Ahoy mates!

Here's my newest ship - Batavia inspired VOC galleon, that carries emblems of Amstredam and Amsterdam department of VOC.

Ship is build on old-type hull, carries coffee-dyed, machine-sewn, PVC-fabric sails and hand painted flags.

Oh, this is a wonderful ship! The shaping is very unique, I can't say I have seen a ship with a hull shaped like that before. The angled walls on the stern are expertly done, and very seamless. Great job!

What a beautiful ship  I love how you managed to combine the classic molded hull pieces and brickbuild hull elements. Especially the bulges on the sides. And the bow and stern are build so well. Also props for the custom sails!

Nice touch! But these guys weren't sailors... But does it really matter, when you are referencing the great artist?

Phenomenal work. Is there an interior that we could see per-chance?

Those hatches under galleries are openable, but acces to interior is poor, so I skipped furnishing. Rooms are empty below deck, nothing to see there.

Here's some shots of the deck to make it up.

Beutiful ship, nice reference with the batavia. I love how you acomplished the window angle in the top cabin. What exact material did you use for the sails (and would it be purchasble online)? I really like the look of them and only can imagine the great amount of work that went into them.

The material is the fabric cut from window blinds (this roller thing on windows), it's available in DIY stores or construction markets e.g. Leroy Merlin or Castorama in Europe. This fabric is very close to the material that LEGO uses. And the cost of a set for a small window (fabric 40×100 cm) is about 6 euro. It propably is purchasable online too.

Thank you very much for that info! Did you print the logo onto the fabric or drew it by hand?

I painted it by hand, using brush and acrylic paints, thick ones (those come in small tube sets - also available in DIY stores, relatively cheap). I also painted sails for my spanish galleon, posted HERE

Miraculously beautiful ship!

I especially love her because It shows that you have given considerable thoughts to one subject = tightrope between reality and scale model.

Also every part I can see inspires me to my recent shipbuilding.

A magnificent galleon! Everything is built with great detail. I really like how the quarterdeck slopes upwards on the outside.

A lovely build, with clever techniques and a nice colour scheme!

2 questions, though

a) where is all the crew? 4 men for such a ship feels a like a little...

b) the ladders are nice, but they make it impossible to access the guns under them, maybe modify it a little?

But these are tweeny nitpicks from someone still in contest mode. The sails look custom-made, where'd you get them? Or how did you make 'em?

You have made a very nice build!

I really like the color combinations that you made and apart from really nice details, the technic used for the stairs.

Well done!

The sand green looks great, and something I haven't seen in a ship often. The masonry bricks are particularly clever, as they are nearly always used exclusively in stone buildings.
