Star Wars sets anyone?

My local WalMart has a pretty big section for clearance toys, and I check it every time I go. One of the only sets from last year that I want and don't have is the Y-Wing, so imagine how I felt when I found a beat up Y-Wing and some Jedi Starfighters in the clearance section! I couldn't find a price sticker, so I took it to a barcode scanner, and it still rang up $38.88 The toy clerk wasn't there today, so unfortunately I went home emptyhanded.

Has anyone else's local WalMart reduced the older Lego SW sets? The first Lego SW set I bought in there was the Tie Interceptor on markdown, so I know it does happen...Thanks!

P.S. I was going to post this in the B/S/T forums, but since I'm a vassal it would be against the rules. Also, my intents do not involve buying, selling, or trading anything here at Eurobricks.

Mine had the Imperial Landing craft the other day for $40. I left it there...

Let's see. My local Wal-Mart had:

A few 7659 Imperial Landing Crafts,

A few 7660 Naboo N-1 Starfighter™ with Vulture Droids,

Many 7662 Trade Federation MTTs,

and A few 7661 Jedi Starfighter™ with Hyperdrive Booster Rings. I'm pretty sure they were 20% off.

I found Clone and Droid Battle Packs there one day for about 5.95 CAD each . Picked up a few.

My WalMart has few sets from even the begining of 2008, nothing from 2007, but Target. Thank the world for Target, they are better for old items here in CO.

Sometime I am gonna have to get that Kit Fisto set but, if not there is the possibility of that Palpatine set. Anyway no sale at my local WalMart, but Target is another story.

We usually get our US Target exclusives by... sprinting across the border.

The information said that it would be a tandem release of S@H and Target. While you don't have Target in Canada, you do have computer, right (lol)? While it might be more expensive to buy off of S@H with sales tax (depending on where you live) and shipping, that might be your best bet.

There's a need here to discuss these matters and therefore it'll be allowed within this topic.

I got the mag today and you basically get a shiny new Clone Trooper (no guns or accessories though) as a free gift in the magazine. It costs £3.99.

The figures are from the Clone Wars minifig building event, I believe ...

£3.99 is cheapest you'll be able to buy a clonetooper for outside a set. The cheapest current set with clones is 7681 and you get two - with droids of course - so for the same price you'd get 5 normal clonetroopers. I reckon a lot of people will happily go that. Might pick up a couple myself... or just buy another 7681.

Too bad I live in the US otherwise I might buy up a few of these magazines. Right now I have five Phase I troopers(plus all three commanders/captains) that man my RGS, but if I were to buy a AT-TE, I would need a few more. Oh well.

I came across them for a good price and I remember them for 1999, I wasn't old enough to really hard-core collect and I wasn't picky about what I bought. Even by today's standards the sets seem to be pretty nicely built, even if they're very blocky. Does anyone have one of these two sets and has advice or anything major to say about them? That Watto figure looks cool, I've always liked the Podrace from Episode I.

For the Pod Race, your best bet for a complete set will be eBay. This set is selling below retail price. Watto's Junkyard is on the other hand commanding a higher than retail price on eBay. Good luck and hope you'll get the chance to own both sets in the near future.
