@thewatchman, well, true pirates don't really need "planes" to go from one point to another!

And that roof proves that Keeping it simple is better than simply trying to dump a load of details in such a small space.

The plane build is meh.

I must say, I agreed. The blue and orange colour scheme absolutely let down the set, as well as the too-short wingspan. If you want to see how I ended up fixing it, check out the video below:

Some of you need to get worse at moc building, you're making it too hard to be a critic.

I honestly can't find anything to fault here. It genuinely feels like an official set, the size, the colours, build techniques, hidden features are all very authentic.

Ok, so I will nitpick.

I think the gazebo could do with a little more detailing to make it more interesting. Even something simple like using some bricks with studs on the side and attaching some round tiles for example could make it look ornate like the islanders carved some patterns into the wood.

I also like how you used the clip to secure the skeleton, but it would look better in a colour other than white. The leg is standing beside it so we know the clip is not part of the skeleton but being the same colour doesn't look right. Making it light gray or tan to match the environment would be better.

Hum, I quite like that studded "carvings" idea @Autumn .

Simplicity is essential, but one must be careful, or else it loses out on detailing.

Such a nice torso was choosen. I wasn't even aware that this one exists, got only the one with dark blue jacket and little green creature in the pocket. Harry Potter sets come with so many good parts for this historical era!

Brickbuilt sails work perfectly here, looks like it's very windy. :D

Controversial opinion alert: I'm a fan of brick-built sails myself. The ones on the Creator 3-in-1 pirate ship were great, and they offer more versatility.

But now that I think about it, I might prefer cloth sails... Any sails will do!

Aye!

This is an awesome creation and a great updated version of the Islanders cave, i don't remember the exact name of that set! You did a fantastic job with all the little details and features. Minifgures are supercool and all in all a great MOC!

This build is to me the most nostalgic. The way you build it reminds me of my creations back in the day playing with pirates. Your entry to me has the most play possibilities in terms of looking at it as a potential product. The look is simple not complex, and it doesn't need to be; to me it has the right balance. Good thing you added more photos :pir-huzzah2:  Good luck on the contest

Ahoy Matey @thewatchman!

Looks like ye haven’t voted for a critic yet- just a reminder that voting ends soon. If ye vote for a critic ye gain +5 points on each entry you have submitted. That’s an extra five (5) votes that yer missing out on by not voting! Yer also gonna be entered in a raffle for a $25 set, just for voting! So raise the anchor, hoist yer sails, and go vote, before it’s too late! Fair Winds!
