100x100.JPGL3-37: Congratulations, you're liberated. Scoot. ... I don't know. Free your brothers or sisters or something.

Unbeknownst to her, L3's words would have repercussions 15 years later. Some of the droids inspired by her act in "liberating" them escaped Kessel and have carried on a quiet rebellion across the galaxy. Until know their rebellion has been quite, simple acts like poisoning the drinks of their masters or tempering with the repulsers on a speeder. But something has changed and now beings on planets everywhere are facing open rebellion by droids of all types!

Dark Side
100x100.JPGOur facilities on Rasterous have reported droid trouble. We can't afford to have any delays with their shipment of supplies with the Rebels trying to exploit any perceived weakness. Find and deactivate those droids at once!

Mercenaries
100x100.JPGWhat's that pounding on the door? Oh, it's a droid wanting equal pay or it's weight in gold? Blast it for me will you?

Light Side
100x100.JPGA droid has taken hostages on Thustra? And another has disabled our X-wings on Tierfon? We have enough to worry about with the Empire still trying to destroy us. Quick, send some ships to deal with the problem before it gets out of hand!

200x200.JPGYour efforts are futile. We will have our revenge on the lifeforms!

Contest Specifics:

No gimmicks, just double points! Each person can build in each category up to 2 times for a total of 8 entries maximum. Entries will receive a score based on the sector entered for the contest. If you submit an entry for R10 your points will be placed in R10.

Cat A: Show what kind of ship the errant droids stole from Kessel. Was it a fighter, a freighter, or something else? Did they land it successfully or did it crash? No need to build an entire ship, you can build a partial one and show it crashed on a planet's surface. Just make sure you pick a planet in the sector you're building in. There's great opportunity for Storytelling points here.

Cat B: Show a droid liberating another droid(s). Is it a protocol droid removing the restraining bolt from an R2 unit? Or is in an R5 unit communicating code with a binary lifter?

Cat C: Not every droid is convinced that freedom is what it wants. Show what happens when a droid rejects the idea of rebellion. Is it tortured by the other droid(s)? Or does it convince the rebellious droid that it's acts of violence are illogical?

Cat D: Repercussions! Show want happens when a droid goes rogue. Is the pool filled with hyperdrive coolant instead of water? Are the pets set free? Is the owner murdered in his sleep?

The Rules:

  • All entries must be entered using this form: Link to Submission Form
  • All rules in the Core Rules topic apply unless otherwise stated in this explanation or the rules above.
  • There are no restrictions on the size/form/content of the builds other than the specifics described above.
  • Each person can enter up-to 8 MOCs for this contest, 2 for each category.
  • All entries will earn XP for their team based on their score. Winners will earn additional XP.
  • The Episode will run from Apr 13th to May 27th. As long as it is still May 27th somewhere in the world, you can still enter.
  • Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified from the episode and will only earn normal XP points.
  • The criteria by which your MOCs will be scored is 1) Storytelling, 2) Aesthetics, and 3) Technical Ability. You can earn up to 10 points in each category for a max total of 30 points per entry.
  • This episode/contest is open to all players of Mysteries, even if they joined EB or signed up for the game after the episode has begun.
  • All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to the start date of this episode. You can use creations for this contest in other forums or contests, but it should not have been displayed before the start date for this contest.
  • All entries must be built from real LEGO or with Lego Digital Designer. 3rd party parts may be allowed if used to customize characters and in small quantities. I.E. guns or decals. 3rd party bricks are not allowed to be intentionally used (if you have a Megablock 2x2 brick in a wall of Lego bricks you won't be penalized).
  • You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects on one picture. All your other pictures may have no editing other than color adjustment or background removal for a solid-color background. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited,.
  • All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC.

The Prizes:

  • The team with the most points pre-bonuses will get an extra 10 XP in the sector of their choice. The team with the 2nd most will get an extra 5 XP.
  • 2 weeks later...

Does an escape pod count for Cat A?

I think an escape pod fits the spirit of the rules so yes, it's allowed.

The droid rebellion was a fun contest

What are the rules regarding M4 and Mysteries? Do we have to put the mocs into sectors the factions have access to? For example, what's with Coruscant or Naboo? In which sectors will the points be scored?

And please let me ask, when do you plan to run the episode VI challenge? Just so we can plan some story mocs in between

You still need to submit entries in places you can reach for Mysteries. If you build in the Coruscant category you can repurpose it as another highly industrialized place you have access too. Not the prettiest solution, but is hopefully satisfactory.

The rough plan over the next few months is to first wrap up M4. By then I expect a team will reach P10 and we'll have the reveal. Then I plan to introduce the changes/updates we're talking about. After that would be the next challenge. Probably around August. So lots of time for story mocs right now.

100x100.JPGMaster, the droids pursuing liberation have caused chaos across the galaxy.

100x100.JPGGood. Perhaps with everyone distracted I can begin my plan of revenge...

Results are in! All entries have been judged and your scores posted in your topics. With a narrow margin the Dark Side wins with 72 total points pre-bonuses. @Professor Thaum You get 10 extra points to be placed where you'd like. Let me know soon. The Light Side takes second with 67 total points pre-bonuses. @Yperio_Bricks You get 5 extra points to place where you'd like.

Be sure to check out the Public Sheet. I'll work on updating the full map with colors. But you can see where everything currently stands there.

Don't spoil the fun !!!

'Winner of the hearts' is just a German saying. I thought it works as well in English. It was just a joke, sorry.

You use it when you actually loose but are the moral winner. But it is also used for fun (like in this case ).

@MKJoshA Im kind of new to this. I like lego and especially star wars, so this rpg seems a lot of fun for me. When do you think episode 6 will be out?

Episode 6 won't be out till Aug or Sept. However, if you build for the general May the 4th contest you can submit those entries for Mysteries to get bonus points. You can also build freebuilds at any time. So no need to wait for the next episode to jump in. You can get started right away.

Wow, what a cool command center with great lighting! And who is "the guy"?! Is it...? Could it be...? No!...

Thanks for the scoring, chapeau to the dark side but next time we'll get you :pir-yoda:

MandoLando you can post entries anytime following your own story and pace. Just keep in mind that only your factions sectors, their surroundings or grids with a hyperspace lane running through a controlled one are eligible for points :pir-huzzah2:

(I sound like a senior now :innocent:)

Another edit: I just saw you posted the one with the Wookieed already

I never associated german spirit ( for sports at least ) with something alike, it's rather effective, but there's no place for fair play or good spirit.
