Seijitai Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Thats exactly what i said . I said they will discontinue the first wave of 2009 sets first before the battle of endor. So your right with the AAT being discontinued considering we're getting lots of new 2010 lego. UCS tends to have a longer life span. I know, I was just adding my two cents to your two cents to make it four That's indeed a short life span in my opinion. The AAT was one of the best sets IMO. Quite a large range of minifigs and a nice vehicle to go along... Well, RIP AAT... Quote
Big Cam Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 My local target and wal-mart FINALLY have the new sets but that darn land speeder is always sold out, but at least there is a spot for it. Quote

I've noticed the spot for the Landspeeder also at the 2 Wal-Marts here, even though it's always empty. They have all the other sets in stock though, so I wonder if they sold all the Landspeeders or if they just have a spot for it, but haven't actually gotten any in yet. There were TONS at my local walmart last week. Around 40 of them were there. Just got back from toysrus today and the guy was starting to put some of the 2010 star wars sets on the shelves that has been empty for 2 months. Its like another Christmas is here again. Quote

I'm going with it's the most popular, in Wal-Mart I usually don't see tags if they don't have it, so that's a good thing. Quote
roxio Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 new 2010 sets starting to show up in the UK at Tesco's, spotted both battlepacks and landspeeder today Quote

Ya that set has tons of minifigures that were very rare before. But now i bet the minifigures will not be worth as much now. I think the landspeeder is a much better buy than the swamp speeder. (it only has 1 cool figure - barris) Quote

The swamp speeder is almost the same as the separatist droid. We get barris instead of fox, clone swap and a regular droid rather than a droid commander. But i guess lego smartened up by making the swamp speeder box LARGE just so it can help sell it better than the separatist droid. The speeder is actually pretty nice but it isn't worth the price. I have it and its tiny.. But most sets these days have either shrunk up or/and raise the prices. To get a $30 US set with the same size/pieces a few years ago, we'll have to purchase $40 US sets now. (i.e $40 pirate tank vs $30 swamp speeder) Quote

Alldarker Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) The 6081 Swampspeeder + 2 Battlepacks 3-in-1 set is now available in the Netherlands at Intertoys stores. Costing €49.99, it is a pretty good deal for a set which on it's own seemed to just be a €39.99 S@H exclusive for the Netherlands (we have no T'r'U's anymore!). Big Cam Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I'm not familair with the Netherland dollar (is it called a dollar, sorry). Is the 3 pack a better deal than buying them separetaly?? Is it cheaper to get them that way? Quote

And in the Netherlands the battlepacks cost €14.99 a piece, meaning the combi set saves €19.98 in all (€39.99+€14.99+€14.99 sets for €49.99)! Quote

CF Mitch Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 @ Alldarker: Thanks for the news!! Do you happen to know anything more specific than 'just' The Hague? For example in the Weimarstraat, or the city centre (Spui, I believe) or at Apeldoornselaan? Oh and we still have a Toys 'R' Us, in the Megastores, only now it's called "Toys XL" or something Thanks in advance! CF W Quote

Oh and we still have a Toys 'R' Us, in the Megastores, only now it's called "Toys XL" or something Thanks in advance! CF W Nope, nothing more specific than The Hague, although I presume it's the large Spuistraat one. It was a guy on www.lowlug.nl who spotted the set there and posted about it. I in fact found and bought the set at Intertoys on the Coolsingel in Rotterdam, and I also spotted it in the Intertoys Leiden, which leads me to suspect it is, or will be, available in all Intertoys stores. I think they all received about 3 or 4 of these sets. By the way, don't be fooled by the Toys XL: it has nothing to do anymore with the Toys 'R' Us any more except that they are in the same locations. TRU totally sold off their stake in these stores. TRU in the Netherlands used to be a joint venture with the Blokker chain, which of course also owns the Bart Smit and Intertoys toy chains. However, TRU pulled out of the joint venture due to lack of revenue and due to an over-saturated toy market dominated (in fact, practically monopolized) by Blokker owned stores, and took the rights to use the name with them, but also the TRU exclusives and anything else to do with TRU. Clone OPatra Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I think the info in the locked news topic on the Wampa Cave price must be wrong. It was reported that it would be $40 USD, so I can't believe it would be 50 Euros. Not that anything but the $40 matters too much to me, but that would be extremely terrible in Europe to be 50 Euros. Usually sets have about the same number price in the US and Europe (even though that's still worse for Europe). Where did the 49.99 Euros come from? On a related topic, I think $40 USD for the Wampa Cave is actually a really good price these days. It has a Snowspeeder, which I know they'd sell for at least $20 by itself without a turret these days, plus a cave, the new big Wampa mould, a play feature with the lightsaber, and some extra detail like the animal bones. All-in-all, it seems like a really good price to me, and an anecdote to those terribly priced sets like the Swamp Speeder (and CTT at $120 seems pretty high to me). I wonder why LEGO sometimes to make reasonably-priced SW sets, like the Landspeeder too. It seems like an evil treat to put out one or two sets at ok prices, and then some at really terrible prices. Ya 50 Euros is cracy. But of course, there is a larger market in the US so it even outs. $30 US for this set would probably be more suitable but with the high prices lately, we're lucky already to get it at $40 especially since we get a new wampa. I expected $50 considering TLG has been rapidly increasing LEGO sets recently. But if we compare it with the hoth rebel base, this set is no match for it. By adding $10, we get so much more.
