May 1, 2024May 1 Interesting to see fiber optics return, a neat callback to old Technic / Exo Force. Looks like the new hub has six fiber optic ports, four on front and two on back.
May 1, 2024May 1 The light tubes are pretty neat. Â I wonder if they can be daisy-chained together to make longer sections? Â A way to use this on other hubs would be neat as well.

Why are they using a blue 2L liftarm on each end and not blue toilet paper part (aka comma part) as in te middle of the lower lip? My guess is because they are on a corner of the vehicle. Especially the front corners would be very likely to get bumped into a wall with kids (and adults ) driving it. I think the 1L wide toilet paper part is more likely to break at the corner than the 2L liftarm.

May 2, 2024May 2 The set is now live on lego.com and the description clarifies the claims about the performance: This remote-controlled racing car toy model comes with lots of interactive features and is the fastest car (as of August 2024) in the LEGO Technic CONTROL+ range. As I expected this means it is faster than the 42124 Off-road Buggy, which is nice but I don't think it'll be comparable to any RC sets from the past with buggy motors.
May 2, 2024May 2 Well, fiber optics are back, that's cool. IÂ will also say that the overall design of the car looks great! But with that big monolithic hub, which contains everything of mechanical/technical interest all prebuilt for you, there's nothing there for me.
May 2, 2024May 2 Author If anyone wants to get the hub and lights alone, they can buy this set and I'm willing to buy back the remaining bricks so that I can put PF into it.
July 10, 2024Jul 10 On the Lego website there's a new photo (at least to me) of the side, and I can see plain black wires, which I think is probably for LEDs. They could still be fiber optics, I suppose. Edited July 10, 2024Jul 10 by Aurorasaurus add image
July 10, 2024Jul 10 They are (around) 3mm fiber optics, the ones inside the cab are covered with ribbed hoses.
July 10, 2024Jul 10 Author Where's the "fastest Technic RC set ever made" .... Edited July 10, 2024Jul 10 by Ngoc Nguyen

July 10, 2024Jul 10 Did they say the car runs faster than ever or did they say the car's conception has been the fasted ever?

July 15, 2024Jul 15 Now that the review sets are out in the wild has anyone found a parts list for this set yet?Â
July 16, 2024Jul 16 I wonder if TLG is discontinuing the Control+ system as we know it. None of the individual components (hubs, motors, etc) have found their way into 2024 sets, and the only motorized set of the year (this) has an integrated hub. Maybe TLG is developing a new system of motors? I just hope TLG is moving in the direction of only using integrated hubs for RC car sets in the future...it would be a nightmare for MOC builders. Lol I didn't hold my breath when I saw this car branded as the "fastest", like no way was it gonna be like the return of the RC Buggy motors. Disappointed but not surprised.
July 16, 2024Jul 16 Maybe there will be option to purchase performance mode separately What there some USB cable connected in video for charcghing?
July 16, 2024Jul 16 I really want to see review of this set. I want to see real speed. And will this set include charge cable?

We talked about this a few months ago in this thread. I don't think the integrated hub is a single solution that TLG is moving to on a long term, but it could be a way to reduce PU hardware inventory for a transition period until a new system is introduced. We'll need to see next year's lineup to be able to tell more.Â

July 16, 2024Jul 16 The whole idea of forcing companies to use USB-C is to reduce number of cables and charges on the wild. Unless it requires high power charger (which I'm sure it does not) there is little point in including one.
