This model was built from a single picture of 2024 Friends set 42638 - Castle Bed and Breakfast. I made the model in my own style, while attempting to keep the proportions of the set. I gave it a fold open back, and had to redesign the turret-area as I had no clue how they assembled it in the set. The official roof was likewise unfamiliar territory at the time, so I originally improvised a new one using bricks and slopes. (which was a total pain) Since the set's instructions came out, I replaced the roof with the one from the set.

The early-1930's Duesenberg SJ seen out front of the house is based off the car seen in Indiana Jones set 7682 - Shanghai Chase - from the 2009 Temple of Doom line. I updated the car's look with parts not available 15 years ago, and added a hardtop roof among other things.

The rear isn't too exciting: I added a back door, and added a chimney by the turret up front. The building is also removable from the modular base so it can open up.

The ground floor features the living and dining rooms.

The ground floor near the stairs features a telephone and painting.

The second floor features a writing desk along with a table and lamp.

Inside the upper part of the rear half featuring the stairwell. (There isn't much to say about this bit.)

The third floor features the bedroom and bathroom.

I just designed this detachable modular base for my Victorian townhouse MOD. It uses an enlarged / taller version of 2002 set 10069 - Christmas Tree for decoration, as the original tree from the polybag looked puny next to the house. Also of note, I ordered the house's furniture and the modular base's remaining parts. The house itself will also be ordered in the next few weeks.

Of the 1,065 parts on this building, I've found 333 pieces, leaving 732 parts still to go. These totals do not include furniture or the modular base - these items have finished the parts-finding phase and have been ordered from Bricklink as of the 7th.

I'm excited to see it come to life, I think this is a great idea, and it'll be interesting to see as your progress continues, please DO put a ghost in the attic, it'd look perfect with the house, which kind of reminds me of the Addams family house but more grounded and less over-the-top so a ghost would be a nice nod to that in a way. I can't wait to see what you come up with for the furniture, it's going to look great! I was also pretty inspired by the friends bed & breakfast set and this is looking to be an even cooler version of that since you won't be limited by part count and all that.

Thanks @Space Coyote! I've just updated the first post with a revised digital model as the real world MOC (still) isn't done yet. I hope you like it!

It looks great! I think it's coming together very nicely. I'm glad you're still working at this, I especially like how the set's roof looks on your build, I can't remember if it was always like that but I'm just now noticing and it looks fantastic, thanks for remembering to remind me about this!

Here is what it used to look like before I fixed the roof.

Yeah it definitely looks better than it did before but you were already pretty close. This is going to be magnificent when you're done with the IRL build but take your time with that I'm sure it's been a huge project.

Sorry for the late response @Space Coyote, but I've got more progress to show off!

All the furnishings for my upcoming MOC. I've been working on it since at least May 5th, and now the furniture is finished, with the modular base's remaining parts are coming tomorrow. The building itself will be ordered in a few weeks.

UPDATE: Finally, construction begins in the real world!

54030323799_43b6b33bec_z.jpg

Scene: You're building a model, happy as a clam. You're THIS close to finishing, when you realize there are a few parts (the 4x4 bricks in foreground) that are not what you ordered a almost a month ago. You're sure it wasn't like this when you checked the parts when they arrived from Bricklink. But by now, it's far too late to go back and tell the seller, even if you could figure out which one made the mistake. The only thing left to do is curse your luck and wait until you have enough parts on the your wanted list to make another order worthwhile. (which in this builder's case will be a while as I have too many orders out right now as it is)

Don't you hate it when this happens?

(After taking this photo, I found a short-term workaround by robbing from the bay window on the left temporarily. Later I found I was one short of a newer part that I have none extra of. I'm exactly three parts short of completing this MOC as of 2:30 pm and will be ordering the missing parts soon.)

@Space Coyote (I'm tagging you since you commented on the build before.)

I love this kind of architecture and your choice of colors is particularly successful!

I like the fence along the outside perimeter.

...and what about the car? Simply wonderful!

Thank you for your kind words @LEGO Train 12 Volts!
