Lion King Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 I do not think we will see “Year of Castle” in 2025. Not only Bed & Breakfast Castle from Friends or Medieval Town Square from Icons but there are also a few new so-called castle sets from DreamZzz (Z-Blob the Knight and Castle Nortorium). The more I look at all of thlem, the less convening I get. I do understand tht Galaxy Explorer reached its EOL by end of 2023 and Lion Knights’ Castle will meet its own EOL by end of this year. But it stilldoesn’t convince me that we will see more Castle sets just yet. MTS just arrived a few month ago as a follow-up set to Lion Knights’ Castle. it’s just interesing that brown Classic Spaceman from CMF Series 24 last year. Andnow, then we have cross-cutting Space sets this year. So in January of 2024, we saw Vampire Knight from CMF Series 25. But he and those new sets I mentioend above don’t tell me anything about 2025 as Year of Castle. about 2025 just yet. Quote

There have been too many almost-but-not-quite castle sets this year that I'd think they'd have delayed a bit to make a splash. I'd discount the DreamZzz set from the speculation, though. That's tied to media and media scheduling requires coordination so is less flexible. Quote

Where do you have the information from, that Lion Knights Castle would run out this year? As far as I know the known EOL date for it should be next year not this. Quote
Khargeust Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) We need more affordable castle sets like the good days of old. It's a luck we have 21325, 10305, 40567 and 10332 recently but it's also a pity that we only had these sets since the last full range ended in 2015. I hope we will not have to wait the 100th annversary of the brand to see the reboot of the Black Knights and their black castles ! Edited May 22, 2024 by Khargeust Quote

Yeah, so far it's the 3-in-1 Castle that seems scheduled to retire, not Icons. 6 hours ago, Khargeust said: We need more affordable castle sets like the good days of old. Did you forget 31120 ? it might lack figures a bit (only 2 falcon knights), or no horses, but still one of the best "affordable" castle of recent times, actually the lowest price directly sold Castle set for the past few years. (even if it has been full price here pretty much all the time) Hopefully the fact it lasted almost 3.5 years (if retiring after 2024), is a sign that more can come, the Pirate Ship lasted even longer and even will still be around even for 2025, Viking Ship was more niche and had a shorter lifespan, even with Viking Village being current. The last "wave" of somewhat castle sets, to me, feels like the 2020 Ninjago dungeon subtheme, would certainly fit in Fantasy Castle from the 2007/2008 era. Edited May 23, 2024 by TeriXeri Quote

(even if it has been full price here pretty much all the time) I honestly like that castle, as it still looks nice and has some nice parts. But as a set for Kids it is sadly lacking Minifigs and Horses, as you mentioned. And I still think that the third minifig doesn´t look very medival. For me it would better fit to Pirates than Castle. Anyways, If we really would get another Set next year that would be great. Though I think that Castle counts more towards Creator 3in1 Sets than really castle IMO. Quote
Triceron Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 I dropped $100+ easily on PAB to build up an army. It's the best time for any castle fan to army build. I know people want small box castle sets, but I think PAB is the best alternative And with D&D under way, I don't think Castle will be in very low availability. We have always had alternatives, while Lego can play the long game and focus on making one premium Castle set every 2-3 years and keep Castle fans satisfied. I think that is their best solution for the theme. I would also like a Castle CMF line but also dread it for the sake of my wallet. I had very little interest in wave 25, and I still ended up dropping $60 easily on em, I'd hate to see what I'd spend on a series I wanted every figure for. And the upcoming D&D stuff is already looking like it might be a must-have for Castle army building, with all the new accessories it is bringing Quote

Thanks to QR code , it’s easy to buy the desirables minifigures. Without getting duplicate minifigures. I’m totally up for Castle CMF. I would understand that Series 26 Space is not for non-Space fans. I loe in-house sets / sereis so I tend to collect them, such as Space City sets and Series 26 Space. My poor wallet will cry for its mercy…. Quote

BitByBrick Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Griffin got my vote. I’d also vote for the Kraken if allowed two votes. Hoping no one votes for the crow, since it has already been done. No re-hashing old designs please. New factions are always welcome. Quote

I wonder if the Kraken shield is designed by someone from Seattle? Their NHL team is named Kraken and teal is associated with Seattle. Quote
Captain_SoyBeard Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 I voted Crows because I already have some from CMF and it would be good with more. However I liked them all. It would be great to see Bulls returningm Griffin looked cool but the number 1 was Kraken actually. Quote
Triceron Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 For whatever reason I selected both kraken and griffin, and it let me submit that as my answer. I'm not sure if it counts my vote or throws it away. I'd prefer Griffin, but overall want it all. There'a literally no lack of room for new factions, especially with how CMF has been keeping Castle relevant. Quote
DonQuixote Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 I prefer Griffin and than Raven second place Quote

A sea based faction would mean we could finally get some medieval style ships! I’ve voted Kraken because it’s the first time we’ve had the opportunity to get a non-land-based faction. I understand if you want Griffin. But c’mon, the crows and Bulls have been done before and are factions don’t really have anything unique going for them aside from their insignias. The Krakens on the other hand have the opportunity to bring in an aquatic section to castle lore. Something that I don’t think we’ve seen since the Troll warship. Plus it appears to have a gorgeous colour-scheme. So in short I’m advocating for Krakens because it will be an interesting and unprecedented addition to Castle’s lore. Vote Kraken!! Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 I too voted for the Kraken! The Kraken Knights would make a nice faction for a medieval port (town) and a cog or an other ship. Quote

At least in stores I barely saw them discounted, unless it were leftovers from an older wave. If they would make a castle CMF, it wouldn´t be that unlikely that I would want at least most of the minifigs and then buying a whole box might be a good choice since you can get good discounts on those. 2 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Long live the legions of mighty Cthulhu!! I see like zero chance that they would make Sets based on any of the minifigures. Sure it would be cool to get something, but for now I think we will have to be happy getting Sets like the Lion Knights Castle and the retro factions. And don´t get my wrong, the Kraken looks great but it is hard to Imagine how the minifigure would look like. Somehow the shield looks more like from some sea people and if this doesn´t make the vote I could see Lego using it for that in a CMF. Quote

It's not like they are some sort of sword wielding squids Quote

Like I could imaging the Griffin to have a helmetwith little wings - though admitedly that likely is very unlikely to happen lol. Quote
