dimka_ya Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 Hello! I’m starting a new topic where I’ll post cars in the SpeedChampion series sizes, including those from this series :) A few years ago I started buying Lego for my child, then I started buying Lego for myself))) ...and among the sets there were wonderful cars - different cool ones, 6stud wide. Then there were several 8wide models and now... This year I decided to organize the “collection” a little, allocated a separate shelf for it and will try to talk a little about the cars :) I've already shown my modified Citroen from the IndianaJones set (I'll have to add a couple of photos to this post), but today we're talking about a different model. I had a Bugatti 75878 :) Over time it was disassembled into parts. Beautiful - isn't it? :) Since it is better to have all cars in the same scale, the Chiron was restored in sizes 8stud. The side brand line was taken almost as in the source code, because I haven’t come up with anything that looks better, and I haven’t seen anything among MOC's. But the front and rear parts have been changed. I didn’t bother much about the back anymore. The main goal was optics, at first I assembled it in full width, but still cut it down to make it more like the original :) With my nose I had to go through several options and settled on this one. This is probably the best part I have :) I still have the part with the radiator grille sticker from the kit, but it is already quite shabby and will look sloppy :) It might be better to use another part of the windsscreen, but this one has side windows that are close to vertical, so it will be like that. We managed to fit a 16-cylinder engine into the base (there is a small camber angle in each half). In general, the result is in front of you :) Thank you all for your attention! Write what you think in the comments :) Quote
Space Coyote Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 I love it! I like that you preserved the exposed studs on the hood of the original. The standout feature is that hidden engine, very impressive! Quote

With the studs on the hood, I can’t say that there were other options :) The only closer solution is the new 3387 parts from the 2024 Mustang, but they are in dark blue and their use would ruin the already not ideal color scheme of the car :) Quote
dimka_ya Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 I will duplicate Citroen in this post and then there will be the next model. Quote
dimka_ya Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 Hello. The third machine from my shelf is no longer an “expansion” or a “modification”, but a completely independent design :) I wanted to build a big muscle car, something like the early Chevrolet Camaro. I wasn’t trying to achieve an exact resemblance, just something in style :) Single-seat salon + a big balloon with some kind of garbage to drive quickly :) The model turned out to be very small, but very nice (in my opinion :) Quote
dimka_ya Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Small update for Bugatti :) The rear has been slightly reworked and repainted a bit. There is also an idea to lower the windscreen a little, but for this you need to find new mudguards in blue somewhere... Quote
dimka_ya Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 When buying the Toyota kit (76901), I initially understood that I was buying it for parts, since I didn’t like the way the Supra looked. Although, it is worth admitting that it is assembled in an interesting way (as a standard for the Speed Champions series), and there are even simple solutions for replacing the front optics. But still not the same :) That's why I bought 2 sets))) And from the first one I assembled an Audi. In general, according to the plan, from the first set of parts I wanted to assemble a Mustang Boss from ilyabuilder724 and put it on a shelf, but I decided to show my son some “intermediate” model. Assemble and disassemble, so to speak :) I looked at the Audi TT (from the same Ilya), but found an Audi RS5 with paid instructions. Don’t blame me too much, but I don’t know how to pay from my country, so I assembled it “from the photo” :) Well, since I had no goal of building an alternative version (and restrictions on parts), I made several changes to the design. It's good that yellow parts are quite common :) And we even managed to squeeze in the back row of seats, which is quite rare. The inscriptions were inherited from other cars :)) The main idea in appearance was taken from Turbo8702 from rebrickable.com Quote
dimka_ya Posted June 3, 2024 Author Posted June 3, 2024 About the "family" Dodge :) The unit is almost ideal - not broken, not painted and even almost stock. Perhaps in the future I will build an alternative model to it, but for now there will be a Charger. But, naturally, I couldn’t resist making small changes in the design. 