2025 Castle [wishlist/speculation]

I guess that in the next years we'll get an exclusive retro Castle set every two years:

- 2022: Lion Knights' Castle

- 2024: Medieval Town Square

- 2026: ??? Knights' Tournament / Black Knights' Castle / Wolfpack Castle

- 2028: ??? Medieval Town Center (addition to MTS with missing buildings like bakery, town hall, trader's store, blacksmith, ...)

- 2030: ??? Knights' Tournament / Black Knights' Castle / Wolfpack Castle

- 2032: ??? giant (yellow) Castle (100 years of Lego)

Plus there might of coursd be a GWP at least every second year.

I think the next will be the knights tournament as it’s referenced in MTS the same way the Wolfpack was referenced in LKC

I don´t see them doing a yellow castle, aside from maybe a small Set (GWP, insiders reward). I mean, how many people would really be interested in that? I don´t even see most Castle fans wanting it, aside from people that had the original maybe, so in my mind the demand for such a Set is very limited. Especially a giant one, which would limit people buing it way more.

That would be nice. Hopefully we will get Black Knights with new bardings and long dragon shields

Supposably you're right. But a new Yellow Castle does not necessarily have to be yellow, only it would need to have references to this old set. It could e. g. be tan (like a castle in the desert) and contain the factions which we've seen in the original one.

These would be indeed a great choice. But I also would like a faction from the dining room in the Lion Knights' Castle of which we haven't gotten any (updated) torsos yet. Which I guess is nearly safe to say is that the set will include Lion knights and Black Falcon knights.

 

Btw: If Lego released another retro Castle GWPs this year or in the next years, I bet for redesings of 6038 Wolfpack Renegades, 6040 Blacksmith Shop and / or 6041 Armor Shop (because these would be about the size of last year's Castle promo plus would not necessarily need any new torsos / minifigures and these would go very well with the LKC and the MTS). What do you think?

For a hundred years they might. In the lore it's supposed to be Gold so they could always make an accurate versions as the big anniversary set

Wolfpack Renegades is a Set I mentioned as such several times - about the other two, not sure really.I mean there are so many small sets out there they could do and those two aren´t just the ones that come to mind first for me.

Yeah, it'd be gaudy, but people eat up all gold things, LEGO always uses that to telegraph anniversaries or even just sets that are supposed to be super collectable in action themes. I don't doubt they'd do something like that even if I wouldn't like it

Unlikely, I know, but wouldn’t it be cool if one of the upcoming Lego movies was a kind of game of thrones struggle between all the in-house Lego themes. And castle would have a massive role to play in it.

The dispute is over resources, and who gets all the extra parts.

Where did you see this? The tapestry in the weaver’s shop is just another Yellow Castle/Classic Castle era reference, not a hint to the next set.

The Yellow Castle needs to be yellow! Also, LEGO has made multiple references to the YC in recent sets (the model in the LKC, the tapestry in the MTS), so I think we can consider it to be canonically yellow. 
As for reimagining it as a desert castle, I would rather just get a full Middle Eastern-inspired Castle faction (with an updated version of the PoP helmets that includes moulded chainmail to cover the back of the head), rather than just a tan reskin of a classic set. Also, we are not getting all of the original factions in a desert version of the Yellow Castle! 😬

While LEGO would never associate Castle with GoT (I still think the series is what put the theme on ice for the better part of a decade!), but a “The LEGO Castle Movie” would be fun. Yeah, maybe I'm just more pessimistic than you and think for the 100th anniversary of LEGO they'd totally try go all out and wind up making the worst LEGO Castle possible

Right, it'd be cool but that story only works if they're full LEGO, imagine real people in a minecraft movie esc environment arguing about spare parts.

I guess it is worth noting too that really only the first LEGO Movie cared about including classic LEGO themes, past there it's just the occasional CMF and Fabuland in TLM2. I wonder if there's gonna be anything except CMFs and Ninjago directly referenced

That's a stretch saying GOT is why Lego didn't do anymore castle.  If that was the case then why not stay away from LOTR.  That makes no sense at all 

And by that logic there are some really dark Star wars, Marvel and DC stories and they still continue to make sets from those themes.  Not to mention several very dark and disturbing things about Ninja and yet Ninjago is still here.  

I do agree with @clonecommando99 that a castle theme with inner struggles over resources would be interesting and could be done well with the right people at the helm.

That was essentially the storyline of Chima, tribes fighting over the mystical chi. I doubt LEGO would do fighting over food or similar, especially if it was a kids range. It is easier to do a few factions and the consumer decides if they are fighting and why, or if there is a reason, then have a fantasty resource not linked to real world struggles.

This gives me a lot of crazy ideas that should of course not be real sets. Imagine a bandit faction led by the evil sorcerer Trump and the main bad guy set would be "Trump Tower". An expansion pack could be called "Let's Build a Wall".

Parts 30113 and 3626bp3j could be used for an evil shaman.

I really hope that they have some sort of replacement set for the Creator Medieval Castle because it is the only Castle set that is readily available and in a price range that most families can afford. Castle needs more small sets as well.

I suspect that the prize machine faction will remain exclusive, at least until the next 18+ Castle set (2026 at the earliest); if we get a Creator Castle set in 2025, it will probably feature Lion Knights (and maybe a Wolfpack bandit).

Not yet. Maybe early 2HY 2025, since the poll was in May 2024 (assuming the standard 1.5-2 year development cycle).
