Star Wars sets anyone?

Can anyone shed some light on how UK Exclusives are distributed ?

TRU ones (7666, 7754 etc) and Argos (Pirate Tank) seem to be exclusive only to those retailers (and S@H) for their life.

However the mid scale MF, released by Tesco with those awful exclusive stickers on, can now be had at other retailers.

Why the differences ?

The landspeeder is a top selling product and probably the first exclusive from walmart that is selling so well. (after walmart start getting lego again 2 years ago). I don't have any suggestions other than to keep checking their stores and the lego site (currently backorder).

I was thinking it would be more than that! What a score! 80 bucks, I was thinking 100 flat. Everything in SW was overpriced, so if you set your expectations low like me, nice surprises will come your way.

Palpy's Shuttle has 590 pieces and is a reasonable 60. The others are overpriced but not by that much. I know prices are going up but that is ridiculous.

This is why I don't buy too much star wars anymore back when I started buying in 2007 you got more for your dollar. I don't think I'll get any star wars sets this year.

To be fair, it does have some really nice new figures and the new carbonite Han, and it's the freakin' Slave I. The price is okay, I reckon.

Yes, $80 does seem a bit high. Though, unlike Palpy's Shuttle this is a big, beautiful model with some cool functions and great figures. It also has a few big parts, which drive up the price a little. $70 would have been more reasonable, but then again the ARC had a parts count in the 300s and was $60, because it was a big model.

It's not really all about the amount of pieces, it's about how the model feels and looks when completed. Will it seem large and majestic? We'll have to wait and see.

It seems that the Slave I is quite an inflating ship. $20 to $50, and now $80. But of course each was different.

In New Zealand terms $80 US for the slave 1 is a steal! Im going to buy all of the sets off the Starwars.com shop so I save quite a bit of money.

Well it does, the biggest set in the POP line costs the same as the Slave 1, 821 pices to barely 500. What a rip-off.

Yes I think so, but remember the licensed themes cost more due to licensing costs, plus they sell much better than the randomly created themes like atlantis.

I believe that in the U.S. the speeder is a Walmart exclusive. Several facts back up this thought: it was first found at Walmarts even before it was supposed to come out, and it does not appear on the Target or TRU websites while it is on the Walmart website. Also, I have seen no spot for it in my TRU or Targets.

Do you actually have a spot for it in any non-Walmart store you've been in? Or do you mean you haven't been able to find it at any Walmarts? Either way, I wouldn't expect to see it in any store but a Walmart.

$80 ($10 less than AT-TE) for slave I is indeed expensive compared to previous price of $50. All lego is increasing such as republic gunship and Clone turbo tank. Those should be priced at $99 instead of $120. But lego really has been increasing price lately.

Luke landspeeder is a top selling product even though its marked up to $25 like all other Star Wars. But with so many rare minifigures for $5 more, people won't mind that.

I think they corrected their mistake, because when ordering the item it shows the original price at € 74.95.

Still if you go to a few lego webshops you can get a deal not far off this one. For instance www.2ttoys.nl.

The landspeeder at € 20 is for sure, because the price is also shown in door-to-door advertising.

I'm going with it's the most popular, in Wal-Mart I usually don't see tags if they don't have it, so that's a good thing.

You're right, with persistence I was finally able to track one down at a local Wal-Mart (they only had 3 left). The next day they were gone again and I haven't seen any since. They go fast once they are stocked. I'm beginning to believe that it is a Wal-Mart exclusive as well. It's got the Special Edition marking on it and I haven't seen it in any other store. I was even at the nearby TRU earlier today and they had every new set (including loads of Swamp Speeders) but no Landspeeders and no spot for them.

They didn't even have the Luke's Landspeeder at the Lego store. Apparently it's on "online exclusive", which really sucks. I'll have to check Walmart though.