1. The task was set to replace the rear axle; in my opinion, the Lego designers raised the rear of the car too high. And to me the back looks very massive. In principle, there is no complicated modification with the addition of a small number of parts (mainly due to the side parts). At the same time, I slightly changed the rear part itself (they lost one plate at the bottom, which is sad - I had to give up the cute reverse lights under the bumper, but what can you do). And I moved the mounting points for the exhaust pipes - they now don’t come out of the trunk :) 2. The engine air intake protrudes from the hood. It doesn’t stick out so aggressively, but at least Dominic can somehow see where to go)) 3. Salon. When will Lego make a normal steering wheel for Speedchampions series?? The regular one is really small and spoils the whole picture. The 2-stud technic wheel, although a little big, but, in my opinion, looks more harmonious :) I added a tachometer, otherwise you can overclock the engine)) It’s probably worth some more work on the driver’s seat to move the backrest a little back, otherwise it’s a bit cramped with the new steering wheel :) That's basically all for now. dimka_ya Posted June 9, 2024 Author Posted June 9, 2024 White and fast :) Hello! This machine was “born” after disassembling the Koenigsegg for parts, with which I still couldn’t figure out what to do to get a result that didn’t irritate me :) I really wanted a compact and squat silhouette. To achieve a modest size, the base from the old six-pin SpeedChampions sets was used and as a result the machine became a single-seater :) Don't pay attention to the test driver's eyes, he's a little scared :) We even managed to place an engine, a couple of cooling radiators and cylinders with some probably useful crap) Quote
dimka_ya Posted July 2, 2024 Author Posted July 2, 2024 Lift ... or when you really wanted to, but didn’t have a Land Cruiser at hand :) The “basic” Countach in white looks, of course, cool, but somehow a little boring. And again, bearing in mind that this is a constructor, it would be inappropriate to leave it in its original form J The first obvious option was to make a circle race version, adding a front spoiler, a skirt and a diffuser, but I don't particularly like the result, and many have already done this. And if the car is not undervalued, then? – correct – lift :) There was an idea to first install standard technical wheels, but they look pretty boring, and where are the original wheels and hubcaps from Lamba then? – they don’t fit anyone anymore, so the wheels have become less durable, but more stylish. Among the changes: - small protection for fog lights on the nose of the car - a large additional air intake on the roof (if suddenly the main ones become clogged with dust and filled with water) and an all-round light on it - railings for the trunk (and the boxes or canisters themselves) - minus the wing for the sake of the spare tire (and anyway, on these wheels you won’t be able to accelerate to the speeds where it’s useful) - I also wanted running boards or sills, but I thought that the Countach was initially very low and upgrading its suspension would not raise the level of the doors to inconvenient levels)... although I might add some more - slightly redesigned interior (seat backs, tidy and steering wheel) That's all it seems Quote

dimka_ya Posted August 29, 2024 Author Posted August 29, 2024 After several reassemblies and some time between them, I finally completed the 911, in a form in which I am almost completely satisfied with it. Adjusted for available parts, of course :) I have long wanted to try to design a Porsche in the speed champions scale. But somehow there were no ideas. Lego has cool variations of the 911, 6 wide in white and green, I looked at them, but blatantly copying models with an extension is not always the best option (I would say almost never the best))). I didn’t like the implementation of the front optics in them - it was too vertical, and in the absence of stickers, some points had to be rethought) For headlights, in my opinion, round tiles with a diameter of about 1.5 stud. would be suitable, but, unfortunately, Lego does not produce such. "Ones" are too small, "twos" are too big :( With the rear light, everything is relatively simple. Since the car is not new, the model gets an enlarged steering wheel. Also included in the “kit” is an analog lever, pedals and even a tachometer :) Quote
dimka_ya Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 Minor modifications for Skyline :) Quote
dimka_ya Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 Hello. It’s becoming more and more difficult to find parts for a single-color car in my supplies, so I decided to make it a little multi-colored. The first prototype even had “sidewalls” of different colors, but in the end both were whitewashed. As you may have noticed, the biggest problem was with the choice of glazing. Lego has two types of currently popular options, and I don’t quite like both of them)) in relation to more civilian equipment. This look, of course, looks good on supercars, but for simpler cars it has heavily bulging sidewalls. But the second one, on the contrary, is too straightforward. This, of course, can be somehow played around in the design (perhaps by recessing it slightly downwards or covering it from the side), but I settled on the first one. Even a full salon. Two adults + two children, probably)) Quote
dimka_ya Posted October 9, 2024 Author Posted October 9, 2024 Hello! A new stallion came to my stable. Like most of the guests, he could not avoid minor modifications... in general, if suddenly someone did not notice or is too lazy to compare, then: - stripes, white, beautiful, glued in places - the hood opens and the engine even - the rear spoiler dash wing has been slightly redesigned - the rear part of the body is slightly compressed, because it was somehow square - the seats are a little not original (a little droplet) Quote
