KimT Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Topic merged into the proper topic - confused? Good As a collector I say "get both". Quote
pedro Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 (edited) I decided to pick up the newly released Jetix magazine on my way to work this morning. This issue is the 'Star Wars takeover' issue and contains a free Clonetrooper! Here's a shot of the magazine: And here's the panel with the clonetrooper. He's in a wee resealable baggy within the packaging: At £3.99 it's not the cheapest magazine, but worth picking up one or two clonetroopers. You also get free Clone Wars stickers and other non-Lego stuff. It's worth noting that when I got my copy of Jetix two magazines had been already been vandalised and the clonetroopers stolen. I can only assume at that time in the morning - and most likely armed with the knowledge of this magazine's release - it was another Star Wars Lego fan desperate for his trooper but unwilling to part with £3.99... how sad. Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Erhm...this is NOT the "what did I buy today" topic. This is the topic to hunt the precious "Limited" sets and to discuss the availability of Star Wars sets. I know, but...it IS a Star Wars set and it IS a Find... Now I'm confused... Quote
KimT Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I know, but...it IS a Star Wars set and it IS a Find... Now I'm confused... Good The plan works then. Nice find pedro, a little too pricey for me. I hope we'll see something like that with the weekly Donald Duck Magazine here in Denmark. They're previously given us Exo-Force promotionals and perhaps we'll get a clone trooper. Then I'll get me a zillion (or less). Quote
RDG31 Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Hi People Went into my local TRU in the UK last week to pick up the limited edition separatist spider droid but it was £24.99 and i thought that was a bit too much for what it was so decided to take a look around there other sets and there I found this, I could not believe my eyes have always wanted and had never realised it was a limited edition set and so without a second thought I bought it for £49.99 (about $94) and its well worth it. Included in the set are 7 minifigs 2x Snowtrooper 2x Hoth Rebel Trooper K-3PO Luke Skywalker (Pilot) Dack Ralter You also get a probe droid which is pretty cool and a Snowspeeder. The base itself is a little small but you get a rather large rebel turret and one for the Snowtroopers, a small docking station for the Snowspeeder which allows you to move it 360 degrees, a little radar station and a crane you can use to take the side engines off of the Snowspeeder. I love the opening doors just big enough for the Snowspeeder to fit through and they work perfectly. The build didn't take very long but i liked the fact there were so many different little things to build like the probe droid and the turret. Below I have posted a few pictures the quality isn't very good because i took them on my phone but hey. Overall I would rate this set 9/10, would just have liked the inside of the base to be a bit bigger. If you are a Star Wars fan you need this set. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_007.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_008.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_009.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_010.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_011.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_012.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_013.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_014.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_015.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_016.jpg[/img] http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RDG31/Ho...th_base_017.jpg[/img] Quote
SWMAN Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I never bought this set, simply because this was between the time when I stopped buying sets (2 years ago) and when I started (a few weeks ago). It looks like an ok set, but could have been better if Lego had pursued Hoth more and had sets that could attach to this to make more of a base instead of a door. Also, might want to take better pics. Quote
Hinckley Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Below I have posted a few pictures the quality isn't very good because i took them on my phone but hey. Also, might want to take better pics. What a nice way to welcome a newer member, SWMAN. RDG31, Congratulations on finding this set. You can find more info about it's return in this thread and it should also be available on the LEGO shop at home website again. Quote

The Rancor Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 (edited) I got the mag today and you basically get a shiny new Clone Trooper (no guns or accessories though) as a free gift in the magazine. It costs £3.99. How long will this magazine be available? Only for one week? It seems a bit sad that people couldn't even part with less than a fiver for a clone trooper. I thought Lego fans were much better than that... Then again, they may not have been proper Lego fans! EDIT: Pedro, what is the surprise gift, although it isn't Lego? Joey Lock Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I dont know if this has been posted but In the new Jetix issue you get a free Clone Trooper!: Awesome! I think its a American Mag isnt it? If its in britain, Awesome! Quote
Dadster Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I've never seen it, but I'll be sure to poke around extra carefully when perusing the bookstore... Quote
Oky Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 OK, here is the unsure-routine: I don't know how long this has been like that, and I don't know if that has been mentioned yet, but... The old Clone BP is showing up on S@H in the US again! And it's on sale for USD 4.98 too! But unfortunately, it says that it's sold out. I hope that will change soon... Link-a-dee-doo-dah Quote
Bricks0937 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I looked it up and it's based out of the UK. Quote
pedro Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Pedro, what is the surprise gift, although it isn't Lego? It's either a toy crossbow with Nerf-like darts or a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pencil-case. Quote
pedro Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 This news has already been posted in this thread Joey: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19837 And that looks a lot like the photo I took of the magazine! Quote
pr0visorak Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 It looks really nice. I will be looking aroung for it here.Hopefully it is in singapore too! Quote
Justin2224 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Man, probably one of the cheapest ways to get a Clone, and you can't get it here in the US, or Pau City. Quote
MightyMegs Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I really like this set too... a great snowspeeder, a ton of figures, the clear rebel map-screen, and that killer door. Everytime I close it, I hear Chewbacca cry. Quote
Dovchenko Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Welcome to Eurobricks, ignore peole posting... well, weird things... and you'll be alright. The Hoth Rebel Base is my most recent set. I bought it without thinking because of the sudden re-release. I felt that I chose without thinking, that I was about to waste 70 bucks. At first, I was too tired to play around with it. But days after, I love the set and can't wait to get the AT-ST and AT-AT, both of last year, to finish the scene AND my hobby. Quote
KimT Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 So I've put the Jetix thread in here (and that does look like your pic, pedro) along with the rediscovery of the 7666 Hoth Rebel Base. I was in the local TRU yesterday. Another store has 40% on LEGO and TRU has a price guarantee. And they had plenty of the new CW series and 7666 Hoth Rebel Bases (I saw 20+ sets). Unfortunately I didn't see any Fighter Tanks - darn that limited version thingy. But I did get me the Twilight and Homing Spider Droid with a discount Quote
