BardDandelion Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 (edited) My first entry in Summer Joust 2024, category 12x12 Vignette. ;) Had this idea of pool/bath filled with blood and lady vampire taking a bath in it in my mind for a long time. I believe it was one of previous years Summer Joust categories (Castle interior or something similar) that planted this in my head. Finally was able to get it built. :D Scene was heavily influenced by story of Elizabeth Báthory, Hungarian noblewoman who was accused of killing several young women and bathing in their blood to retain her youth. LordDan Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Suitably gothic and creepy! I especially like how the cage is constructed. Quote
Space Coyote Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 The vibes you've conjured up with this are unmatched - sinister, majestic, a kind of hauntingly fancy decadence. The human prisoner is a nice touch, and the vamp looks great, how the heck did you accomplish that resting pose with the legs at an angle? That's very impressive, very nice work all around! Quote
Feuer Zug Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Sublime build. The flying buttress itself is great. The creepy atmosphere is perfect for this. Blood coming from the cage and the vampress enjoying a swim make for the dichotomy between predator and prey. Quote
BardDandelion Posted July 3, 2024 Author Posted July 3, 2024 (edited) @LordDan Thank you! Cage is an update of technique used in my Ogre cave MOC. :) @Space Coyote Thanks a lot! Legs are pulled out of hips part and connected with modified bricks in dark red. Then they could be "hinged" a bit. You may try this technique yourself, it's easy. ;)@Grin Thanks! :D @Feuer Zug Thank you! Glad that you like my build. ;) Edited July 3, 2024 by BardDandelion Quote

BardDandelion Posted July 5, 2024 Author Posted July 5, 2024 @Space Coyote No problem, hope you will use it yourself in one of your builds. ;) Quote
zoth33 Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Great scene. I like the arches and the Gargoyle is fantastic. The pool of blood is great and nice use of the Princess Leia torso. Quote
BardDandelion Posted July 8, 2024 Author Posted July 8, 2024 @zoth33 Thanks a lot! Princess Leia torso works perfectly in fantasy builds. :D Quote
Agent Kallus Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Very nice, it's somewhat burlesque and sinister but not in an over the top edgy way that doesn't fit Lego. Quote
BardDandelion Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 @Agent Kallus Thank you! I don't like going over the top with my builds becase - as you mentioned - it doesn't fit LEGO world. For me it's not only case for edgyness but also hiperrealism. I like to keep my builds in the realm of cartoonish style since I find it fitting minifigs the best. Quote
