My fear, that the ship will turn out to be a not-minifig-scale display model, came true. The model looks bland and boring. Easy pass for me.

I agree

Oh. saw a video pop up on YT. But to be honest I wasn't expecting minifig scale, but a slightly bigger scale then this. Where the rigging details would be allowed to be displayed. This is underwhelming, but maybe I know to much about sailing ships to be amazed by this.  Will I get it? I don't know yet.

Yea, secondary market for em sails & flag is the way, lmao :laugh_hard:

It's nice looking but with it not being minifig scale I most likely won't be buying unless I get a great deal on it.  I try to stick to minifig scale with Botanicals sets being the exception since they are a whole different thing.

While it may not be minifig scale, would it really look out of place next to most of Lego's ships? Maybe, maybe not. It's certainly a different looking boat. Is till like it, and will likely get it. Maybe it will look good next to the 398/10021 USS Constellation set? (Probably not, the two have HUGELY different builds. But the scales seem similar.

I'll probably get it. It's still cool enough for me. Day 1 purchase? maybe, depends how much I like the GWP.

Hmm, my first thought is "no", but I'd hate to pass on the sails for future MOCs...I wonder how expensive those will be on Bricklink....

Well, I don't know. I'll probably get it, and it does look cool. I was expecting non-minifig scale so no surprise there. This is 100% a display model like the Titanic. About the sails... they're very simple which is both good and bad. On the plus side, they're very realistic and universal, and could work in almost any pirate MOC. BUT at the same time they look like something made by a random kid using paper and scissors. :pir-laugh:

Ayup! Im waiting them to appear on Bricklink as well. Pricey as they might be, but I aint paying 260 Dollars/Euros for a LEGO Set. Thats just blind robbery. Lego has always been expensive, but AFOLs have skyrocketed that to athmospheres unknown to mankind.

Wouldn´t surprised if the sails show up on Pick a Brick at some point - for like 100€ or so, so would stay the better option to just buy the ship and use the parts instead of buying the sails alone. Doubt there will be a good price for them on Brickling either since I don´t really see anything else that would make it worth parting out really. So probably Bricklink might be an option for single sail pieces but I doubt it will be a good source for the complete set.

That's the case for like 99% of all TLG sails on the market anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well, if you you are going to pay a lot of money just for the sails. Why not buy a cheap ship from another brick company and use those sails for your Lego mocs.

There is at the moment a playset redcoats ship available with good looking white cloth sails for €80 at Bluebrixx.

Extra info : the designer of the Lego Bricklink castle Löwenstein 2019 is also a senior designer at Bluebrixx. And that castle is available soon at Bluebrixx too for a way cheaper price than those ridiculous Lego Löwenstein castle sold by scalpers. Is it legal? Yes, because the design is not from Lego.

Do you want cheaper Lego? Stop buying or at least not at day one because you're paying fomo tax.

I still love Lego but since Jangbricks had some good reviews of alternate brick companies, I am not a Lego purist anymore. Afterall it's just plastic.

Jangbricks reviews Lego and only brick sets from other companies that are not stolen designs.

Half the price of the set? :pir-oh3:

Bricklink shops in my country are often pretty expensive for rare items like this.

I hate to admit that some of the knockoff brands do come close to quality of Lego. But Ive always been a purist, and probably always will be.

Well, don't complain about Lego raising their prices. Lego is expensive because they can charge that  because there are a lot of people who are brand loyal to death. As long as people buying overpriced Lego, the company will raise their prices.

We must also remember that Lego is one of the few large toy companies that have manufacturing in Europe and will soon open a factory in the US. Most European sold sets are made with bricks mostly made in Billund and then packaged in the Czech Republic while almost all knockoff brand are made in mainland China and shipped to Europe or the US. Knockoff brands are cheap because the totalitarian regime in China doesn't allow unions and probably dumps their waste in some local river. That is one reason why I prefer to buy real Lego bricks and build my own ships if no suitable sets are available from Lego.

I guess you don't use a phone or electronics with components made in China? Or a car, train, food, medication with Chinese components? Electricity from Chinese solar panels or wind turbines? Clothes or plastics?

Your glorification of the Lego company (i mean the company, not the product) in every one of your posts is unreal. Do you work for Lego?

Did you know that the owner family owns three privat jets that often make the 100km trip from Billund to Odense or vice versa? The planes will fly this route even empty. Did you know that these planes made more than 1000 flights (to various destinations) in the years from 2020 to 2023? They destroy the environment like any other billionaires and only care about money.

Don't we all, if push comes to shove? Next weekend I'll be volunteering on a Brick event. I'll for sure will pollute the environment doing so, just by driving there.
Even if in your opinion it's only 'babysteps' the Lego Company does, its better then nothing.

Nope.

Do you know if your electricity you use comes from a solar panel or wind farm? If not, then you are getting it from coal, natural gas, or nuclear. By buying power from these sources, you are helping pollute. Do you drive a car? Pollution! (Even EV's make just about as much by way of use of the power grid to charge.) Do you recycle everything you throw out that could be reused? I think you know what I'm going to say...

I'm not saying you're a bad person or something, I'm saying we shouldn't be blind to what are actions can do.

Oh please guys. Why do you feel the need to defend the actions of billionaires? In fact i try to recycle everything correctly. If it would not be for my neighbours the regular trash could be emptied once a year. And no, i do not drive a car! I use my phones and computers as long as possible. My previous mobile phone I was using for more than 10 years (Maybe more than 12 but i don't remember exactly). My computer and laptop are from 2012 and 2016 and they still have a long life ahead of them. I eat organic meat only once a month. My heating is on the lowest possible setting. I would not mind it colder but the house needs to be heated to a certain degree. The electricity here comes from 66%+ from renewables. So i am pretty confident that my CO2 footprint is much smaller than the one of the Lego owners with their three privat jets that fly without passengers the whopping distance of 100km from Odense to Billund.

Now let's please get back to topic. If you want to discuss this further, please open a new thread in the fitting forum.

Allright, that's a fair point that I can agree with. But remember, your PlayStation and other electronics are made in China too.

My phone is a €400 Samsung from 2017 and it's still working. I am texting this right now on this phone.
