesn't seem a lot of time between end of that vote (June 2024) and release of this Castle (June 2025), especially for a 3 in 1 set.

But my wish is each build is for a different faction in the vote!  Boat for Kraken, forest for Raven, and imposing tower for bulls (sorry Griffins - too close to HP).  Harry Potter did that for a set.

Hope that 31168 Medieval Knight Castle (Summer 2025) will be a "Black Knight" Castle

Well that doesn´t change that they had a budget that had enough rooms for it - and even if the mould was made for Vidiyo, which doesn´t seem likely to me, the set still has to carry the budget to bring it into production.

Well they have used CMFs to bring back the goat for instance and be able to use it in other sets afterwards. Also, if a theme brings a part into production every other can use it, it isn´t like they have to ask the designers of the other themes if they could use it - though there is surely someone that has an eye on when the sets would retire, since the second set might keep a part in production which would else expire.

Hoping this castle is not BF or lion Knights.  Definitely buying this.  I am also hoping the silver great helm comes back with this castle.  Nice to see Castle getting the love but I wish a full on theme someday down the line.

Do we know when Gumball Machine is due to be released compared to new 3 in 1 castle?

Someone on reddit posted this so not my spot but the 3 in 1 Dragon box art has a castle in background so good bet thats the design. No hint at faction in that artwork though.

And more minifigures, though that one seems unlikely ;).

Creator sets usually skimp, but I think we will get at least four (three for $120, especially in a set with as much playability as a castle, is far too low!).

Unlikely; the previous 3-in-1 had a generic name as well, and LEGO is going to keep the prize machine faction exclusive for as long as they can (at least until the parts are on PAB).

Oh, that would be a really cool way of utilising the 3-in-1 format and encouraging people to buy multiple copies of the set!
I doubt that we will get any new factions, but something like an A model Lion Knights’ castle (the one that we see in the dragon’s box art), a B model Black Falcons’ outpost (tower with wall section), and a C model Forestmen’s hideout (a run-down structure with more foliage) would be amazing!

I am hoping for Lions as the main faction simply because their shields are still exclusive to the LKC!

I would argue that the yellow-and-brown building and dark blue roofs are hinting at Black Falcons again, as the design is similar to the previous 3-in-1, and because only the Black Falcons and Black Knights were the only factions to use yellow Tudor walls (and we can rule Black Knights out by the castle being grey).
That said, however, I also see red flags on the box art castle (as opposed to the prior 3-in-1’s blue), which could indicate Lions; if that is the case, then the colours may just be so that the new castle can be combined more easily with the previous one.

Same! What other parts do we want to see in the new MKC?
For my part, I am hoping for the silver greathelm, black greathelm, silver kettle helm, Falcons’ shield, both Lions’ shields, and the Forestmen’s shield; for Minifigs, I want a Black Falcon, a Lion noble (queen’s torso and legs), a Forestman, and the peasant woman with the dark green dress (same torso, skirt, and headgear as in the LKC).

Not impossible but likely it is just a artwork. We have no idea yet when the Ball Machine will release as of yet. But it should still be next year I think.

Well, if you count a skeleton, sure ;).

Last Castle had two knights and one minifig that looked more like a pirate rather than anything medival. So I would guess for the new one we will get two Knights again, maybe a King, since the Lion Knights Castle is missing one, and one skeletton.

The last one also had a skeleton, so five if we are counting skeletons as Minifigs (which LEGO does not anymore).

The "pirate" was supposed to be a peasant, but LEGO did not have any peasant torsos in their palette at the time (it still bugs me, though, despite my knowing why it happened).
A skeleton is basically a lock, as all castles have them now (how far we have come!). As for Minifigs, a Lion noble/king (depending on whether the crown mould is still in production) is a likely pick (and it would keep the queen's torso and legs in production), though I feel like if we were getting a king then he would be advertised in the set's name ("Medieval King's Castle", rather than "Medieval Knights' Castle"); we will definitely get two Lion Knights regardless of whether there is a king (if the castle is indeed for them), and also a peasant. Black Falcons and Forestmen would be good additions as well (in order to keep the pieces on PAB), but that is more likely wishful thinking than what we will actually get.

I know what it was supposed to be, my point was that it just looked misplaced there. They should have just gone with a third knight or give it a new Torso instead if they want a peasant.

Well another peasant surely is possible aswell, but my take would rather go towards a wolfpack bandit. One of the alternate builds could be their hideout then, maybe a ruin, or a tower similar to their old "home".

A medieval joust maybe in 2026.

Just a friendly reminder to all that a joust set is only speculation at this point, and has not even been rumoured!
It is a sensible choice for the next 18+ Castle set (for many reasons previously outlined), but we could just as easily get another big castle in 2026; with the LKC retiring at the end of 2025, LEGO may feel like they need to put out another 18+ castle to have on shelves as a companion for the MTS and whatever we get in 2028 (maybe a joust here instead?).
Sort of like how the Modular line has a corner-straight-straight cycle, I can see the 18+ Medieval line having a civilian-castle cycle (Medieval Blacksmith, LKC, MTS, 2026 castle?) every two years. Additionally, a large ($300-$400) Black Knights' castle in 2026 would allow for more Minifig parts and accessories to be made for the faction than a joust would - We need at least two new torsos (one with scale mail armour and one with a surcoat and crest), two shields (triangle and oval), barding, and some helmet/armour recolours (kettle helm, houndskull visor, classic breastplate, Praetorian shoulder armour, Ninjago MotM shoulder armour, etc), and we are not getting all of that in a joust set with Lions, Falcons, and peasants! Also, a reuse of the Wolfpack shield from the CMF (as the CMF Bard's parts were) would make more sense in a castle than in a joust.

Oh, I agree! A Falcon Lord (torso and legs with hair and a fur collar) would also have been a good choice for the third Minifig!

With the Wolfpack torso available from PAB, I think that putting one in the MKC would be a bit unnecessary; if LEGO wants to include an outlaw faction, I would prefer to see a Forestman, as their pieces are retiring with the LKC!

Yes, perfect timing with the Haunted House releasing as well!

I miss the old glow in the dark Ghost.  Hope they bring those back in some form.

The CMF are special, it seems that they often make figs to that fit with sets to make them better, both the goat-herder and the coming wolfpack fig is basically tie ins to the MTS set. They made the goat in CMF so they could include it in the set.
I think you are right if it's a part in production, however a new part that is made specially for a set I think they at least must ask politely to use it since it will steal some of the thunder from the set paying for it:shrug_oh_well:

I feel like if we were getting a new ghost mould, we would have seen it first in a CMF as a ‘ghost costume guy’ (it could be white with a flat front and back, with stitching/patches print).
