SevenDeadlyStreamers Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 You can clearly identify the swashbuckler as Steve in the original photos. I’m glad you left them in. It’s a good example on how to enter the contest when you don’t have the official minifig. Quote
Horation Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Yeah, there's no need to break the bank and buy a whole new fig just for a contest. So I'm quite glad to see such variety, but I'm still glad to see you found that Steve fig! Quote
YellowFrog Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 (edited) Such simple fixes hardly compromise on the story or the complexity. It's up to the creator, I guess. Edited August 6, 2024 by YellowFrog Quote
Autumn Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 (edited) There is on very big flaw in this very small build, and that is the officer's chair is far too close to the edge of that sandy slope. If he leans back to relax after a hard day's work there is a high risk of him falling backwards down that slope and getting wet. I also agree that he needs a palm tree or something for shade. Maybe he got sunstroke and that's why there was a misunderstanding. This man needs better working conditions! Edited August 7, 2024 by Autumn Quote
BardDandelion Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 The story is fun because we all met this kind of government official in our life. But the build lacks detail and doesn't feel Port Royale at all. Maybe you could go even crazier and make this guy a governor of small, one man desert island? And he still follows protocols and is the biggest fan of bureaucracy? Quote

Autumn Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I don't know if it was OP's intention, but I find it rather hilarious. "Port Royale" is nothing more than a guy behind a desk in charge of the smallest island imaginable. It is a bit bare though which seems to be the consensus. I'd love to see it fleshed out a bit more. Christophh Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Hey! Nice small little build! I really enjoyed the comic you wrote. The MOC is nice, the style is similar to the 21322 Barracuda bay, which i very like. I would love to see this MOC a bit expanded, to get a better picture of the whole scenary! Quote

As far as I know, this is literally it. It's a one-man, no-trees island in the middle of the ocean. Expanding it would probably end up being placing this on a blue base plate. And perhaps putting more blue baseplates around that. Quote

I guess it's us wishing for more Scotland than there really is out there? I suggest that you take the high road and I take the low road... On 8/5/2024 at 1:42 PM, YellowFrog said: One more thing that would really polish up this build: the edge of the water looks a bit jagged and distracting. Rounded plates, or a rectangular footprint would go nicely here. The palm tree is just outside the small build. And as for the water: not the usual treatment here to keep the part count down. On 8/5/2024 at 2:45 PM, Horation said: I have to admit this is a simple build, but I hardly see the point in making it too complex. See, this entry is all about the story, and less so about the means through which it is told (the build). Quote
