KimT Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Okie dokey. I guess topics like this will keep popping up around here. A new topic for hunting SW sets will appear shortly. KimT Quote
stampede_dude Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 (edited) My local WalMart has a pretty big section for clearance toys, and I check it every time I go. One of the only sets from last year that I want and don't have is the Y-Wing, so imagine how I felt when I found a beat up Y-Wing and some Jedi Starfighters in the clearance section! I couldn't find a price sticker, so I took it to a barcode scanner, and it still rang up $38.88 The toy clerk wasn't there today, so unfortunately I went home emptyhanded. Has anyone else's local WalMart reduced the older Lego SW sets? The first Lego SW set I bought in there was the Tie Interceptor on markdown, so I know it does happen...Thanks! P.S. I was going to post this in the B/S/T forums, but since I'm a vassal it would be against the rules. Also, my intents do not involve buying, selling, or trading anything here at Eurobricks. Derek Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Mine had the Imperial Landing craft the other day for $40. I left it there... Quote
WisrthanU Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Let's see. My local Wal-Mart had: A few 7659 Imperial Landing Crafts, A few 7660 Naboo N-1 Starfighter™ with Vulture Droids, Many 7662 Trade Federation MTTs, and A few 7661 Jedi Starfighter™ with Hyperdrive Booster Rings. I'm pretty sure they were 20% off. Quote
Parky Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I found Clone and Droid Battle Packs there one day for about 5.95 CAD each . Picked up a few. Quote
The Nightwing Reborn Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 (edited) My WalMart has few sets from even the begining of 2008, nothing from 2007, but Target. Thank the world for Target, they are better for old items here in CO. Sometime I am gonna have to get that Kit Fisto set but, if not there is the possibility of that Palpatine set. Anyway no sale at my local WalMart, but Target is another story. )TNR( Edited August 7, 2008 by The Nightwing Reborn Quote
KimT Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Topics as this should be in the BSTF and not here. Therefore this is closed. Quote
KimT Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Buy/sell/trade again. This does not belong here. Perhaps we should have a thread dedicated solely for the hunting of SW sets. I'll think about it. In the meantime, please remember that this site is worldwide and it might not bother a Bulgarian or African wether a set is available in the US or not. Topic closed KimT This thread is reopened. The thread is meant to discuss the availability of Star Wars sets. - Exclusives and so forth. Thanks to "the enigma that is badger" for bringing my above post to my attention. I forgot about it and for that I am sorry. Please remember that ranting on the price difference is not welcome here. Quote
The Rancor Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I expect before long, the Fighter Tank will be on US S@H for people in the USA who are worried! Quote
SWMAN Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 We usually get our US Target exclusives by... sprinting across the border. The information said that it would be a tandem release of S@H and Target. While you don't have Target in Canada, you do have computer, right (lol)? While it might be more expensive to buy off of S@H with sales tax (depending on where you live) and shipping, that might be your best bet. Quote
KimT Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I've taken the liberty of merging this fine thread by "the enigma that is badger" with some of the other set-searching threads, that I closed when becoming a regulator. There's a need here to discuss these matters and therefore it'll be allowed within this topic. Please note that the rant upon price difference isn't welcome here. Take it to the LEGO News and General discussion instead. This is for Star Wars sets only. Happy hunting and good luck to us all in finding what we look for Quote
LEGOscum Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) I've taken the liberty of merging this fine thread That's a cool forum feature. I wish we had it over at "that other site". Jeremy Edited August 12, 2008 by LEGOscum Quote
Siegfried Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Great work KimT! I ended up doing the same with the "What should I buy" topic. It keeps the forum more readable. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Found a Naboo N-1 Fighter + Vulture Droid on for 29.99 CAD at my local Sears. Not a big save, but a save nonetheless. Quote
KimT Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Found a Naboo N-1 Fighter + Vulture Droid on for 29.99 CAD at my local Sears. Not a big save, but a save nonetheless. Erhm...this is NOT the "what did I buy today" topic. This is the topic to hunt the precious "Limited" sets and to discuss the availability of Star Wars sets. Quote
Big Pete Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Sorry if this has been posted in another thread (a search for Jetix didn't come up with anything). http://www.sfx.co.uk/page/sfx?entry=the_cl...s_invades_jetix I got the mag today and you basically get a shiny new Clone Trooper (no guns or accessories though) as a free gift in the magazine. It costs £3.99. The figures are from the Clone Wars minifig building event, I believe ... Quote
Trudop561 Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I believe that people will buy every Jetix magazine they find just for the minifig. Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I don't believe a Clonetrooper is worth £4 to me, even with a kids magazine I won't read. Quote
foxy Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 That's good news i'm off to tesco to buy about 50. Quote
pedro Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 £3.99 is cheapest you'll be able to buy a clonetooper for outside a set. The cheapest current set with clones is 7681 and you get two - with droids of course - so for the same price you'd get 5 normal clonetroopers. I reckon a lot of people will happily go that. Might pick up a couple myself... or just buy another 7681. Quote
Casval Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Too bad I live in the US otherwise I might buy up a few of these magazines. Right now I have five Phase I troopers(plus all three commanders/captains) that man my RGS, but if I were to buy a AT-TE, I would need a few more. Oh well. Quote
KimT Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Nice info. I'll move this to the proper topic. Thanks for letting us know. Quote
Dovchenko Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I came across them for a good price and I remember them for 1999, I wasn't old enough to really hard-core collect and I wasn't picky about what I bought. Even by today's standards the sets seem to be pretty nicely built, even if they're very blocky. Does anyone have one of these two sets and has advice or anything major to say about them? That Watto figure looks cool, I've always liked the Podrace from Episode I. Quote
AFOL SF Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 For the Pod Race, your best bet for a complete set will be eBay. This set is selling below retail price. Watto's Junkyard is on the other hand commanding a higher than retail price on eBay. Good luck and hope you'll get the chance to own both sets in the near future. Quote
