The Boonta Eve Classic

*****

Hello everyone,

this is my entry for the May, the 4th "The Phantom Menace" Category. TPM is probably the prequel movie I enjoy re-watching the most. Unlike some others, I like the plot and my highlight is definitely the pod race.

I remember, as a child I got the 7131 Anakin’s Pod Racer as a gift. Back then, I already had the X-Wing, Y-Wing and TIE Advanced star fighters from the original trilogy and had plenty of fun playing dogfights with them. But as much as I liked the pod race in the film, I didn’t really know what to do with that pod racer model. You can’t reenact the race with one racer, do you? So all the parts quickly joined the other spare ones in that large Lego crate. Until today most of them were not really useful, but I never stopped enjoying the Boonta Eve classic – moreover Episode 1 Racer was and is one of my favorite video games. And finally, today, the iconic parts served a purpose – my home built Anakin’s podracer! I hope you like it.

Here are some more angles on the pod racer:

Spoiler

Sebulbas Pod upfront in the scene is from my collection of micro scale pod racers I finalized around last Christmas. I built all 18 participants of the Boonta Eve classic simultaneously. Feel free to have a look at the models. They of course would not count for the score here.
