Wurger49 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 (edited) The Galaxy Fighter is a follow-on design of the Galaxy Explorer MOC from two LEGO 60430 Interstellar Spaceships. This two-seater fighter boasts impressive manoeuvrability thanks to its unique design elements: Canards and Forward-Swept Wings: These features provide superior agility in atmospheric flight, allowing for tight turns and swift manoeuvres. Triple Airbrakes and Thrust Vectoring Engines: Offering exceptional control even at high speeds and sharp angles of attack, these elements ensure the pilot remains in command during any dogfight. Easy-Access Maintenance Panels: Located conveniently under the central airbrake, these panels allow for quick repairs and modifications, keeping your fighter battle-ready. Building a Sturdy Fighter:The Galaxy Fighter combines various sloped and wedge pieces to create its distinctive canards and wings. To ensure durability during play, the canards are built up to three plates thick, preventing them from snapping off easily.Classic Space Meets Modern Design:A touch of nostalgia is added with reddish-orange half-circle tiles that lock the black wedge pieces into place on the wings. These tiles also represent the iconic LEGO® space logo in a brick-built form. Additionally, hinge brick top plates are used to secure various pieces, creating a robust model.A colourful stand is made from the spare pieces, displaying the model on an angle.Inspired by Macross:The final design pays homage to the VF-31Siegfried from the Macross series. This sleek design allows the Galaxy Fighter to achieve an impressive size while remaining under 400 pieces, making it a perfect build for both display and play. Space Coyote Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Oh wow, kudos! This is awesome, it has a Classic Space feel but with modern parts, I really love that concept, and it's inspiring that you made something so impressive with modern, easy-to acquire parts, I wonder what could be done with multiple copies of other sets from this line, like the Space Science Lab. danth Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Wow, this is really good! Smart to build the leftover parts into a stand. Quote

The leftover forward fuselage piece gave my the impetus to build the stand, just a little spark. Quote
