I’m not convinced by the photo as it looks like the old P1. Still think it’ll be based off the new P18 (internal project code) car just renamed at launch.

Same thoughts here. And given the recent appearance of Technic parts in purple, I still consider that a likely color.

It looks quite real to me. If it is based on a 10 year old car then I'd say that's a good thing! I never really cared what it was, only if the mechanics are good and worth the price. Limiting yourself to only doing the latest model of car doesn't allow you to pick whatever would make for a great Technic set. Would we not have preferred the classic defender with full live axles rather than the newer one? Heck, I still don't see why the UCS cars have to all be supercars! Why not a classic defender or a Ram pickup, or even a family hot hatch (something far more people could relate to), or anything with a stick shift?! Anyway, being another supercar, it is what it is. Time will tell if there's anything worth the price on the inside. I know many fans here would say that it's another car, there can't be any novelty left. But to me there's still lots of room for improvement. Same functions, just done much better.

I didn't like that the Lamborghini and the Ferrari were less iconic models. If it is a P1, it is a good thing.

The headlights and grille look massive compared to the original car. *huh* Kinda worried this is gonna be heralded as another LEGO screw-up (like the MP4/4, missing SP3 headlights and in total LEGO frequently kinda screwing up sets for the past few years) or another "LEGO be like let's make a set of something that has already been a stellar MOC for the sake of capitalism" rant-about (Countach).

Im more than happy with it being a P1, as someone has just said previously, being an older car, its had time to collect fans and people who appreciate the model because they know what the car is. I feel if its a brand new car thats not even been released yet, its a bit less exciting. Im not 100% sure if its real yet, but if so, that front end is rather ugly. Headlights loon way off, and the "Mouth" is way too big. Rest of the car is amazing.

And it looks like it has rims from (also orange) Porsche 42056

It's much bigger than porsche's. Same size with daytona.

It looks very well rounded. This might just become the best of the series.
Definitely looking forward to seeing it in person.

I can see a gear on a 5m or 3m axle axle with stop at the back. I think maybe it's for the spoiler?

I thought about HoG steering, but you might be right. Also, why there isn't a removable HoG steering..?

Nice exposed blue pins, half axles sticking out and large holes in the rear. How can this unfinished thing be called a flagship set?

If there was you probably wouldn’t see it on (most) promotional photos.

Where are the half axles sticking out? Or do you mean the Y pieces on the wing.

interesting to see that TLG have gone down the route of an older Supercar. But perhaps bodes well for the future.

i think the exposed gear at the back is either HOG steering or there as part of the gearbox as the real thing is behind the engine.

people have questioned why not other sorts of vehicles in this range. For me it’s simple, it’s all about the poster you’d have on the wall as a kid. For me it was a Countach and an F40. That’s how I view these models.

so perhaps McLaren isn’t unveiling P18 at Goodwood then!
