msk6003 Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 (edited) So no mustang(or new countach!) wheel. Deadline is very long so I will try something which I thought several month but not start to build. This model will perfect for this contest and will be VERY unusual vehicle for both function and vehicle type. The only two obstacle is the possibility of direct purchase regulations in Korea(possible to ban bricklink) and although I have experience creating such a model, it is not stable. Hmmm I hadn't though of that. I am okay with any rim used in one of these sets, since that's an official combo: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=15413&in=S I will alter the rules later. You can consider to use the Bricklink list of “this fits”: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=15413&name=Tire 49.5 x 20&category=[Wheel, Tire & Tread]#T=C&C=11 Quote

Classic wheels do have some issues because of its 1,5 stud depth. However I have no problem with classics too:) 9 minutes ago, lcvisser said: You can consider to use the Bricklink list of “this fits”: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=15413&name=Tire 49.5 x 20&category=[Wheel, Tire & Tread]#T=C&C=11 This is nice idea actually! So I’d interpret that as a 4 wheeled vehicle with a 5th wheel mounted to a rear door, like a Land Rover, would meet the rules Quote

msk6003 Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 This question is just for curiosity. Is airplne / space shuttle / ship is count as vehicle in this contest? Like this. Quote

Like this. It is not exactly what I was looking for, but it's hard for me to deny it's a vehicle. So yeah, it's a vehicle. And if it uses 4, 5 or 6 wheels, it's allowed in the contest. 47 minutes ago, Ngoc Nguyen said: What about the projects that I only showed parts of in public before? Like in my Technic corner I showed a cabin of something but I never showed that whole thing. Not if it has already been posted somewhere. We always ask to build something new, so using a cabin which you already have shown in public is not allowed. I know it's thin line and people will obviously re-use some of their stuff. But if it has been posted (and possibly discussed) somewhere people will probably find out. The contest is about building a new moc, so build a new cabin. And it's hard to determine whether a cabin is new or not, because most cabins will look more or less the same. Just make it different enough that's a not a blatant copy of work you already have published. Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 It's OK I don't intend to use that project anyway. I have already gotten significant progress with the Compact Backhoe. I have another question regarding this. On 6/15/2024 at 9:03 PM, Jim said: Only physical builds, so no LDD or other virtual entry. On 6/15/2024 at 9:03 PM, Jim said: One or more images (max 4). I usually design function sheets for my creations, like this one. To save time and cost I use rendered photos. For the contest I will build a physical model, of course. But am I allowed to use rendered photos in the photos of the entry? Or at least can I use rendered photos for the photos showing the functions only, while still using photos of the real model for full body shots? Quote

Lipko Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 (edited) Airplanes and ships are a bit of a stretch I think. The rules say the wheels need to drive the vehicle. I assumed this means the real life vehicle is driven by wheels. So an animal/statue/house on wheels just for the hack of it is not allowed. Either ships or airplanes (even though some airplanes have driven wheels I guess). But I guess I was wrong? Edited June 19, 2024 by Lipko Quote

Not the axles. 28 minutes ago, Lipko said: So an animal/statue/house on wheels just for the hack of it is not allowed. Exactly. 28 minutes ago, Lipko said: Either ships or airplanes (even though some airplanes have driven wheels I guess). But I guess I was wrong? Ships are not allowed. The are not driven by wheels. 29 minutes ago, Lipko said: Either ships or airplanes (even though some airplanes have driven wheels I guess). But I guess I was wrong? Airplanes are in they grey area. Maybe we should disallow flying vehicles, in the spirit of the contest. Interested to hear people's opinions. Quote

Jim Posted June 19, 2024 Author Posted June 19, 2024 I agree. Let’s stick to vehicles which use the wheels for their primary movement function. Quote
msk6003 Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 (edited) My curiosity is not end and have lot of ingenuity and perseverance.(pun intended) I still building some kind of truck so accept this as joke question. Is this is ok to contest? Edited June 25, 2024 by msk6003 Quote
howitzer Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 I don't think airplanes are, at least generally, driven by wheels so if a real life counterpart of a proposed vehicle should be driven by wheels, that would count airplanes out. By driven I mean that the motion forward comes from tractive effort between wheel and road/other surface. On the other hand, there have been real life cars with only non-driven wheels (motion forward comes from propeller/jet engine/rocket) so there's that. And then there are amphibious cars. My interpretation of the spirit of the contest is that it should disallow airplanes while allowing amphibious cars and such. Autonomous rovers such as the one above should also be allowed. Quote
ukbajadave Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 (edited) Aww man! I'd just started on my Elephant too It was going to have 4 wheels... Edited June 19, 2024 by ukbajadave Quote
