Does anyone know where to get the 2012 summer Star Wars sets here in the U.S.?

The summer wave is always officially an August release in the US. Even at TRU and smaller stores, I wouldn't expect to see them earlier than late June or July, and it's really anybody's guess as to when or where they'll first appear.

I was in Berlin yesterday (Monday) taking the scenic route back from the Eurobricks event. Imagine my surprise when I managed to pick up some of the new summer 2012 wave of sets.

The sets I managed to pick up were:

9500 Sith Fury Class Interceptor

9497 Republic striker class fighter

9499 Gungan sub

9498 Saesee Tin's Jedi Star Fighter

9516 Jabba's Palace

9515 The Malevolence

9496 Desert skiff

Not long to wait until they come to a store near you (at least in Europe)?

Bfenz was happy as she picked up some summer 2012 LEGO Friends sets also.

I love how the new Star Wars sets are trickling out across Europe and I can't wait until they hit here in the U.S. It is a given that TRU will have the sets first but my first question would be: How much is TRU going to mark them up? i'm a bit concerned because a LOTR set is marked up $30 whole dollars! :oh: I really hope they don't mark up Jabba's Palace and Malevolence too much since they are the two biggest sets of the lineup. My second question would be: Is there a specific date in late July that the sets will appear on TRU's website or is it random each year?

They are available already via TRU Germanay (website), but I'm not sure how the U.S. may lag behind.

I called my TRU last week and they said they're expecting the new SW sets this Friday (not sure how reliable their info is though. Also my TRU got all the LOTR sets about half a week before I saw anyone get one here so they may be an outlier). I'd say the markup at TRU will be in the range of $10-20 with $20+ on the bigger sets like Jabba's Palace.

No way?! You say they hit TRU on Friday?! That would definitely be the earliest we have ever gotten them! 2 whole months earlier! :cry_happy::thumbup: Now the question is: If they do happen to get them on Friday, will they be available on their website or just in your store.

From what I recall the past couple years, LEGO Star Wars sets will appear in TRU stores and on their website within a few days of one another.

I stopped by TRU this evening and the LEGO reps were in there stocking the shelves. They completely stocked all the shelves with all the current sets for all the various themes that are currently in release. I asked if they knew when the new SW sets were going to be released and they told me probably at the end of June. There was only one LEGO LotR set that they put out.

I called TRU again today to see if the delivery had gotten there early. However, I talked to someone who seemed a little less knowledgeable about the status of new sets--couldn't really confirm anything. She did say, though, that they are expecting a huge shipment of SW and LOTR sets tomorrow. So now I'm really crossing my fingers that the new sets do come in.

This makes me a little less confident but you do say that there was only one LOTR set. My TRU is ordering more LOTR and they got all the LOTR (except the Target-exclusive Orc Forge) and Monster Fighter sets a bit early. Unfortunately for me, I didn't care about those; I just want the SW sets early.

I have spent hours looking for these sets and they are in Australia at Toys r us. Jabbas palace and the skiff and the planet sets. I do not know if it was a fluke but there was 1 9516 hidden at the back of a shelf and 4 Skiffs in a hard to find place.

I've not ever had luck with asking for info at TRUs. Either they tell me whatever I'm looking for is definitely coming in on the next truck (even when they don't take a moment to research my question, they just automatically give me that favorable response) or they tell me that it's not coming in and they don't know when they're getting it (again, not even bothering to check the inventory system or even pretend to pull something up on a comupter).

In any case, I think these won't hit the US till later. TRU just did a small reset to accomodate the LOTR stuff, so I can't see them doing another reset just a couple of weeks later.

I just left my Great Dark Age last year so I'm just curious: is it usual for a wave to hit stores in Australia, Germany and Austria weeks before they get to the US? Thanks in advance!

In the last few years the Star Wars sets haven't reached the US until the end of July or early August, while Europe and Australia has been getting the sets in late spring/early summer, so yes we are last to get them. Let's see if there is any substance in the rumors about an imminent US released, but I am not holding my breath.

Even within the USA, sets will show up at different times in different areas. Luckily for me, I always purchase sets on sale or if there is a promo. And if there's a promo and sale running at the same time, even better. I don't have to have a set right when it's released.
