David G Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Many years ago I bought a Lego set that had computer software... I have all the pieces but I no longer have the Optical Disk that contained the software nor the instruction booklet. Can anyone help me with copies of either or both items I would like to hand this set with everything that is required to play with it to my grandson. D Quote
Fluwoeb Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Hello @David G, could you please provide more information about this Lego set? The set number would be helpful. I am guessing this is some kind of Mindstorms set, but I don't know for sure. Quote
Jurss Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Instructions could be found on lego website, if the set is not too old Building Instructions - Customer Service - LEGO.com US or on some specific pages like lego.brickinstructions.com Paper version could be bought on briclink.com, brickowl.com, maybe also that CD/DVD Particular set number (also more relevant topic name) could help Biggest issue here could be, that that electronics are not compatible with modern computers anymore, or You need to find computer from that time also. That can be solved on a new machine by downloading the OS system that is required for the older Lego mindstorms, like Oracle VM VirtualBox https://www.virtualbox.org/ Not knowing what set is in question may make the following redundant. Bricklink.com can probably help you find the set number. Instructions and guides can be retreived. https://www.lego.com/cdn/product-assets/product.bi.core.pdf/4129439.pdf Some old CD files are available as well, https://www.brickfactory.info/iso/index.html They also Have instructions for the set. Apart of this I have a few pieces that became unattached and the remote control box. Quote
Carsten Svendsen Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 (edited) You will need Windows XP to run this software, and it is critical for play Edited June 20, 2024 by Carsten Svendsen Quote
1963maniac Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 My guess is that this is set 3806: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=3806-1#T=S&O={"iconly":0} If you click on inventory, bricklink will show all the parts for this set Instructions: https://www.brickfactory.info/set/index.html CD ROM: Click on 3806 for the correct one. David G Posted June 20, 2024 Author Posted June 20, 2024 Ok! Thanks a lot to all of you. The information you have provided me makes it clear now that I have a LEGO Spybotics 3806 Gigamesh G60 that will work under Wndows 95.. I do have a couple of old computers that run this OS... Quote
1963maniac Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 Oracle VM VirtualBox This can create a virtual environement to run software with an older operating system on a current computer. So you don't have to maintain an old computer that is no longer supported by the manufacturer. Quote
